Yo Relous here, thanks for the upload. Did not rewatch this game until now because I'm obviously feeling terrible losing this and losing wcop due to this. Weirdly enough I don't really have regrets about this game. I still think all my plays were reasonable at the time without the benefit of hindsight. This was just very well played by Bro Fist and he punished all the calculated risks I had to take perfectly and got most plays right while I didn't. The key turn was the Ice Beam on Hydreigon as this essentially killed my Defogger and made me open for Spikes. Think what's important to mention is that I did not expect Ferro to have Spikes at this point as double hazard Ferro isn't that common and his team is very hazard weak and running double defog so that in most matchups Spikes is just a wasted move slot as you want to Defog yourself (and you can't expect Leechless Ferro to live for that long). I also expected Z Move to kill Kyurem. Even against Max HP I had a very good roll to do so and I didn't expect him to run no Speed at all. If Z Move kills or he isn't Spikes Ferro then even after the Ice Beam on Hydra I'm in a very good position so I really don't think that was a missplay without the benefit of hindsight. Also the +2 Glisc vs Zapdos turns would've won me the game immediately if I got any of them right and I just didn't and don't think there is an objective argument to favor Ice Fang or EQ in that situation.
some notes from an avid SM player 1. hydreigon doesn't really ever run flash cannon anymore, the dark z + earth power is definitely most common, with a bit of experimentation with z draco meteor to put the hurt on Manaphy being the other set ive seen running around 2. ditto cannot copy Z moves, but i agree that ditto was likely what was predicted on the turn bro fist ice beamed into scizor - any situation Relous could have copied KyuB or Diancie without needing to sack a mon was an opening that I figure was big enough to warrant the prediction. Ironically enough, its entirely possible Relous could have taken that figurative turn to Roost like brofist's Kyurem did throughout the game lol and a last thing to note, for how massive you identified that Ice Beam into Hydreigon was, what really stuck out to me is how much it opened up the entire gameplan following it; hydreigon was the defogger on Relous' end, and immediately after that beam theres a pivot in brofist's gameplan to bite the bullet on tspikes & turn it into the spikes loop he rode to victory. I can't even call it a misplay by Relous either, as the Scizor was chipped just enough to be wary of fbolt and it was an extremely ballsy play on his opponents' part. Finding that opportunity within the imposed time limit of his defoggers not keeping up with tspikes and having the stones to go through with it was masterful Glad to see you cover an SM game again, and especially one as good as this. Fucking awesome performance here from bro fist
I adore the thumbnail so much. The word that comes to mind is "radiant"; I love the blue. The Z-move text elevates it even more. It's so aesthetically pleasing; I just had to comment on it.
Honestly, it’s so near perfectly balanced despite Z-moves. Only thing I think that is truly broken is Ash-Gren. Don’t even think Magerna is that broken in hindsight
As a lover of bulky teams, few things scared me more in SM OU than seeing a Kyurem-Black on the other side - even with defensive Magearna, it'd basically always pick up at least one kill and/or punch massive holes in my team
these greatest battles vids are some of my absolute favorites from you, every single one is a banger and highlights what you do best. also the "greatest" battles is a classic
Sometimes you have to "play to your outs" in order to win a game, because playing to "not lose" won't get you to your wincon in time for avoiding a more immediate loss to matter. That kind of risk is inherent in all games with hidden variables, and a key part of risk mitigation is knowing WHEN to play into those kinds of risks. You see this all the time in Trading Card Games for instance.
an important lesson in "who's the beatdown" also: never try to play around something you cant beat anyway. you do not get extra points for draggin things out another 30 turns to then still lose.

Pokemon's greatest battle surely has to be our continued fight for freedom against the tyrant Finchinator
I wholeheartedly agree

I love how these 2 teams have 12 unique mons but are matched up so evenly, Gen 7 is such a good gen

bro fist in the year 2024???
peak

Espically those z sets
Z-slammer is just straight up an insta kill on basically every Mon in gen7
bro fist is so fucking good even after not playing this tier for years. Actual goat.
If it weren’t for the date in the title, I would’ve assumed this was a battle from 2016. Shoutout to goat fist

Scizor and Gliscor on a team will forever get me amped up. Thats such a fun core.
Mfs will watch a battle like this and still argue boots are good for the game lmao
Nah but fr, incredible analysis
42:43 I screamed WHAT when Kyurem came in bro 😭
OBS revived at the right time
I saw this game today and already knew it was a classic
Lesson: run Taunt on your fini, unless you're Bro Fist
Wow that was an amazing battle
your favorite player's favorite player, my man big day
Finally your best series returns
This is one of my favorite series. So happy it’s back:)
This thumbnail goes extremely hard
The hype before the actual battle was heat

So glad greatest battles is back!!!
Gen 7 🔥🔥
where do you find live tourney games? Do i have to participate myself if i want to see along with the crowd?
if you're just starting out, you can watch them and ask about what's happening here: smogtours.psim.us
@@BKCplaysPokemon my day was made seeing a top level gen 3 Uber game. thank you.
bro fist back on Northeast just feels right.
appreciate the rejuv soundtrack
I wonder how much dammage hazards did this game
The Legendary serie continue
30 seconds in and we have an inspiring intro
is there a reason bro fist has 2 defoggers plus magic bounce? It seems excessive, even with two Pokemon weak to rocks
Yeah his Fini would've been way better with taunt, serves the purpose of preventing hazards while adding additional stallbreaking
@@redwarrior118 is whirlpool still viable in gen7?
You know this isnt what we want mr bkc
I fucking had you
Patience. He's still trying to get that interview with Lavos, which would truly make the project shine.

I love gen 7 ou
BKC
Why did bro fist not use ferro to check ditto copying diancie? Seems safer when you need Fini full HP for ditto copying kyu-b, no?
mr bkc where you a model in the past?
Missing moves like Heat Wave , Sacred Fire or Dragon Tail especially two times in a row is horrible
ditto can't use z freeze shock, it has to be holding icium z for that!!
