Hi lovely couple, well the thai goverment has done it from 3rd of Jan 2024 expats living there will be taxed 35% on there pension and savings brought into the country, shocked iam , we were about to retire there, but not now so next year were on a visit to the phillipinnes on a research to living there .
It's true. 35% on money remitted to thailand. So if you send yourself $1000 - 350 will have to be paid in tax. How they collect it I'm not clear on. but obviously what's going to happen is all the pensioners will find a new place to live.

I was on the bus here in negros from escalade to San Carlos in the bus went over a bridge and hit a large construction run in road. I was sitting over the back axel and got tossed up in the air above a foot at least when i came down i cracked my tailbone. Took at least 3 days to start feeling better.
I love Mike! I'll keep away from the bus. HA! I am not looking for a woman using a checklist and I am not looking for a wife. The LDR pinay that caught my eye is ghosting me and it seems like a bad idea to track her down [stalk her], so my reasons to visit are kaput. No, I didn't give her a penny. She never asked. No longer do I have to worry about drinking the water, or meeting her family. Money: What about using a cash machine with a debit card? Is it hard to find one? My bank said that works best. Hi Mike and Janet. I always like the Q and A always learn something. Well this is day one of my trip back to the USA. It’s cold snow and now raining and I am cold. I miss the warm weather of the Philippines. Be back in Dumaguete end of January.

I’m still trying to figure out the best method of money transfer, from the U.S. to the P.I. I’ll probably have to use a 3rd party service to do it😢 I’ll talk to my Fiancé’s bank when I’m there, after the new year.
Cebu is more expensive from what I can tell - and - a lot more congested with traffic. -- Trade-offs are part of life - just can't have it all ! -- Wife material may not be quite as good in Cebu which may have more party animals. -- All bus rides suck on bad roads (?) some are not comfortable sitting for many hours. -- Visiting and living somewhere are 2 different things. Hope Monty is doing better.
Mike & Janet. My Filipina wife hasn't used her Filipino passport for almost 40 years, obviously WAY expired, we only use our U.S. passports. Wondering how painful they will make it for us to spend 3-6-12 months in Philippines? Any advice would be helpful. Gleðileg Jól & Maayong Pasko🌲
Good shared commentary to help us understand the pros and cons and contrasts between cities. and the transportation options. Why would you take the ocean jet for 4 hours when you can fly in 40 minutes i wondered. One reason might be that flights to Duma only go in the evening, but the boat goes several times a day to Duma? The evening flight schedule only is my dilemma; would rather go in the morning but have to wait all day till night time to fly. The cost to fly is just $10 or so more that the boat for the same trip so don’t see that as a factor. The short flight has small seats but its only for a few minutes. What guides you choice?
Regarding that Balikbayan visa, as far as I know you ONLY get it, if you as a foreign husband arrive in the Philippines together with your Filipina wife. Just to present a marriage certificate when arriving alone, does not suffice. Maybe that has changed?
The "Truth", Cebu is almost as dangerous as Manila. It's a BIG CITY and you lose the small town or sense of community feel and NOT NEARLY as safe as smaller provincial cities like Dumaguete, CDO, Iloilo etc etc
Ok.. Mr. Mike--- I had also left this question on Leah's husbands page. I'm interested in knowing of you who have been in the Philippines & married to Filipina's. I'm an American, who is wondering about dating(with eventual marriage) and love the idea of how Filipina's tend to be Christian (or at least have Christian/family values) .. but I myself am a Native American Church member(also called The Peyote Church by some) which is esoteric & I'm afraid that would put Filipina's off? Some more orthodox Christian adherents consider my practices spiritualism & divination & seem to have automatic hatred towards me.
Mike you need to have a baby with your wife. If not, she might leave you. Just ask mark thorton and Monty crew. They’re afraid their wife dump them for a younger western man 🧍♂️
@@rustynail3630 they care more about themselves than the baby. They just want to be happy today and could care less about how it might affect their child emotion and feelings.
This comment questions the commitment these wives have to their husbands regardless of a baby w them or not. I would think these wives would consider this comment a personal insult to them and their love for these guys. If they are really that shallow that they would dump their husband for a younger guy they would just fail in the next relationship as well. It would be a stupid move anyway; the older husbands are likely to leave earth soon enough while the wives are still young, leaving them w his provisions for a future life, so they would cheat themselves by leaving him. (this the case as long as he is a good caring husband to them of course) Filipinas are known to take care of their man to the end. Look at Reekays wife who stuck w him through blindness, several severe illnesses for a long time until he recovered and he cant have kids. BTW Mark was not expecting or planning to be able to have kids so it was not his plan to keep his wife true to him. 🙄
