Not only do you need a good fuel line and pump, don't overlook the tanks vent size. As a teenager I collapsed a steel fuel tank on my 1970 Dodge 340 Dart Swinger. A good fuel pump and a not so good tank vent sucked the tank and collapsed it so bad it had little tears and started leaking.

    Good progress Andy
Glad you're getting rid of that in cab bomb. Enlarged a couple of fuel sending units out to 3/8" for my Mopars to use the stock tank. Made em' longer and lower to the tank floor for launch. Still have a few 3/8" barrel shaped Mopar fuel screens left. The line section from the passenger's feet to the pump, along the frame used to get pin holes and cause it to calve at the high end. Bear to diagnose, but learned that Mopar lesson the hard way.
Dying to see these headers! TTI eat your heart out!

1972 C10 4500 lbs 454/TH400 373:1 running factory fuel lines (3/8”) to factory tank behind seat, stock mech fuel pump. Old clunk would run a 13.1 et at Hennesey’s drag strip in Sealy, Tx. It felt like it was done and fell flat soon after the 1/8 th mile. I was trying hard for that 12 second timeslip so I went home and took out my heavy toolbox that had an extra 200 lbs of junk in it and my spare tire and thought here comes my 12.90 yeehaw. Went back to the track and ran a 13.1 and again it felt flat shortly after the 1/8 th mile. I thought about it and decided I had some sort of bottleneck somewhere. I bought an electric fuel pressure gauge and mounted it on th3 steering column and took it on the back roads and at WOT when it hit Drive the fuel pressure fell to nothing. I ordered a big Holley mech pump and 1/2” fuel line which I ran from the pump to the tank. Took it out and same thing.....then I did some drilling on the sending unit flange and sized up my pick up tube inside the tank. Half inch line does no good sucking through 2’ of 3/8” line. Problem solved! Old clunk now bust off low 12’s holding solid fuel pressure on the top end. Now itching for that 11 second time slip!!! 😂😂😂

It had old inline fuel filter that I took out after gas tank that was dirty with debri. I'm just looking to cruise in my truck do you think I still would need a aeromotive 100 micron fuel filter? Good video. Just a side tip. The poppet valve size in the regulator is a big factor. Many of them are 5/16 or even smaller. Ideally you want 3/8 or 7/16 diameter poppet valve in your regulator to reduce restriction.

You’re videos now have me second guessing my whole set up and seriously considering going with the Holley 1250cfm carb that it was designed to run with. Flow calcs, intake plenimum pressure, and the function of a carb versus EFI.
    Anyways thank you!

A short restriction in a line means nothing when fluid is pressurized. I shouldn't say nothing, because the isn't quite true, but it is in the context of fuel delivery. Pressure and fluid speed will increase at that exact point, and makes it more prone to wear and tear. Now if you're talking about a mechanical fuel pump trying to suck fuel in That is going to be a totally different story. It seems like people mix up the real reason

Granted im not familiar with drag racing, but anyone who goes to racing should consider, that it doesn't need to be own fault to something go wrong. Ask me how i know, when other car hits you on a circle track, so that roll cage give in and seat belts stretches.. Now your truck has probably more power than a group b rally car, so its not a joke 😬Replacing the old fuel tank sounds good idea, maybe there is then space for a main hoop or something like that? Anyway, maybe you've already thought about it. Cant wait to see the new headers, keep up good progress, cheers.

Had an Aeromotive Stealth 340lph pump and the stock 5/16” lines, which we found had more pinch points than a Mustang system. I have two systems for the 68 LeMans I am bringing, one for FiTech EFI and one for carbs. Will probably end up taking parts from the Firebird I used to race to complete this one. I would be racing the Bird, but it needs so much work to get leaf springs to hook at the level my engines are that its faster to build another car with a 4 link and a frame. If I break something in the next 30 days, I will bring the Bird just need to weld the cage in it and its good for tens(if I slow it down some). It has a 1/2" system with a relatively big pump to feed its 467.
I ran into fuel line size problems way back in the 90s, trying to feed a mild 455 that grunted a 3750lb Firebird into the 11.40s with a 3.42 gear and stock converter without nitrous. Yes its the same Firebird, no it no longer weighs 3750....
