    Saw one of these F Models up close and running. Extremely small, loud and maneuverable.

    Fantastic work, very impressive that you can get this level of quality by brush painting.

    I'm starting to learn airbrushing, but I believe I will try hand-brushing acrylics once more, after your excellent video. Cheers from France.

      Decent results can be achieved by hand brushing, but airbrush quality will be superior. Cheers.

    Excellent video, thank you so much!
    Was thinking about buying this kit. As someone relatively new to the hobby, with two finished models and no airbrush, this video filled me with a lot of confidence.

      P.S. I want to ask your opinion on tamiya acrylics. Are they any good for brush painting?
      Zvezda paints are hot garbage, with zero adhesion.

    • @brushpaintedmodels7086
      @brushpaintedmodels7086  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tamiya acrylics are high quality paints, but probably better for airbrushing. They are alcohol based, and dry fast. Honestly, I haven't tried yet to paint a whole kit with Tamiya acrylics, only some smaller parts, but it was fine. If you give it a go I would add a drop or two of X-20A Thinner, to have better flow and prolonged drying time. Or maybe even a paint retarder, I have in plan to test it. Anyway, Vallejo Model Color and Revell Aqua are great paints for brush painting, they are water based. Make sure you apply a primer before painting, it helps a lot with paint adhesion. Or at least wash the model in soapy water before painting, to get rid of grease from it's surface.

    QUICK TIP: Allways put glossy black under an aluminum color! It greatly enhances the shine.

    I'm new to model building, so forgive the dumb question. You don't have to use a gloss coat prior to decals and wash?

    • @brushpaintedmodels7086
      @brushpaintedmodels7086  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You don't have to, but it's good to do so. A gloss coat will seal your paint, and make the surface smooth, so the decals will adhere better to it, and your wash will flow in the panel lines better as well.

    • @brushpaintedmodels7086

    I have the exact same issue with that missing afterburner part, thought was a single case, also I cannot understanding why did they separate fuselage into to two pieces, requires even more time on building and sanding

    Well done, but i recommend you using paint retarder for metallic paints

    • @brushpaintedmodels7086
      @brushpaintedmodels7086  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks. Yes, some retarder can be beneficial to slow down the drying time of acrylic paints, if it's warm and air humidity is low.

    Huh, the casting issu is weird, as a Zvezda main that made in total 79 zvezda models ranging from sizes years and eras ( as in old sets and sets about old and new tech ) this casting problems is…… weird, usually there are some priblems with casting but to the outside that you have to cut iff, on de other hand there is a problem with wings nor fitting onto older one wing designs where the underside of the wings is a separate part, and sometimes there’s like 3/4 mm and so….. putty

    оставляю послание новичкам - у этой модели (весь) стабилизатор клеится хз как на глаз, так как нету направляющих, тупо люфтит место склеивания, лучше купить миг 15 или от других производителей
