    Slum Village is a Detroit group which has gone through various line ups, the original members were J Dilla, Baatin and T3

    I know a lot of people are mentioning this I a great summer day album. But I feel like this is actually a night driving album in the summer. Just smooth slow driving and having this on blast. Great review as always Prof.

    I loved your point about the timing of the release, I hate when a perfect summer album drops in like august

    Very good point on gmos! I haven't listened to this album, but I wanted to say that last week I bought 'Hot Buttered Soul', that you suggested to your auditors in an other video some months ago. It's soo great.. so thanks for that!

    I feel like you must talk about the legend Dom Kennedy and how that influences Larry June's sound and flow. You should listen to and do a video on Slum Village Fan-Tas-Tic, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2.

    Love this album. Recommended it to a friend, and he liked it, too. Al is one of the best producers out there and this project really was a Great Escape.
    I want to hear what Prof. thinks of the new Madlib, Muggs, Meyhem album Champagne for Breakfast. I haven't seen too many people talk about it, but it is on my AOTY shortlist.

    I believe the reason for vagueness of things that happen in the street is bc rappers often snitch on themselves with the illegal activities they boast about. Larry seems to be smarter than that while also providing clear imagery

    least favorite parts of this video are when you mention not knowing who Slum Village is and also when you give credit to white guys for being the primary supporters of underground hip-hop. other than that this was another awesome review!

    On the brief gmo comment you made, I totally understand why you'd have that notion, but I'd reccomend looking up someone like vandana shiva and her views on the negative aspects of gmos, and how it has really harmed her community and many farmers + leads into more general issues of globalisation etc

    • @traplover6357
      @traplover6357 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's more of a critique of capitalism (big corp like Monsantos patenting seeds for example then suing farmers that happen to get them in their farm out of their control) than the technology of GMOs.

    Larry June is definitely not for me. Him being from Cali may be the reason cuz when East Coast rappers are smooth, there's an X factor to them that I stick around with.
    Def prefer Roc Marci x Alc album over this Larry June x Alc project as an example.

    • @SSX1799
      @SSX1799 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I feel that. He’s good but he definitely stays in that lazy river wheelhouse. It’s nice but I wish he shifted gears here and there. Curren$y on his latest project with Alc is a good example. Even though he’s laid back he still unleashes tight flows and wordplay laden bars at the drop of a hat, on songs like No Yeast, the Tonight Show, and Half-Moon mornings.
      I feel like Larry June can develop that bag but he just has to make that choice or have that conversation where someone challenges him. But there are a lot of great rappers in that east coast lane so Larry’s is less saturated so he seems to be sticking to his guns and doubling down.
