Great video! I met Tommy Holmes the day Pete Rose tied his hot streak at Shea Stadium. He was in the stands and we just ran into him. Great guy although I am a fan of the “soft grip.”

I had never heard of Bob Elliot and looked up his stats and see he had a really good career. Warren Spahn looks so young and see he was 26. Being a Cards fan i most liked seeing Billy Southworth who has the highest winning percentage of all Cards mangers. This era of the Braves was known for Spahn and Sain and pray for rain. Great find on TH-cam.

And Cleveland spoiled what would have been the only all Boston World Series by beating the Red Sox in a one game playoff for the American League pennant.

For the time, a production like this was expensive - color/slo-mo etc.
They seem responsive to their customers, the 'wet paint' incident of opening day was just the year prior to '47.
The only years they drew over 1 million in Boston were 1947-1949. With all that the 'Three Little Steamshovels'
did for the team and ballpark it's no wonder that with attendance cratering after '49 they looked elsewhere.
Harry Jenkins must have been dissapointed when he saw this - out of focus. Ironic that the farm team
listing in the upper left is Milwaukee...
@ 14:00 the visiting teams' third baseman's glove in foul ground in foreground.
Rare glimpse of the inside of the arched entry below club offices. Surprised that the streetcar station inside the
ballpark wasn't mentioned - it would be at right edge of crowd clips starting @ 15:05.
Amazing how much better the uniforms looked then than the current ones.
Notice how Sain and Spahn both end their windups 'square' to the plate, in balance - unlike most pitchers now.
Braves Bob Elliot wasn't the only performer with that name in Boston then. Bob E. of 'Bob & Ray' radio fame had
just started his career at WHDH in '46.
