    In this Ortho4XP tutorial I would like to show you what (free) tools I use to manually color correct areas that have a different color tint than the surroundings. This is especially noticeable around airports you fly in or out of, as it happened to me in this example for London Luton Airport with Google satellite imagery. I hope this tutorial will be useful for you.

    Thank you for sharing this video, very helpful! The more I dig into it, the more I have realized that xplane 11 is 50% about flying and 50% about design/photo-shop/programming/ecc. :)

    • @SimulationChannelDeluxe
      @SimulationChannelDeluxe  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Getting rid of clouds isn't easy unfortunately, you could try to take a screenshot of a different satellite imagery source without clouds, cut out the area and paste it over the cloudy area in the original imagery. Cheers

    Top tip: you can do this directly to the downloaded photos inside the Orthos-Folder (Ortho4XP\Orthophotos\). That way, you don't have to touch DDS files directly, because it's all just JPEGs. Additionally, you don't have to re-do this if you ever regenerate your scenery, because Orthos will just replace all of your manually edited files again. Of course, for the changes to take effect, you will have to regenerate the tiles with Orthos after editing.

    • @SimulationChannelDeluxe
      @SimulationChannelDeluxe  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's correct, also the raw JPEGs can be edited and then saved as DDS files, but afterwards you have to drag those edited files into the "zOrtho4XP...\textures\" folder and overwrite the old files. I found it easier to directly edit the converted DDS files as it saves a step. I'm not sure if repeating the "Build imagery" step in O4XP would apply the changes, as it will just find out that all the texture files are already present and it won't recognize any changes to the JPEG files. But thanks for pointing this out! :)

    • @prabe
      @prabe 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SimulationChannelDeluxe true, you'd also have to remove the cache I suppose, but it should then re-generate the tiles with the new base images. I'd have to test that I guess, anyway, super Tutorial :).

    • @SimulationChannelDeluxe
      @SimulationChannelDeluxe  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well that can be achieved with X-Plane's views system, by using keyboard commands to move the camera however you like. I have a tutorial right here: th-cam.com/video/6pkL5wNSYs4/w-d-xo.html Cheers

    Many thanks to you sir! It is a bit of a shame that paint.net doesn't have a poly selection tool. A lot of bing's discolouration is in straight line sections. May have to look at photoshop for this. Cheers from Australia

    Sehr hilfreich... auch wenn es eine Schweinearbeit ist. Vor allem wenn man Bing und Google mixt und es dann doch halbwegs einheitlich haben will. Frage: Gibt es auch einen Weg einen Wald dort zu platzieren, wo er auch hingehört? Is there a way to create a forrest where it should be, related to the texture on the ground?

    • @SimulationChannelDeluxe
      @SimulationChannelDeluxe  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ja es ist eine Riesenarbeit wenn man komplette Tiles wirklich einheitlich haben möchte, daher geht es hier eher darum, kleine Bereiche die WIRKLICH hässlich aussehen zu verbessern. Das ist auch schon ne Menge Arbeit ;) Bzgl. der Wälder, das ist leider nicht ohne weiteres möglich. Dafür müsste man irgendwie die OSM Daten für Wälder in den Simulator bekommen. Vielleicht mal die HD Mesh Scenery oder X-EUROPE versuchen, das könnte schon Verbesserungen bringen. Grüße

    May I suggest a tutorial? How to make the Airports look better.. sometimes even ZL19 doesnt look good!! THANK YOU!

    • @SimulationChannelDeluxe
      @SimulationChannelDeluxe  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah TheFSXChannel201 is correct, if the area just doesn't have good satellite imagery coverage then there's nothing to do about it. One general advice I can give is that usually Google imagery is a lot more sharp and crisp than Bing for example, so I usually choose GO2 for ZL18 and ZL19 around airports. Cheers and thanks for your comments :)

    I generated Ortho4XP for whole of Europe with ZL16. Each night I generated a country. Unfortunately, also if you generate a country in one batch, there will be tiles with a different color tint. That is a huge problem because it looks ugly. So I thought about correcting the tiles manually but came to the conclusion that it is just too much work, I have to accept it.

    • @SimulationChannelDeluxe
      @SimulationChannelDeluxe  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      True, the color differences and clouds on orthos are a huge problem. Fixing all the issues in Europe's tiles would take ages lol.

    • @SimulationChannelDeluxe
      @SimulationChannelDeluxe  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Then you forgot to "flatten"/ combine the layers before saving. That's an important step before you can save the files as .dds.

    • @SimulationChannelDeluxe
      @SimulationChannelDeluxe  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Womöglich hast du vergessen die verschiedenen Ebenen zu "verschmelzen", passiert mir auch manchmal. Dann speichert paint .net das ganze nur als .pdn Projekt Datei. Wenn man alles auf ein Layer kombiniert und (als .dds) speichert, müssten die Einstellungen erscheinen.
