Anyone who has had a *very* traumatic moment in their life knows what disassociating means. Helaena was doing that.
Agreed. It's so strange how some people (mostly on twitter) don't understand this 😭
Agreed. Helaena anyways is neurodivergent, people expecting her to be all haunghty about this whole sequence are expecting too much.
But wouldn't be your first instinct to somehow save your child
@@RhaenyraT2001 What was she to do when there are two brutes with massive knives at your throat and they threaten to kill you and both the children?
i think it's pretty clear she seen paths in her head and it's just artistically conveyed as dissociation. She chose the one that allowed her to save the girl. I also think the neckless was intentional. Maybe they can track one of them trying to sell it off.
Larys burned down White Worm's house at the end of Season 1 and spent this episode killing all of her informants. She was on the ship because she lost everything in King's Landing and knew she wasn't safe, so she was trying to escape.
Dang I rewatched it and still forgot
Seems like Mysaria isn't that smart in the show compared to the book. She's supposed to have built herself up from nothing with wits and guile, but how could she have trusted Otto, and not had a contingent plan for him likely turning against her?
@@pajamaparty01it wasn't otto that betrayed her, larys did this on alicent's order
@@pajamaparty01 Otto did not turn on her, Alicent did.
That or she's working together with Larys and they agreed that she would spy on the blacks while he spied on the greens. Source: Larys "removed" all unloyal servants and yet Cheese still worked there, and no alarm was sounded when eyebrows lady saw them.
The way Rhaenyra only had 1 line this episode but Emma D'arcy filled the whole episode with their acting is crazy. I didn't even notice.
She gave a performance worthy of Paddy. It's also a nod to Matt Smith in episode 3 when he didn't say a word in the last part of the episode.
She had the least to say but gave the most impactful performance ❤
Ikr. She owned it straight to an Emmy
I will give her credit for her acting for sure on this.
Emma D'Arcy (Rhaenyra) is non binary and uses they/them pronouns.
Hearing a toddlers head being crudely sawed off may have been more horrific than seeing it.
And people are complaining they didn’t show what they did in the books. wild
@@jord1215 because the interaction felt better, in the books. Aemond was never the target, and the quote with "your momma wants you dead" then killing the other boy was just better.
@@Kaddahn For the book, yeah. But with how they have adapted it for the show I think this way works great. Rhaenyra said, in front of a crowded room, that she wanted Aemond. So Daemon making it seem like the target was him, but knowing full well Blood and Cheese weren't capable of taking him out but most likely would cause some kind of chaos and madness works perfect to me.
@@Kaddahn Still. It had no reason to show it.
@@jord1215they didn’t need to show anything, but they still seriously pulled their punch
Helaena comes across as someone who knows exactly what's going to happen while simultaneously having no idea of how to use that knowledge to affect the perceived outcome.
I think like most people with visions in fantasy stories, she can't interpret her visions correctly. She probably saw a dream of a rat eating away a flesh, and was like "better hire some ratcatchers". Not realizing that the ratcatchers were the threat. If you recall, in GoT Melisandre thought that Stannis was a promised prince whereas her visions did not explicitly say that, she just assumed it had to be.
Thats so Raven

The Velaryon's have a blockade around King's Landing. Her boat was boarded and she was taken prisoner.
And she was fleeing King’s Landing because Larys had her house burned down in the 9th episode last season. She was probably trying to cross the Narrow Sea.
Tom(Aegon) improvised all of his one liners he said in interview
Which is hilarious as he’s the only person in the show who had any sort of humour.
@@daquaviousbingleton9763 i agree he is like comedic relief everyone is so serious but it will change because Aegon will change
So the best character was all improvisation? Grim.
Aegon was wrong with sheep but he was right with weapons he needs small folks and he knows it
Even his intention was right though despite the logistics and politics being wrong. Would rather a King actually doing shit for the smallfolk or at least attempting to than not doing anything at all. Also, you're completely correct about the smiths. If they can't afford to make your weapons then you're fucked and Aegon knew it and I also think Otto realized he was right too
Exactly he’s not as bad at being king as they suggested but unlike his half sister he wasn’t groomed for it so he’s basically learning and understands at least the basic principal of the common people are unhappy it can lead to even more chaos for instance Joffrey in season 2 of GoT didn’t value the people at all and they let him know the feeling was mutual
Fr, Aegon honestly handled the Smiths situation really well after learning from Sheep situation. Otto was too impatient in here.
@@Tooba-K123to be brutally honest people hate him because they love team black he’s nowhere near as evil as Yk who by the end of the books. He’s also quite funny in the show.

A note on the beach scene with Rhaenyra and Syrax - Luc's dragon was a hatchling of Syrax, so when she howled it really hit home, as it was 2 mothers grieving together.
This show does such a good job at getting little details like that right.
Its not confirmed in canon that Syrax was Arrax mother.
@@perseusveil9376 Hmmm, looking into it I guess it's just been a long time fan theory - Because it's good and adds drama, I'm going to choose to believe it's true
@@obijuan-kenobi5117 Its a nice headcanon, but its necessary to clarify its just that, a theory. The HOTD tiktokers are being bad enough muddling the lore for their team wars (mostly team black tbh).

So yeah, one dumb thing can grow into an entire circus and the discourse suffers for it and suddenly the dragons are an alternative family with their dynamics and relationships and yeah, no lol
Alicent desperately scrubbing that one spot on her body, in the tub...Had some serious Lady McBeth vibes.....
Yeah that and it’s a call back to season 1 when she had the habitat of bitting/picking her nails till they bled
I'm still on Rhaenyra's side but my god does my heart hurt for Helaena and her children other than Luke they were the most innocent in the war.
Wdym other than Luke? Helaena and her kids are all more innocent than Luke. Luke already bloodied his hands when he mutilated Aemond who he also bullied. If he apologized for that when he was older in the dinner scene, it would've been forgiven but he instead added salt to the wound. Helaena never hurt anyone in anyway and her kids are toddlers.
@@rexibhazoboa7097 Exactly! People keep acting like the Blacks are so innocent. Rhaenyra was extremely manipulative, using Criston, intentionally having three bastards, and showing no care at all. Everyone has bastards, but they don't typically have them claim someone else's lands and titles. Luke took Aemond's eye, and don't even get me started on Daemon. He's a psychopath. However, the way they're writing the show makes it seem like the Blacks are so pure and the Greens are the antagonists. Otto, for example, gets such a bad rap. What did he do that's so different from Corlys?

But never have I heard anybody complain they are making him to evil. He should be more evil than he is portrayed. That man is 10 times worse than Aemond and Aegon combined.
Out of all the characters that deserved something bad to happen to them, Blood and Cheese go after sweet Helaena and her defenseless sleeping children, which is only going to make everything worse.
Helaena comes off as troubled to me, like her visions haunt her every waking moment, but she doesnt fully understand them until it's too late and no one listens to her when she says stuff like "Beware the beast beneath the boards" or "I'm afraid of the rats". However, she's been very normal in her other her quips with Aegon.
That line in Season 1 Episode 8 when she's giving a toast was savage: "I would like to toast Baela and Rhaena. They'll be married soon. It isn't so bad. Mostly, he just ignores you... except sometimes when he's drunk."
"The queen is an enduring mystery, is she not?"

22:25 theres a blockade between King's landing and Dragonstone. Her house was burned down last season. She escaped by stowing aboard a ship. The blockade intercepted the ship. And because they recognise her as being previously acquainted to Daemon, they braught her to him.
Aegon has NO idea how to be the king, he wasn't trained for it. He was the Spare, not the Heir, so no one ever taught him the art of governing, which is something that it seems like the Hightowers didn't take into account during those YEARS of plotting to overthrown Rhaenyra...or if they did take it into account, they stopped at thinking Aegon would just be the uninformed figurehead and they could rule through him. But without the years and years of training, all the drilling about duty and honor and what a ruler actually DOES for their kingdom, Aegon never developed the temperament or the steadiness of character to sit on the Iron Throne. And if Otto and his daughter don't get that through their heads VERY soon, it's going to be bad for everybody.
That the greens are this stupid is kind of funny to me.
Which is why he wanted his own son there. Aegon's actor in an interview said Aegon is deeply affected by his father's neglect and wanted his own son to be raised better and learn how to be King. And, for all his major flaws, he's trying to fill the role of King
He was actually smart in investing in the smiths considering whats about to happen. Obviously Otto doesn't like it cause its spending money on promises, but its sensible considering the guild we're talking about. This version of Aegon has the advantage of seeing things outside the frame of an heir or a noble who actually wanted to rule. Not saying he's a genius mind you, or that he's great at it, but he's more rat from Flea Bottom than prince from the Red Keep, and that explains his sensibility to the smallfolk, which can have good effects and bad effects. In any case its canon, as he and Helaena were described a popular/liked by the smallfolk in the books.
@09hicktown Still far smarter than Team Black with their gaslighting queen (Rhaenyra gaslighting Alicent throughout S1), and a mindless, bloodthirsty impulsive psychopath in Daemon, who's not half as smart as Team Black fanboys and fangirls think he is.
@tablesalt2628 Rhaenyra "the wants of the smallfolk are of no consequence"
Mysaria wasn't trying to go to Dragonstone. She was trying to flee KL, but the blockade meant her ship was stopped and searched, which allowed them to capture her. She is originally from Lys, she was probably trying to go back there.
"It's Bran!" wait.. It LITERALLY could be though. fuuuuuuu
He's the Three-Eyed Raven who sees and knows potentially everything that has ever happened.

Neither Aegon. Especially in a time of peace. The only character I can see being extremely violent in peace or war is Daemon
Aemond commits the most disastrous violence against civilians in the whole story.
Aegon at least tries to care for the peasants and the smallfolk
He rapes servants and supports the mutilation of poor children for entertainment. Even leaving his own bastards in those fighting pits.
Show Aegon wants to be liked, the way many narcissists do. That doesn't mean he cares about anyone.
Uhm, he literally rapes the small folk women (the maids) and remember the children fighting pits 😭 I won’t deny his character is interesting but I don’t think he cares about them, I think he cares about being liked by the smallfolk/being seen as a good king
He SA'd the young maids in the Keep. I mean, I guess that's caring for the small folk in some twisted way.
@@KelliFranklinI think the idea was pre crowning aegon was just an alcoholic brute that didn’t expect to have any responsibility other than fucking around and doing as he pleased. After being crowned its obvious he did want to be a good king (still a prick but was trying), but after the death of his son he just goes full wrath of the dragon which clouds his judgement.
@@leeshropshire6346 Yeah, I get that. That's fair enough.
This episode was really solid, but I really hate the change to have Alicent and Cole have sex specifically during Blood and Cheese. In the book Alicent was with Helaena and the reason the assassins even managed to get to them was because Helaena was visiting her mother with the children which made them vulnerable.
I don't think the change of alicent not having been there makes any functional difference atleast narratively as B&C acts as one of the many things that drive her nuts, and she still has that in the show as when her kid was going through this she was having sex, it just gives her more to do and is more in line is the this character they're going for in the show so I'm personally quite happy with the change
The intro is like Helaena said
*_"Dragons of flesh weaving dragons of thread"_*
Just think of this: they took the child's head. Imagine walking into your son's room and seeing his headless body in his bed...shit just got serious for Aegon.

Blood & Cheese was a lot more darker in the book then what they showed, but the tension leading up to that moment was still great. Also we got a name drop in the epsiode for the Dalton Greyjoy aka Red Kraken😈, but they'll probably save his appearance season 3. I just hope we see the lads & bloody ben this season !! 💯🙏
Hbo are not going to go that dark and i’m glad they didn’t
They couldn't have portrayed it like it was in the book because Maelor didn't exist on the show prior to this episode so it was likely that, going into this episode, we would not get the book version. It was still rather gruesome and intense.
@@Regenmacher175 True due to his character missing they were unable to do that scene justice, however I still see that as a mistake by the showrunners. Because Maelor is not just a important character for the Blood & Cheese incident, but he is also important to another subplot that happens later on to showcase the horrors of this war. I really don't understand why would Ryan make such drastic changes like this, it's giving me D&D flashbacks. I just hope characters like the Lads, Bloody Ben & Black Aly get the proper respect from the showrunners.
@@timothypolanco8622 You won't get everything from the book and you need to accept the fact that with adaptations the people adapting it get to put their spin on the story. They're telling their version of the story, not you. And btw, D&D made GOT the most popular show of the last decade that kept people watching eagerly every week. I am happy if they stick to the main plot points. The rest is just icing on the cake.
Kingsguard are allowed to fight in wars by the way! If you remember in Game of Thrones, Ser Barristan Selma was a war veteran as well as Kingsguard
I totaly agree that Phia played Helaena's reaction EXACTLY the way one would expect Helaena to react given the way the character was established in season 1. Great reaction - it was almost like what my reaction would have been had I been looking in a mirror the first time I watched it!
Fire and Blood is written just like a history tome. No dialogue or drama, just facts. It’s not what most people are expecting from a Martin book. That might also account for the lower sales
Not even facts really. It's a telling of events from history from unreliable narrators from their perspectives. Which makes it even better.
Why it didnt sell is unknown to me but its written like the main books where you should take things with a grain of salt especially when theres multiple viewpoints
@yetibeardson1168 It is much like history books on medieval and ancient history. The contemporary source material (aside from record logs, if available) are usually from people who have an axe to grind in whatever political conflict was going on, so the historian has to decide what actually happened and what was embellished for the source's agenda.

This was the Blood&Cheese moment, Nerdy. Except in the book, it's more protracted and gruesome and I don't think they can show it on TV. Think ISIS beheadings but for a child. The rat catcher is named Cheese and the gold cloak loyal Daemon is named Blood.
I think the book was more psychologically torturous for Halaena, but I wouldn't say it was more gruesome. Jahaerys got a quick death in the book. In the show, they slit his throat and immediately began cutting off his head. Slowly. A slit throat isn't an immediate death, that boy was still alive when they began sawing at his neck. That's WAY more gruesome than a quick beheading he didn't see coming cause his mom chose his brother and they just whacked his head off instead. Everyone complaining about it being so much worse in the book, nah. Being slowly beheaded and unable to scream as you bleed to death and feel your neck being sawed into is so much worse than a quick and painless beheading you didn't see coming cause you thought it was your brother that was gonna die.

I was actually surprise at how kindly Aegon treated the petitioners. He doesn't seem as vindictive as last season. He was far less callous to their requests than the Hand. I don't think he was terrible at that at all. He was trying to be kind to them. And taking a tithe right before winter is cruel, he was trying to alleviate that. The Hand could care less.
And Aegon clearly loved his son... which means his reaction to his death is going to flip all that I suspect.
I'm also surprised that the dragon saddles don't have a pennant for identification unique to each rider. It would make sense for ease of identification, and likely wouldn't interfere at all if placed correctly. Trailing behind the saddle or even a smaller one on a short pole (that could be used as a spear) on the front, would have no significant drag, nor get in the way of wings or limbs.

He is doing "what smallfolk want" in an audience for the appearance. Not for their benefit, but for his. All the other decisions affecting the rest of the population beyond the couple dozen in the throne room at that point are made out f their view. And unsurprisingly he suddenly does not give a damn about the details. Listen to the rest of his "decisions" throughout the episode.
And people conveniently seem to forget his history in this episode. Yes, he got the short end of the stick in his education, but that in no way, shape or form excuse what he made of himself. Let's review. He is an epitome of a deadbeat husband, a cruel and capricious sociopath, a rapist, a sadist who enjoys his own bastard children fight to the death...
The best that could be expected of his rule would actually be his short attention span with him tiring of the business of ruling quickly and his council taking the reins completely. Just as Alicent described.
They clearly don't understand Aegon's character at all. He is a good king. He isn't an idiot. He is just careless and nonchalant, not dumb. He is also a loving father. In the books i don't think he raped anybody. He was a creep though but not a rapist.
I mean he's trying to be good it doesn't mean he is but he is more complex that they think
I knew the Stark theme a second in. I knew where we were. Knowing music informs SO much of this show.
In the book, the torture of B&C was so brutal that it totally broke Helaena and she didn't eat, sleep, talk and didn't even take care her remaining children anymore. 😢
Syrax screaming when Rhaenyra found Luc's remains was not only her feeling Rhaenyra's pain but an expression of her own pain as she was mother of Luc's dragon Arrax. Two mothers mourning together.
After Blood and Cheese, rat catchers in the Red Keep were replaced with cats. That's why Arya had so many cats to catch when training with her dancing master, Syrio Forel
Criston Cole was probably supposed to be on guard duty, which made it easier for the intruders to get to the Queen and her children.
I would guess he 'guards' the queens every night. But as commander of the KL he should be the one stationing the other knights at their posts. There's no reason to not have a guard at the Queen's chamber doors, so somebody f'ed up big time.
Actually aegon is a good king lol you can see he is trying
It’s his first day. The novelty will wear off.
Really not thinking about the livestock as taxes for the war was his one goof.
Announcing that he'll burn the enemy ships would be the logical move to break a blockade. It kills room for negotiating but not totally.
Paying the blacksmiths in advance to guarantee production makes sense also. Need the weapons and best to keep them making them happy.
Lmao the two cut scenes when he’s all he came all the way and they won’t know is hilarious
@@SteezLouise More so the war is kicked into overdrive. Can't really wear off and become bored if your son has been murdered and you now have to be fully engaged in a war to keep yourself and the rest of your family alive
Aegon was actually good dealing with the petitioners, not sure what yall are seeing tbh
exactly he was the only one trying to help the smallfolk
Was actually so heartbroken for Halaena and also Aegon in a sense. Same pain that Rhaenyra felt, but Halaena actually watched her son die and get beheaded as well 💔
I could watch aegon hearing petitions all day and Otto trying to tell him why he shouldn’t give everyone what they want instantly.
I was like what did corlys do? 😂
What tickles me about everyone hyping up Vhagar and Aemond is that they don’t know it was an accident. B&C still managed to kill a member on the Royal family despite the dragons presence. Vhagar is only a deterrent for direct attacks, not surgical ones. Basically Targaryen’s put way too much on the dragons, they don’t really think outside the box most times
Aegon is bad at being king because no one prepared him for it, viserys literally ignored him
Aegon really isn’t that bad of a king. He just needed normal counselors. In reality he tried to do the good thing, didn’t realize he couldn’t be blunt about it 😅
Alicent: Aemond accidentally murdered his nephew!
Otto: Boys will be boys 🤷🏼♂️
To be fair, Damon avenging his stepson is doing the twisted stepdad shit.
Hey Nerdy....I thought it was a good joke. 🙂
Also, Lord Larys burnt down the White Worms "headquarters" at the end of season one. She was on the run. At least that's how it seems to me.
45:18 - Oh, you’ll see. “Listen to your elders” will be his lesson.
Poor Corlys catching strays 🤣
Dragoncock just makes me think it’s got scales and will burn you
You can get a similar noise cutting through pig flesh roughly...
36:49 - “Incest lubricant” is fucking wild. Love it.
tbh I think the last scene would’ve been better if it was like the book (or what I’ve read happened in the book), having to chose between Jaehaerys and Jaehaera doesn’t really make sense to me
we all said that already
Cranky Criston is the kind of the character who...I'm so sick of his bs, I just wanna be like, "Can you just go away, sir? Like if you could die in a fire, that'd be great, I just don't want you HERE ruining my good time."
There was not much strategizing on the Black side because Rhaenyra has been checked out since Luke's death, and was only concerned with revenge on Aemond when she returned.
You guys think maybe Alyn the shipwright has his head and face completely shaven?
Directly after Larys says he has chosen her new staff, she wants to bathe alone? Layers.
Aegon is an idiot when it comes to practical matters, but he's at least not a cruel little prick by nature. I think that scene is meant to show us that he's not Joffrey.
Dragon Airport. lol
Harsh vs cruel is an important distinction.
Claroos calling out Aegon's need for love. Exactly my read on the character.
**Mysaria being a stowaway on a ship most likely fleeing Westeros after she was being hunted, gets caught and brought to prison**
NN: "Why is she here?"
It's strange that they think Rhaenyra would be angry, they just killed her son to the point that she doesn't speak and she said she wanted revenge.
She just lost her son. Yes she did say she said she wanted her sons killer. But to think she wanted wanton murder against another child? I highly doubt that. She will absolutely be angry.
It's very strange when someone can't understand the concept that an angry person could actually direct their anger towards the person responsible rather than bystanders such as innocent children
You guys saw that after saying that she is afraid of the rats she looked directly at the cradle of little Jaehaerys, she had a prophetic dream about the death of her own son. And before Aegon entered the room, Helaena said, "They just want the boy".
They gonna question Criston about his whereabouts during the night.. cant wait :D
I watched the episode, but now that I watch the reactions, I never notice that the Royal Guards are to busy getting drunk with Aegon, so drunk and stupid that not notice Blood and Cheese walk in front of them, and Cole is so busy having sex with Alicent that he never bother to order the guards partially guard the Queen, no even in the book they are this incompetent, well, maybe Aegon, but at least the Kings Guards did their jobs.
Can you guess why Aegon cannot become king? he doesn't know how to. King Viserys brought Rhaenyra to the council since she's small to learn. He even accepted her ideas to solve problems before. He never brought Aegon to his council because he never intended to make him king. Rhaenyra will know exactly what to say to all those pheasants, Aegon does not.

How can people watch this show with only one headphone in???
The Tampon exchange is one of the funniest in your entire watching history.
Did anyone else notice Helaena stopped and gasped and was completely rerouted when she got to the middle of the bottom floor? How is nobody talking about this???? She clearly saw something??? And they clearly pan the camera to show you it wasn't a person. Ghost of the former king??? Someone else dead? Just Sir Krispy Kremes absense maybe??? I cant find anyone talking about this moment???
Pretty sure it was still just a reaction of shock. She was clearly looking for someone, anyone and couldn’t find anyone. It just looked like she truly grasped that she was on her own and what had happened in that moment, and so was about to be overcome by panic, but then she went back into autopilot and kept searching.
@@a.j.1819 I would agree with you if it was filmed the way it was filmed, they were very intentional on how they swung the camera around to see here perspective. What would be the point of that???
Nerdy: its like a tampon!
Never change nerdy never change
The ending scene is significantly worse in the books. The boy was the target from the get go. They tied her and alicent up and made her choose which of her 2 sons was gonna die when she refused they threatened to r... her daughter she chooses the younger son hoping he didn't know what was happening then blood leaned in and whispered to him "see that boy your mom wants you dead" and then kills his brother.
Nerdy please tell you you didn't think that giant inflatable on the empire state building was real. It's so clearly cgi. Same as all the banners and other stuff. Come on people
The problem with Amazon Prime isn't the CGI, but the writing. No amount of experience fixes hiring hack writers.
Mysaria is there to corrupt Rhaenyra’s mind💀
I highly doubt that i know she does drive a wedge in F&B i don't think that's gonna be the case in hotd
We all thought the White Worm was dead, so she clearly took a big swing ;) hehe
The sound effect people obviously did their job successfully because that was .... wow. I love that for them but hate it for us. Lol
With season 1, they gave us what we wanted right away: dragons. And then did it again with season 2: Winterfell. ❤🎉
The guy who plays Jace is such a good actor.

Remember, she’s home was put on fire by Larys in the last season.
Sorry, she = White Worm
I get it's cool to hate on Aegon but why are yall acting like he did something wrong this episode ? He literally is helping the smallfolk something joffery would never do & yall keep comparing the Greens to joffrey cause yall love for team black😂& hate green so are we forgetting the guy who killed his wife with a rock ? Same guy helped kill a innocent guy to rhaenyra fake husband ? How about sending ppl to kill kids ? Idk how yall think only team green is bad when black is just as bad if not worse
When aegon walked into Helaenas room, the maids looked terrified, they are smallfolk as well. So even though Aegon is an interesting character, he’s still a rapist.
Also they didn’t kill laenor, thought that was established.
Alexa, order a new pair of period underwear.
Emmy nomination for the Handling of Fire and Candles
the murder scene is worse in the books.
The kids are a bit older. And there are two sons.
The murderers asks haleana which one is the heir... and they kill the other one... So the surviving son knows his mother chose him to die.
4 minutes in and I Clarisse is out her just reminding me of why she’s one of my favorite reactors, and on top of that she could probably turn me straight 😂😂😂
I love your guys’ channel
You should check her OF then.
o.O?!
'Tampon'?! YIKES!
How 'bout a 'DRESSING' (Wound)? LOL
Daemon told them to kill the heir to the king if they didnt find Aemond xDD Man's SAVAGE!
Mysaria was escaping Kings Landing because Larys tried to murder her. She didn’t expect to be found on the ship.
the "blood and cheese" was so much worse in books than in show. blood made helaena choose her favourite children that she wanted to save or he will rape her 5 year old daughter. she begged them to kill her instead but they denied. she choose maelor, maybe because jaehaerys was heir , and the boys were awake all the time and watched everything. then blood whispered in maelor's ear "your mama wants you dead and killed other one. the boy probably remembers that his mother chose him to die and Helaena could not look in her child's ever again
The people calling this “red wedding-like” WILL change their mind later. I know exactly which scene will be that deceiving but people and spoilers don’t mix.
