Im so glad the internet gave us CityPop. Literally been years now and i still love to listen to the same tracks over and over again. Without the internet, theyed have stayed in japan and been forgotten by the rest of the world.
Agreed. I have often asked myself, How did I not know who Miki Matsubara was in 1981 living in Florida. It is just incredible what an incredibly gifted talent she was.
The sad part is she did have a impact on the world through anime and I hope there is a afterlife so if there is a good place I can tell her the pepole she's touched with her songs after her life
its even more sad and devastating when you find out she started to throw away her musical piece collection and her favourite music notes apparently she trashed it and threw them away out of her spite of not spending more time with her family and the poeple she once loved so dearly taking it all for granted for her career, also depression from the constant reminder of her prioritizing her career instead of spending more time with family and soon she despised her love of music and her voice. Thinking her career was pointless and her music reached no one. Wherever you are Miki, you've impacted me, and you reached *me.* Thank you, rest well.
It's painful to think she thought her love of music and her career was a mistake near the end of her life all because of cancer, genuinely heartbreaking
I hope Miki was able to find peace in heaven. Even though she will never know how much she has contributed to the music industry in Japan, and how many people she has helped with her work, she will still remain a bright ray in the hearts of her devoted listeners. We must not forget the masterpiece that she has repeatedly created with her own hands and voice. We have to remember what REAL MUSIC is. Fate played a cruel joke on Miki, taking her life, but what fate could not take away was a piece of Miki herself, her music. No matter who you ask, "the voice of a musician that you will never forget," everyone will answer "Stay with me." And this is an unconditional victory. 💔 Miki would be happy..

Why are you pushing your religion on a people who do not believe in God and hope they are in Heaven. They don't believe in your god and want nothing to do with your religion. I don't see your way of thinking. When you die do you want Muslims to send you to Jahannam? I assume not because you want nothing to do with their religion. @@G4-sj1re

Everyone talks about anime (I don’t really watch) but no one talks about music!! Listen to this song very often and hope she knew the impact it would have later on just on someone like me to learn the language l!!
This is the most depressing song I’ve ever heard. And also Miki Matsubara’s regrets of being a singer and wanting to spend more time with her family makes it even more sad because she knew it would disappoint her fans. Fly high Miki 1959-2004❤️🕊️
This song always felt profoundly sad to me, even with the upbeat music. It felt like when you’re devastated, experiencing something absolutely soul crushing and you’re desperate. But due to life/circumstances you have to smile through the pain and tears, even though you’re dying inside. Ugh ❤️
Was able to buy an autographed first print vinyl of her first album which includes this song, as well as get in contact with her old boyfriend. She was super sweet and kind.
She sounds timeless, you'll easily identify a song from the 70's but Miki made it sound like it is from today.
Truly special🥲🥲🥲
right , i wouldn’t have that this song was from the 70’s. i assumed it was the early 2010’s at least
That’s bc a lot of songs today use music samples from 70’s music. Hardly any music today is “original”.
That’s because lots of music now apes soul, funk, and other retro styles
interesting, to me it definitely sounds like a dance ballad from '70s-early '80s.

No amount of Fan appreciation can fulfill time wasted and away from the people who truly make you happy 😢
20 years after she died and its still a legendary song.
The sad part is she did have a impact on the world through anime and I hope there is a afterlife so if there is a good place I can tell her the pepole she's touched with her songs after her life
Which Anime though ??

She wanted us to forget and yet it remains one of the best songs we've ever heard😢
She helped me be a better singer. I'll never forget her.
If only she could see how widely spread this song is today. I hear this song so much online. RIP miki.
Her voice was beautiful. Rest in paradise.
She gave me a great impact, it’s the same reason as hers
This song is pure bliss. Thank you
That hurt right in the feels
I wish she knew how beautiful this song is......n how happy it makes me feel
"She wanted people to forget her music"
But.... I don't want to forget...
its even more sad and devastating when you find out she started to throw away her musical piece collection and her favourite music notes apparently she trashed it and threw them away out of her spite of not spending more time with her family and the poeple she once loved so dearly taking it all for granted for her career, also depression from the constant reminder of her prioritizing her career instead of spending more time with family and soon she despised her love of music and her voice.
What is wrong with you? I guess you know nothing about the world huh. Japanese people don't believe in God or heaven. They're either Shinto or Buddhist. I swear people are so ignorant. Why are you trying to push your ideology onto a country that doesn't want anything to do with it?
what did she do for God that she is in heaven? We do not know. So you can't just say she is in heaven but you can hope she is in heaven
@@G4-sj1re

Ado whipping this out from nowhere at her concert was amazing
Just found this song a few weeks ago and at the age of 30 has been a cornerstone on convincing me to get back into school to learn Japanese! Everyone talks about anime (I don’t really watch) but no one talks about music!! Listen to this song very often and hope she knew the impact it would have later on just on someone like me to learn the language l!!
アニメにも良い曲はたくさんありますよ(*´ω`*)
"...And I wonder, what it feels, to find your dreams come true..."
Listening to this song gives me chills-😖
This is the most depressing song I’ve ever heard. And also Miki Matsubara’s regrets of being a singer and wanting to spend more time with her family makes it even more sad because she knew it would disappoint her fans.
Fly high Miki 1959-2004❤️🕊️
I love this song but every time I hear her story it just makes this song hit even harder and gets me in my feelings
She had no idea.
This song has been played, used for so many things throughout the years and it’s still booming like an eternal flame.
She is so beautiful.
So sad :( Absolute legend
She was a generation ahead of us. I love her style of music and can’t find ANYONE who can replicate it in the US.
She was so beautiful
This song is so soothing,it gives me this late 90's vintage anime nostalgic feeling😢
She was my lady, but her tragedy is shared within me too. She will be sorely missed.
