back in the day he wanted Jessica to be so submissive and would not support her in her endeavors and she did try to be submissive, but he would actually would knock her down, but now he has someone who is not super submissive, and he goes along with what she wants. maybe it is just a sign that he has matured or chilled with age. Plus, Jessica was outshining him in terms of her fame growing during their marriage and maybe at the time that was hard for his ego to take. Too, Jessica was much more in the limelight and sexualized than his current wife, and that was probably not good for their marriage, too. Nonetheless, he did seem very hard on her. He probably compared her to his own mom, however, Jessica was not going to be a housewife and nothing more, she had goals and so things like doing laundry were not tasks she needed to do to reach her goals, and, at the time, he didn’t quite understand that...partly probably do to coming from a very patriarchal background where women are overshadowed. a man can still be head of household spiritually, which means he is humble and supportive, but being HOH not in a spiritual way is just brutality bc it comes from false pride and a false sense of power and lordship over the woman, rather than from a place of love.

Back in the day before internet/social media, as a teen, friends would give you a phone number of a guy or girl they knew to see if you would hit it off & you would talk on the phone to get to know that person before really knowing what they looked like.
