When I was a little kid learning to love baseball, I'd heard about Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and listening to Dizzy Dean say Satchell's the greatest pitcher he'd ever saw
It would have ❤ for satchal paige pitch against jimmy foxx,& lou gehrig& mel oott& bill dickey& stan musial&bill dickey& mockey cochrane& charlie gehringer etc etc , satchel paige had illegal pitches too like balk pitches:, glover cleveland alexander was a legendary pitcher from that era too
Satchel Page was an incredible hero. He accomplished so much and I heard stories about him from my Cherokee grandfather. We Cherokees rooted for those of other minorities. He was certainly a MAN that I admired from boyhood on. Great dovumentary, thank you very much for uploading this wonderful piece about a legend.👍🪶🪶🤙
I remember when i was 18 sitting in my fathers car in 1965 Satch pitched 3 inn against the Boston Red Sox he was 59 i was rooting like a madman. Only Carl YASTREMSKI GOT A hit off him .
greatest running gag was how old was Satchel really was. he was great a pure honest person who wanted to change the world the same as Jackie Robinson touching his plaque and name just gave me chills knowing how great he was his wit was great made so great for the game
Everyone should see Bingo Long and His Traveling All Stars...it's loosely based on Satchel and Josh Gibson (best baseball film ever imo) and other real players. Billy Dee Williams narrating this vid is no coincidence.
he also got to play with Josh Gibson which is awesome too also got chills touching josh's plaque and name made tear up because I know how bad he wanted to follow Sach to MLB
Josh gibson was a drinker too jackie robinson was young baseball player hittetthey should had an all star games negro league all star again major league baseball all star like a series
Shame on me and shame on the baseball oligarchy. I had no idea about Paige's time with St. Louis and (AAA) Miami. Im a 40 year baseball fan and its not even reported that he pitched in 1949 for Cleveland.
I was in India in a lower middle class home 10 years ago. Guess what, they didn't know what their birthday either. Birthdays can be a cultural thing. Moreover, many births were at home and not in a hospital. If you don't think poor whites didn't experience some of the same issues, you are missing part of history.

Ok no c@@Loydstardeli2017😮kg😊I 😮😮😅
My Dad told me about Satchel Paige when I was 6 years old. He was a huge fan of the man, as well as the pitcher.
I learned about him when I was like 8 back in the early 1970s. Mythical hero.

Thanks for sharing, and glad you enjoyed the film!
When I was about 14, 1970? I bought his book"Maybe I'll pitch forever" . Fun read.
Wetp in fact. He did pitch in forever in his time one of a kind😅😅😅😅
Satchel Paige was an American original. Amazing!
Much love and much respect for a man with a gift. a talent and dignity to show the world ❤😊
Not only his "stuff" out on the mound but his durability over so many years and so many games with that kind of stuff is amazing.
That's why I wear his Monarch's jersey... Thanks for the documentary. 🦾⚾️
I got his tee shirt:)
Thank you for these wonderful bios. Clarity..no music and very engaging
So great to be able to see him on video...
What a man. 😊
Awesome doc! Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Greetings: God Blessed Satchel Paige, and Satchel blessed baseball. Peace
Amen to that!
Satchel is a great figure in American history. Nothing like him.

Satchel Paige and his barnstorming team was the original “And 1” streetball tour.
greatest running gag was how old was Satchel really was. he was great a pure honest person who wanted to change the world the same as Jackie Robinson touching his plaque and name just gave me chills knowing how great he was his wit was great made so great for the game
Great tenacity!

My father 'Dave Pope " was w/the Cleveland Indians in 1954 as they won 110 games.
He was one of the best
My father actually pitched against Paige in an exhibition game. My father lost 3-2. :(
" Satchel Paige could pitch a porkchop past a wolf"...Movie quote. Forget which Movie though.
@39:30 listen to Tommy LaSorda now he knows baseball, arguably the greatest coach of his era

@13:00 Babe Ruth knocked a dinger off Paige, wow.
Babe Ruth had a stick
When asked about JIm Katt's career Satchel said Jim only pitched 6 month years.

Born July 7th 1906
well nothing to do with Satchel, but what is that red antenna thing in the background of the one dudes interview pieces?? lol
Did they ever get close to his age ?
My grandmother owned a house next door to S.P.
Near where they are building a museum?
Joe Biden hit 3 homeruns off of Satchel in the same game. As if that wasn't enough Biden went back to the cotton field and worked a 16 hour day.
Take the nonsense somewhere else..
LOL
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha .Your a Clown . Mate
Who he went in the field whit your moma😅😅😅😅😅😅
😂😂😂😂😂
@13:40 roughly $4,000.00 today. $12,000.00 weekend.

Blacks could have kept up of their age. Is that too much to ask? Why does everything have to be antiwhite...who invented baseball?
Because of the still racist bullshit that never ends
Always use Satches Quote DONT LOOK BACK SOMEONE MAY BE GAINING ON YOU .
Can't stand the truth about racist society well to bad
@@Mr.Holter Explain how
Huh??
Wrong, anyone with experience can pitch when their old, their just prejudice of old people
