Thanks for sharing that information and the tutorial. I only wish youtube was around years back. Now days you can use a manual and see how it's done. They dont have tips like this in the manual!!

Broken motor mounts are notorious on these Buick V6 engines. I had to go to a real expensive high end replacement back in the 90's to keep it from happening again on my 1981 Cutlass sedan

I have been fussing with my battery and alternator since october because of the charge warning light. In Alberta there have been some -30 degree days and I do not want that battery to freeze. Every time I checked the battery the charge was good. Every time I checked the charge from the alternator 13.5 volts. Good.
I had not got around to checking out thew seat belt warning system that also failed because I believed it to be less important. On the front left fender under the hood there is a heat resistance switch (normally closed) on a circuit that was rusted. my cutlass is an 1978 with 350 v8. What is that rusted switch for?
Thanks again for your insights. It is much too cold out here to be messing around. most of my time has been spent digging the car out of the snow. with 120 cm of snow I finally purchased some snow chains. I will make a video of this most excellent addition to the cutlass... these tire chains are just too cool; eh?
I can't wait for daylight to look at my problem with the charge light.

I’m having the same exact issue on my 1987 cutlass with the 3.6. The smog pump has been removed I traced all wires countless times can seem to find the short. It pops the fuse as soon as I turn the key on. Any thoughts? Super frustrating!!

Take the 2 small bolts off to take the steering wheel cover off. There is a plastic the turns into the steering wheel . Sometimes it brakes and wont let's it push down. I can send you a picture if you would like.

What small things that cause such pesky issues.
Are you in command of your neighborhood watch, because I think you'd be a good one.

No offense, but why does everyone make a deal about me looking around at my surroundings? I don't get it. I just tend to be observant of the area I'm in. You wouldn't believe the amount of money I've found from looking along the ground as I walk somewhere.
That's also how I find old cars and trucks. I notice EVERYTHING.

WhoSaidTyler In the first line, I was talking about the wiring which you had originally missed, not about your surroundings. :) What I meant was, it is interesting how such small things make such a big difference in wiring etc.

If you complain, I complain: Your grammar is poor. "U" is a LAZY way of spelling "you", and you used the wrong form of the word "too". You better make sure you are PERFECT before making complaints.
