My favorite is TR4, I love the interconnected levels and the story was the best out of the PS1 titles (in my opinion) i loved the 1-3 remasters and I can’t wait for 4-6!
Same, the first trilogy was a fun way to replay them, but this next trilogy I’m getting to experience them for the first time ever so I’m pretty excited for it haha
I am hoping that in the 4-5-6 Remaster they add a GALLERY which allows you to not only see your screenshots from the game but also your stats, secrets and % progression. (In the 1-2-3 RemasterYou get stats at the end of every level you beat but you can't see your stats ever again sadly, and you don't know the % of completion you have of the game... ) And since i play on Switch, i also want to see IN GAME achievements... it's so sad that Steam players had achievements and Switch users did not!
The fact that you can actually get lost playing the classic TR games is something that is missing from modern gaming. After finishing the remasters i played Marvel's Spider Man and was so bored by how much the game is holding your hand carrying you through what felt like an interactive movie. Classic Tomb Raider offers true exploration and challenge.
I do not agree with your title 'cause everyone should play these games (????) In any case xDD good video, I enjoyed hearing you talk about the games I love so much.
Imo they do not make games like this anymore. The challange was part of what made these games. You actually felt like you accomplished something, as opposed to the hand holding movies that games are these days. I am so excited for 4-6 remastered. While i enjoy all of them, especially 1 and 3, 4 had everything and is my absolute favorite videogame of all time and i cannot wait for it to come out. Og Lara and games are the only way for me.
Step left. Step right. Step left. Step back. Step forward. Turn around three times. Do a backwards flip with a twist. If you know what this is, you'll most likely enjoy playing this remastered trilogy and enjoy getting to play the Gold expansions that were never brought to the Playstation, though PC controls are markedly more clunky than the PSX controller. If you don't know what this is, you're just going to call the game "old" and not enjoy it, so you're better off checking out Tomb Raider Anniversary if you want to take an easier dip into the original TR games.
Great retrospective!! I'm always sad to see how many people don't enjoy TR2, but I totally understand the frustrating enemies and Rig section. Hope you had a great time playing through all of them in general though. Looking forward to 4-6 Remastered so so soon! Don't let the over-sensitivity towards the video title in the comments take away from your video essay- I'm sure people who have yet to play this will appreciate your thoughts and review. Not everyone can play a game the moment it releases... I JUST finished the entire Remastered collection recently and been playing slowly but surely since the release. Cheers!
Glad you liked it! It seems like many people don't agree or being too defensive when it comes to old TR titles. I gotta be objective against these games (and I always try to be, maybe more than necessary) so that people who don't know about TR would also understand what to expect.
@ I think you were fair! My experience playing them for the first time was like yours. I replayed all three 4 times because I liked discovering trophies and secrets. + modern controls made them replay-able. Did play tank for my first play throughs however. Just to get into the spirit of it.
Nice review, I've been playing these since the beginning, i feel the same way TR1 was always my favourite but TR3 is very very close, probably the better all around game but it's the isolation feeling the first game had which was perfect. TR2 seems to be the most popular universally & i do love parts of it but there's parts i hate, all the human enemies ruin the immersion, the Rig & Maria Doria levels are a drag for 6 levels that really should have been 3. TR2 has iconic levels but it feels more like a James bond espionage film.
Tomb Raider 1-3 is actually a more babied down version of the originals their is A LOT of things they added like brand new moves not accessible in the OG’s, changing how wide the box is for Lara picking up items, etc. it’s not a bad thing but these aren’t the original extremely challenging games these once were It was good they did this too because modern gamers instead of just taking like 15 mins to learn how she moves in the tutorial home they just try to start the story right away 🤦🏼♀️
TR 1 is goated for me. 2 and 3 not so much, they’re ok but no where near as good as the first one. 3 is probably my least favourite because of how confusing it is to know where to go Having said that I still spent a solid 200 hours playing the remasters when they came out
Its pronounced "Si-on" in British English. Lara Croft is British and Tomb Raider is a British franchise so pronouncing "Si-on" for Scion is technically correct.
@@joefrost1988 So am I. In all fairness I've heard both pronunciations of the word. I've always said "Si-on" much like how we saw "Si-Fe" for Scythe so who honestly knows at this point.
At least try to understand why I do this video, instead of coming here to make a meaningless comment. I literally talk about the upcoming remaster. Not only that, by understanding your ‘comment’ I have to/must make videos about the recent games, and quickly prepare them since you know, obviously waiting for my content. What a remarkably hollow comment from every perspective that I try to understand your viewpoint. Have a great day.
You literally implied as if 'you'd been waiting till my video.' Some people lose their interest or want to give a chance to Tomb Raider with 4-6, that's how I also try to help those with a retrospective twist to the video. Maybe I would have picked 'I've Played Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, And You Should Too!' but that's for another time, though, I've used this title tempate for Blood Omen, and no one had these kind of issues with that.
Unlike some games, Tomb Raider is one of those games that really says "I'm old" after years. At least the first era. If you don't think you must play it with nostalgic feelings, you shouldn't play it. The mechanics and game content are really old.
@TvRF20 Isn't that why in 2013 we moved into the new era with ''new Lara Croft?'' For me, the remaster/remake of old games is Tomb Raider in 2013.. And this new remasters of old games are really hard to play and never attractive for me.
Which Tomb Raider title is your favorite?
Of course the angel of darkness.Nothing better has been done.:))))
TR2. I've finished it over 50 times!
My favorite is TR4, I love the interconnected levels and the story was the best out of the PS1 titles (in my opinion) i loved the 1-3 remasters and I can’t wait for 4-6!
Although I love all of the original games I think my favorite is still the first.
TR1 TR2 and CHRONICLES for sure!
"so you don't have to"
Everybody should play TR 1-3
got me in with the title too 😭 but stayed for the video and fun retrospective!!
Played this solid for 2 months when it came out last February was so much fun and can't wait for the 4 - 6 remasters! 😊

TR3 T-Rex is too underrated: Vision based on movement, actually follows and sniffs flares, and gets attacked by raptors.

Video games in general really should just include an option to hold your hand or not give you any hand holding whatsoever depending on your play style
I've always loved Tomb Raider, I watched it with great pleasure.

How would you prefer I name this video then?
"I've Played Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, And You Should Too!" how's this?

TR1 is the true and only great TR game. The rest were nostalgia, especially III.

It does, but more like suggested by the levels and things in them. It doesn't have any new voice lines or cutscenes/FMV or anything.
