How to Remove a Moen Genta Bathroom Faucet Aerator| Clean Aerator for Better Water Flow and Pressure

Are you having waterflow issues with your Moen Genta bathroom faucet? You probably have deposits in your aerator and need to clean it. That’s what people will tell you but not many will tell you HOW to remove the aerator. Here’s a video of how I removed mine.

Thanks for the guide on how to remove the flow restrictor on the Genta faucet. I have this faucet for over 5 years now, and the flow was excruciatingly slow. This video resolved the water flow problem.

Thank you for this great video. Moen told me five years ago that there was no way to remove the aerator from my Genta faucets, and I actually began today thinking I would have to replace my two faucets, but your video inspired me to try to remove the aerators. I have the 2017 version of this Genta, which looks a little different from yours inside. The aerator housing in mine is metal, whereas the piece you removed appeared to be entirely plastic. The screws were the exact same as yours, and piece came out like yours, but it took quite a strong tug. (I cut my hand, so be careful!) Getting the unit back in also took some work, as the metal is heavy and of course does not flex, but it eventually worked. One thing I learned is that it will look like the screw holes are not lining up, but there is a lot of adjustment space for the screws, so if it seems like the piece is in, try the screw. This is excellent. I would suggest that people look to solve the water flow problem also look to see if there unit has a reducer. My Moen facucet at the aerator had a water saver reducer installed. Pink about the size of an aspirin. I simply removed it. Water flow issue solved.

I wish I had this model. Very similar but mine doesn't have the flip bottom. Consulted with moen which was useless. Mine you have use a 1/8 allen wrench to remove the black plastic aerator. Unfortunately the screw was frozen in place and I strip it trying to remove it. I just have to live with loss of 75 % flow. In addition, I used white vinegar with plastic Z-Lock freezer bag on the aerator overnight. Flow rate the same. I surrender.
