Very very contagious happiness - and I´m happy to fall prey to whatever they´ve got! Makes we remember that there are things in social closeness that are tremendously healthy! Thanks for these blessings!
My wife and I were there at this show. So much fun, this terrific recording doesn't even do them justice. If you like this go to Celtic Colours! We could go only for a long weekend but was one the best trips we had ever taken.
I agree …. We were there too and did this during a three month RV trip from Michigan. This was the most fun we had as old farts on a very long trip. My roots are Scottish and I was on trip to find my line of Campbell’s straight from Scotland before French and Indian War. They were shipwrecked in Pictou and we found it. My GG grandfather played the fiddle and my mom and I remembered some of the songs they did here. I have all COIG’s music. PURE FUN.
What this band has accomplished in a few short years is mind boggling. If you ever have the chance to see them live, do it. Their shows are packed with energy from start to finish. Glad I got to see this live. I have presented Coig in Maine and beyond for several years now and they are my clients all time favorites..
Saw them (well, Chrissy Crowley, Rachel Davis, Jason Roach and Collin Grant) 6 years ago, and I loved it. I hope I'll see Còig at Festival Interceltique de Lorient some day :)
Wow, great display of the music and the atmosphere and joy that makes us happy, this is how folkmusic should be played, so many times we miss that atmospheric magical stomp, when people made folkmusic long ago they counted on the stomp from themself but also from people who danced to the music, and on that swinging vibrating woodfloor atleast the folkmusic here in Sweden where they used to dance in the barns, it's not nostalgia but the sound and how it feels in the body through the floor is really something special, and it's many times lost in the translation when the music moves into the modern world, but for me it's an essential part of the music itself, maybe not so easy to recreate in our modern building but it should not be totally impossible either or somehow maybe use drums and bas maybe to fill that hole from what can be missed without that stomp.
WOW... Fantastic! Saw them live last night at the Shalin Lui Performance Center in Rockport, MA. What a perfect backdrop with the ocean behind them playing incredible music. An evening to remember for a long time. They are very talented musicians and wonderful people! Music rocks!!
thank you, thank you for spreading such joy and talent, now 2020, December, middle of terrible lockdown/virus riddled town in South America, I take solace with music precious gifts like this one. Bless you, and a bonus for me is to know this group is from my beloved Canada, my adopted country I hope to go back if Providence allows my elderly body to survive the current challenge.
Ditto to what Eswar said. I smile every time I listen and my foot taps uncontrollably every time. My wife downstairs yells, Stop that thumping up there. Please come to the Chicago area someday. You guys are awesome.
7 thumbs down?? I Don't have to understand everything… :-) One thing is clear tho: this is a jewel! An endless source of positive energy! End of story! Deffo one of my faves!
Awesome and amazing..full of verve. Can't keep my feet down..just didn't get the chance to attend the festival while in NS in 2014. But played fiddle in cape Breton during a visit to Margree valley.i am hopeful of attending Celtic colours soon. It's my dream.
If you ever plan on attending and need some helpful advice please don't hesitate to drop a line to tickets@celtic-colours.com or call us 888-355-7744. We'd love to see you join us someday!
Had hoped to see Coig playing in Belper, Derbyshire, just down the road from us, two months ago but the gig sold out too quickly! Hardly surprising, they're a fantastic band. Now using this track as part of my daily lockdown exercise regime, with a mix of dad dancing, Riverdance, Cajun and some sequence steps I picked up during a year's lessons. I have to pace myself, go off too fast and I run out of steam before the six minutes are up
and they're touring Belgium this feb 2019 oh yeaaahhh ! - 400km from home, but I got my ticket already ! by the way any medical treatment available for the 7 thumbs down?
When Celtic Music(and for the uninitiated, that's pronounced "Keltic", unlike the Boston Celtics [pronounced Selticks] Basketball team ) is played flawlessly like THIS, there's absolutely NOTHING LIKE IT!!! These people are nothing short of AMAZING!!!!!
Well done indeed Bravo!! Question feel the ladies...how much money did the raise for the annual Terry Fox Run? Still working the cramp outta me legs & only halfway through sure!!
Jag tänker på Nathalie mc master och Sharon shannon, The Chieftains, Planxty. Och mitt i allt Nova Scotia duck toller retriever som har ett fantastiskt driv i bakbenen
I love how with most of these awesome Cape Breton bands the musicians are always refined and stylish except for the pianists (and sometimes guitarists) which always look like the should be in a hardcore metal band haha
Can you blame them? The Cape Breton piano style is absolutely crazy and the guitar style is fire as well. It's also funny to see Dave MacIsaac's transformation for example when it comes to his looks, he started off looking refined and stylish and over time his looks became more and more crazy as he aged and it totally fits him!
en låt: long before your time, där jag blir så rörd att tårarna rinner ner för kinderna. Om jag skulle ha köpt hund när jag var yngre och vetat om det jag vet idag så skulle det ha blivit en Toller. Kilfenora ceili band förstås
This is awesome so driving, brilliant, the biggest laugh I’m surrounded by these so called trad bands,,, and the sad part is,,,, they actually believe they sound like this,,,, oh they can dream on I suppose,,,, but this is how it’s done 😂😂👏👏👏👏👏👏
you rarely see british or american musicians looking happy when they play. after brexit we're even more miserable. i'd lie an irish passport for my grandchildren but no ancestors.
I'm happy when musicians are happy when they are playing.
me too..... the happy energi its effect to me.... thank you
I get that. I makes it waaaay easier to get into the spirit of the music that way for me.
Very very contagious happiness - and I´m happy to fall prey to whatever they´ve got! Makes we remember that there are things in social closeness that are tremendously healthy! Thanks for these blessings!
Chrissy Crowley and Rachel Davis are amazing fiddlers and wonderful young ladies! Their sheer joy in their craft is infectious!
One of the most fun, uplifting, toe tapping 6 minutes of my life!
Yep,i grabbed my jawharp playing along with them..
Yeeeeehaaa😂

I love folk music! Doesn't matter which region of the world, I love 'em all. How could you not want to dance listening to this?
Fantastic! Big Cheers from Donegal!
This is phenomenal.
Jordan Gaudet isn't it just. Mind blowing. They are having the utmost craic performing as well.
Can’t stop listening and dancing. Hoping to learn a couple of these tunes!
Powerfully presented by clearly talented musicians, really enjoying their own outstanding rendition.👏
What a gem! Incredible performance, great sound, great camera work. Feeling very down until I came across this. Totally uplifting.

It's why we listen music
Great pair fiddle players I play and love the fiddle but these girls are put of this world as are the four in the hroup
Amazing ! Does Anyone know the names of the tunes ?
Fantastic music ... but Còig? I only count four of them. 😉
The story is that they used to be five but one left and they didn't want to change their name
Ohh myy give us a step by.
lord dyin jeyzus you!
Anyone know the name of tunes in this set?
Ach chan eil ach ceithir dhiubh ann ???
Sea, níl ach ceathrar duine ann!
In Gàidhlig Còig means 5. Why are there only 4 members?
Có aig tha fios??
The cameraman is the 5th.
Ok man
They used to be five. One fiddle player left.... not sure why but he clearly isn’t missed.
Me and my sister go on board titanic 2 in 3 ciass

What is the name of the tune ?
Is that Cynthia MacCleod on fiddle?
Còig features Rachel Davis and Chrissy Crowley on fiddle
Also realized I spelled her name wrong it is Cynthia MacLeod :)
the t in that Celtic Colors logo thing be looking like a て
also don't yell at me for spelling it "wrong" cuz I'm American lol
Give me this music above any, makes me proud to be Irish listening to it.
This is pure irish to the bone.. Luv it🍀❤️
It's Canadian Scottish, from Cape Breton
Why are they called "còig"? It means "five" in Scottish Gaelic but they are only 4 :-)
The started off as a band of five but pretty early on one of them left but they didn't want to change their name
