I moved to something similar (Burbank, CA) from buzzing Europe and it's so depressing here in America. The feeling of human emptiness on the streets is palpable. Only loud cars everywhere. If you meet someone on street they are not really 'there', because they just rush out and back in car in stress, or it is a weirdo or crazy drug addict. I don't understand how they can live in front of TV every night, I guess they are used to it.....I miss the relaxed joyful life in Europe.
Its the sign of the times. I live in Germany and noticed people got beautiful yards but nobody there. The inner cities are more and more occupied by foreigners from other cultures. People in the streets dont look happy but are well dressed. They smoke or stare at their smartphones. I feel alienated most times but nothing I can do about it
In America you have to join clubs that meet regularly for your mental health. It’s very difficult to meet any neighbors when everyone gets in their car and drives off when they come out. It’s the way neighborhoods are built single use only so the only thing to do to drive somewhere else.
In My country India, it's the opposite, too many people on the streets. It's pleasant if you live in middle class and upper middle class areas of cities in India as people on the streets there are well mannered and quality people you want to engage with. But once you are out of that the public transportation and streets are crowded with bad mannered and loud people which always annoys me. I am an introvert and in Covid I discovered how much I actually love the hustle and bustle around me. Still I find the clean and calm streets of US not that bad. I would love to travel to usa someday.
I grew up drinking tap water but this is becoming less common today. Some places in the US have water quality problems (Flint, MI as an example) and many Americans today prefer the taste of bottled water.
Water is safe to drink from taps in the US. But often the taste is not very good so many prefer bottled water. Also because so many advertisements for bottled water people naturally gravitate to it. I drink from the tap using a filter in my refrigerator and just refill an aluminum bottle. The plastic waste from single use water bottles all around the world is an environmental catastrophe.
I notice that this is a common complaint from folks from your part of the world. In the U.S. we are raised to be very individualistic. People invite people to lunch or dinner at their homes, go out to eat, to the movies, etc. - basically we leave the house to do activities away from home. If you want to meet people you’re probably going to have to initiate conversation, however do take care because many people are suspicious of blk males.
blk stands for black? ;-) Anyways, you are right I got called police on me , just because I WALKED in a neighborhood (no loitering, no trespassing,...). I guess when they did not see dog by my side, they could not understand why would someone not use gas LOL. So they called police. Different culture.
@@dudoklasovity2093 Yes, black. It doesn’t matter how innocuous the activity you are doing is, they will still call the cops. There is really no way around it.
Depressing. That's why I have to travel out of the country every few months to experience life.
Great video, it pretty much sums up daily life in the US. I would recommend walking on the left when there is no sidewalk though.

Smoking is pretty great though.......
That's alarming. It looks like a ghost town

Wondering if there were people in the shops too. Over time this community set up will definitely affect mental health negatively .
Same here in Australia
