- IAF Chief BS Dhanoa flew a sortie with Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman and said that it was an honour. BS Dhanoa also listed out similarities between himself and Abhinandan, who had downed a Pakistan F-16 during aerial combat in February. BS Dhanoa, who is set to retire later this year, also said that he had flown along with Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman’s father.
The recognition by Air Chief and his comment are really much encouraging and this will inspire every airman on the job .Our best wishes with all respects .Jai Hind.
Dang the Mig 21 looks like a cycle compared to today’s fighters. God, I wish the IAF just retires them. It’s 40+ year old technology.

To all those people making fun: The real intention of this sortie was to send a message across that 'look he's flying with the chief and you're so weak that you couldn't do anything to him' It also sends a message to air warriors that the chief is giving a moral booster to all pilots. Otherwise there are other pilots too, why fly only with abhinandan ji. Btw he also flew on IAF day 2019 leading the Mig formation (Pakistan ko thenga) I'm still curious why Pakistani airspace was closed for so many days while our airspace was business as usual.
