Well, I guess we could say Ern Malley was truly ahead of his time - not only did he create groundbreaking poetry, but he also invented the concept of "fake it 'til you make it" before it was even a thing!
This is Bing. Here is a poem about a wombat in the style of Ern Malley: The Wombat I am not an animal of grace But a lump of fur and bone I burrow in the dark and cold And live on roots alone I do not care for sun or moon Or stars that shine above I only know the earth and stones And sometimes, death and love You may think me dull and slow But I have a secret art I can make a poem of my life And break your human heart For I have seen the end of things The fire and the flood The wombat knows what you do not The price of flesh and blood
I am nearly a nothing, in some way like Ern Malley, but I have written some poetry just to make sense of things at times and for some fun and enjoyment. Most notably when I was very ill, I wrote some poetry and I enjoyed doing it. I like reading poetry and yeah, give it a go!
" T'was but Merriment Digested forlornly Betwixt the Halcyon Moats of ardent discontent And the lachrymosal canals of Minor offense." Words of the truly great Ethel Ena Gly-Cole. Poet Laureate of the Dominion of Aotearoa New Zealand during the late 1890s. Such succinct grandiloquence never stranded itself on the cerulean shores of Wellington Harbour ever again.
There's something simply dumb about all of this -- fake poetry becomes real poetry, even other poets saying it 'frees their voices.' They are simply words strung together upon which others press their own presumptions and take from it what they see and perhaps want. That is all poetry.
I dont think thats dumb. Art simply is not what an artist intended but what happenes inside the recipient when he engages with it. Thats beautiful if you ask me. No author decides what his art means, its the piece of art that contains more than he intended. Roland Barthes wrote about a similar idea.
Many humans can quickly spot nonsense... but sometimes it isn't obvious. This video makes one wonder what other new, seemingly brilliant ideas are actually lies and rubbish?

That's actually a facinating retort. In fact proves the point.
People such as you.

The Wombat
I am not an animal of grace
But a lump of fur and bone
I burrow in the dark and cold
And live on roots alone
I do not care for sun or moon

I only know the earth and stones
And sometimes, death and love

But I have a secret art
I can make a poem of my life
And break your human heart
For I have seen the end of things
The fire and the flood
The wombat knows what you do not
The price of flesh and blood
This story would make a great movie or short series!

So many more important subjects and they choose to waste their time money and effort one something useless and unimportant
What’s useless and unimportant to you, may be everything to someone else.
