As a Russian citizen I would wellcome those people comming. I have a lot of expat friends, mostly English-speakers. They're great people. And I'm glad they made it their home here. But still, as @Wild-Siberia mentioned in the previous video, there must be some sort of filter. And I'm not even speaking of people who come to a new place expecting to impose their ways or simply use their temporary status. That's a whole different story, which may also be relevant. But here, I'm trying to say that knowledge of the culture and the history should precede comming to the country, otherwise it might be an unpleasant surprise to find out that Russians are actually a bit different from what you thought, your everyday life here may also differ from what you saw in a youtube video. Some basic knowledge of the law and administration system will save a whole lot of trouble. And also, the language will still be needed: even if you don't have to pass the exam, you will definitely need it in your day-to-day life. Anyways, this country has always been wellcomming to peoplpe from all over the globe. And they have contributed a lot to its development. This has been one of the strong points of this country for many centuries. So, if you're thinking of comming to Russia, you're welcome here. But my advice would be: give it a thorow thought, learn about the people, the culture, the history, the language. Come and see first, and then make a well-prepared step instead of a leap of faith. Especially, if you think of bringing the whole family.

You know that English is divided into levels from A1 (beginner) to C2 (advanced) - if the necessary knowledge of Russian is at the level of B1 (intermediate), it is completely achievable for 3 years of living in Russia

You could have made this move without the decree, but still have to pass the language and history test within 3 years of your temporary residence permit. Those like me that are over 65 (or under 18) do not have to take the tests. This decree makes thigs easier.
The truth is that the vast majority of us (in the UK and Ireland) are traditionally minded people. We may not necessarily be the most religious people but we understand the importance of family and having a government we can really trust. I am encouraging my son to look into this as he loves all things Russian - as do I. I appreciate the generous offer made by Russia to the lost sheep of the West.

Now there are quite a few Americans duped by the whole Christian Family Values line that Putin is using but it is never going to translate beyond that into votes or lots of Americans moving to Russia. I have been thinking about this for a long time. I am 62 but I have a young family, a son aged 24, a son aged 16 and a daughter aged 9 and I worry about their future. I have also been studying President Putin and I have come to admire him greatly, he is a real leader and an exceptional man! The other thing that I have been struck by is the Russian people and the beauty of Russia! It's a difficult thing to do and would require extraordinary planning. Selling the house, organising the removal of our belongings and possibly buying a house in Russia, a huge undertaking but maybe worth it! Can I learn Russian in 3 years at age 62? I am not sure! I have no idea what the standard is to pass this test etc. It's almost too good to be true in a world of lies!

I'm British and have been in Moscow for 20 years. Just an example, yesterday I took my family for a walk in the famous ВДНХ. Loads of people visiting all the different pavilions, cafes full to the brim, paid 3000 for us to pop into the aquarium, which rivals the one in Dubai mall, passed an open air concert... no homeless around, not one drunk, no litter, everyone having a good time despite the war. And the night before all that, the drone attack mentioned in the news happened over my head because I live in Chekhov with the explosion of one being shot down shattering some of my windows. As an American convert to Russian Orthodoxy, I’ve grown to see my homeland become so morally corrupt I feel like a stranger in a strange land. Throw on top of that language barrier, technology issues, transferring money issues, there’s always some obstacle to overcome. Like Dan has said, living in Russia is “life on expert” mode. Don’t come if you expect everything to be smooth sailing. It’s a great country with a lot of opportunity, great people, beautiful women, but it’s not for the weak or faint of heart.
Hi! I just went through the process of getting a citizenship in Russia, from the USA. Criminal check goes through FBI, not the State you live in. First you get fingerprints done, it goes automatically to FBI - you ask for it!! then, in a few days ( it was 1 day in my case) it is ready Then you print from the site of FBI the report, and send it for an apostile it takes max 3 weeks, but I called and they had it done quicker, just because your time is limited. I had it done myself - does not cost that much. If you ask some agency- they would not speed it up, but charge a lot. You have to do it close ro your departure, as it is valid only for 3 months

In IT, almost everyone speaks English, learn a little everyday, spoken language in order to communicate with people around you outside of work. A lot of IT people are needed now. They pay well there and there is a place for career growth.

As a Russian citizen I would wellcome those people comming. I have a lot of expat friends, mostly English-speakers. They're great people. And I'm glad they made it their home here. But still, as @Wild-Siberia mentioned in the previous video, there must be some sort of filter. And I'm not even speaking of people who come to a new place expecting to impose their ways or simply use their temporary status. That's a whole different story, which may also be relevant. But here, I'm trying to say that knowledge of the culture and the history should precede comming to the country, otherwise it might be an unpleasant surprise to find out that Russians are actually a bit different from what you thought, your everyday life here may also differ from what you saw in a youtube video. Some basic knowledge of the law and administration system will save a whole lot of trouble. And also, the language will still be needed: even if you don't have to pass the exam, you will definitely need it in your day-to-day life.
Anyways, this country has always been wellcomming to peoplpe from all over the globe. And they have contributed a lot to its development. This has been one of the strong points of this country for many centuries. So, if you're thinking of comming to Russia, you're welcome here. But my advice would be: give it a thorow thought, learn about the people, the culture, the history, the language. Come and see first, and then make a well-prepared step instead of a leap of faith. Especially, if you think of bringing the whole family.

You know that English is divided into levels from A1 (beginner) to C2 (advanced) - if the necessary knowledge of Russian is at the level of B1 (intermediate), it is completely achievable for 3 years of living in Russia

You could have made this move without the decree, but still have to pass the language and history test within 3 years of your temporary residence permit. Those like me that are over 65 (or under 18) do not have to take the tests. This decree makes thigs easier.

The truth is that the vast majority of us (in the UK and Ireland) are traditionally minded people. We may not necessarily be the most religious people but we understand the importance of family and having a government we can really trust. But at the time it was unheard of. I knew it was possible , but then when Putin made these provisions , that’s when I said this was answered prayer. Meaning when I talk to GOD , I’ll ask things and ask for answers to many things. This being one of them , so for me it was like I said answered prayer. What people don’t realize is Putin is about the most western friendly one in Russian government. Although that has just been shoved in his face with what we did in Ukraine , but as long as he is in power , Russia is more like the kind of place ya wanna live , or at least I do. I have been thinking about this for a long time. I am 62 but I have a young family, a son aged 24, a son aged 16 and a daughter aged 9 and I worry about their future. I have also been studying President Putin and I have come to admire him greatly, he is a real leader and an exceptional man! The other thing that I have been struck by is the Russian people and the beauty of Russia! It's a difficult thing to do and would require extraordinary planning. Selling the house, organising the removal of our belongings and possibly buying a house in Russia, a huge undertaking but maybe worth it! Can I learn Russian in 3 years at age 62? I am not sure! I have no idea what the standard is to pass this test etc. It's almost too good to be true in a world of lies!

I'm British and have been in Moscow for 20 years. Just an example, yesterday I took my family for a walk in the famous ВДНХ. Loads of people visiting all the different pavilions, cafes full to the brim, paid 3000 for us to pop into the aquarium, which rivals the one in Dubai mall, passed an open air concert... no homeless around, not one drunk, no litter, everyone having a good time despite the war. And the night before all that, the drone attack mentioned in the news happened over my head because I live in Chekhov with the explosion of one being shot down shattering some of my windows. Still we know Russia will be victorious.

Many Americans like myself are completely disgusted by our nations leaders. They have destroyed this once great country. Many like me would love to move to Russia, but because of family commitments and children, the move would just not be feasible. I just pray Pres Putin and leaders properly manage this and that it used to strengthen Russia not weaken or damage it.

As an American convert to Russian Orthodoxy, I’ve grown to see my homeland become so morally corrupt I feel like a stranger in a strange land. I know I’d be willing to move if checking it out went well but it would be a tough sell to the rest of my family. I don’t think my wife would ever want to go.

I feel Russia is like a Noah's Ark and wish so much for my family to leave all this overt wickedness in the US but my husband would never go for it so I feel trapped in a sense. Throw on top of that language barrier, technology issues, transferring money issues, there’s always some obstacle to overcome. Like Dan has said, living in Russia is “life on expert” mode. Hi! I just went through the process of getting a citizenship in Russia, from the USA. Criminal check goes through FBI, not the State you live in. First you get fingerprints done, it goes automatically to FBI - you ask for it!! then, in a few days ( it was 1 day in my case) it is ready Then you print from the site of FBI the report, and send it for an apostile it takes max 3 weeks, but I called and they had it done quicker, just because your time is limited. I had it done myself - does not cost that much. If you ask some agency- they would not speed it up, but charge a lot. You have to do it close ro your departure, as it is valid only for 3 months

I wouldn't mind taking up on Putin's offer. It's just that I don't speak Russian at all. It will take time to learn to speak Russian at a professional level and become productive. I work as an IT Project Manager. This could be a very smart move of Putin to attract many educated and skilled people.
In IT, almost everyone speaks English, learn a little everyday, spoken language in order to communicate with people around you outside of work. A lot of IT people are needed now. They pay well there and there is a place for career growth.

Так что тебе язык понадобится только для того, чтобы купить кофе по дороге на работу. И то, в любых магазинах, транспорте можно вполне объясняться жестами, тебя легко поймут. Да и мы в плане общения с иностранцами очень дружелюбные и с интересом и радостью поможем иностранцу.
