As someone who suffers from heel lift, Asics have some of the best heel lockdowns. Their combination of deep heel pockets and collar padding really helps to keep the heel in place without tieing the laces so tight to cut off circulation.
Dude your the only person I've seen doing a shoe review that gets to the meat, and as someone already said your not acting like a means of advertising the shoe, your here saying this is what I put the shoe through and what it can handle not how great it looks with awesome studio lighting. One other video I watched before this the guy is like this is a easy day only shoe it's not the same as the 3 with picking up the pace, then your on here like on yeah i'm doing sub 5min/mile at the end of a workout in it without an issue. Total opposites of opinions. What I do like is you prove the shoe can do it, and that's what I'm concerned with, we already know it can do 8,9,10 minute mile pace but what about faster paces for workouts, and your the only guy showing it.

They did something similar between the Nimbus 24 and 25 that they did between the Novablast 2 & 3. Now they have the Nimbus 26 and Novablast 4, basically just continuations of the previous iteration.
They are hard to compare! The super comps are plated with super foam, novablast are just a trainer. So less bounce, and slower. More soft cushion feel I would say (though I've only run in the super comp version 1)
@@mottesen_runswhat shoe do you recommend that has spring but can be comfortable on long runs? I had the new balance 1080 v12s but they got worn out and don’t have any spring anymore.
I prefer the heel counter more on the LE vs the normal Novablast 3 so it's nice to see them adopt the LE version of the heel for version 4 (at least it appears to be more like the LE)
Yeah, but really, dude weights like 120 lbs, what possible "problem" he can have? Young and light, he can run barefoot as good.. ;) Great shoes.. Thanks.
A shoe that I think you should try is the invincible run 3. The foam is really nice and squishy and is great for recovery runs. I just put my first 100 miles on them and they have great durability. Right now is a great time to get them because they are 97 instead of 180. 🏃♂️
I have back problems and always tired feet, so I ussually only go walking not running. The novablast 4 made me go run again and it works great ! I love them! They are amazing! I really recommend you go try them on!
Fantastic review, probably best scoring system I've seen on the reviews. I'm looking at this and the Saucony Triumph for my long runs. Thoughts on that? keep it up!
I recently bought both, but had to return the Triumph 21s as they were too tight in the toebox, though they work for many people. Novablasts (and Superblasts) are very comfortable.
I just switched from Triumphs to Novablast 4 and while not a huge difference, the Novablast are more comfortable. I am hoping that the Novablasts will last longer than the Triumphs which only last 400 miles on both pairs I owned.
New to the world of running shoe geekery and about to make my first proper purchase. Thanks for a transparent and candid review that really dives into the use cases and pros and cons. I’m running about 35-40km per week, 70% on treadmill due to polluted city. Torn between these, Metaspeeds, NBlast, or the Adidas Boston 12s.
To be completely honest, all these shoes in this 110/150 price range (the daily trainer shoe) are just personal preference. They are all great shoes in their own right so maybe try some different ones because most have a 30day period if you want to return them and see how they fit your feet

is this an all around shoes? like walking, run, going to grocery (I just want to buy 1 pair of shoes that I can wear all the time and will not hurt my fragile feet)
Hey, I recently switched from the Nike Invincible Run 2 to the Asics Novablast 4, and I've been experiencing pain on the outside of my feet. Is this normal, or should I give the shoes some time to break in? Thank you for your advice.
I haven’t heard of this specifically with this shoe. But if you only run in one shoe typically and then switch to a new one, foot pain is common. It’s best to be rotating a few pairs of different shoes if you can.
I heard the upper does not have good breathability and could get hot during summer? What are your thoughts on this as I'm looking for a new daily trainer this summer.
Appreciate the review. I just picked up a pair of these to hopefully take me through most of my final month of training and my first full marathon on May 26. Just curious if you think these shoes will do the trick for someone who is really new to running and looking to A) successfully finish a marathon, and B) target a sub-4 time. My half PR is about a 1:46, which I did in a Hoka Mach 5. I'm not sure if the Novablast 4 is faster, slower, or at all similar to the Mach 5. Would appreciate any thoughts about whether the Novablast 4 can be my shoe for the last bit of training and the race itself. I've never had more than one pair of running shoes at a time. Thanks!
I didn’t notice a weight difference. They felt the same to me. A quick look up said that the NB3 is 8.9 oz, and the NB4 is 9.0 oz. So it is ever so slightly heavier
Excellent review Michael! I am a beginner and have started to run. My use case is running around once or twice a week around 3-5 miles. Which shoe will be good for this, around $100-150 Currently on Peg40, and they feel just like a normal shoe, and would like to upgrade!
I'd say the Pegasus is one of the most neutral / boring shoe - nothing wrong with it, but nothing exciting about it. My recommendation is probably one of the Novablasts. It's been my favorite daily trainer. It is nice and soft for slow paces, but versatile enough to pick it up a bit.
I have not tried the trail version. But, from the looks of it, it absolutely should improve traction and durability. I'm pretty sure it's the same shoe with more outsole material
@@mottesen_runs it is hard to find reviews about the trial and lite version. They are very hyped shoes, I thought it would be easier to find about their variations. 😅
I tried my cousin's Peg 39s a few days ago. They honestly feel like 40 dollar shoes from decathlon. Not bad, but nothing special especially for the price they are selling them.
Thank you for your review. I bought the Novablast 2 after reading online recommendations - what a terrible shoe, which I dropped from my lineup after about 100km. Felt like I was running on oversized marshmellows, with stability issues and generally all round cumbersome. I paid £140 for the Novablast 2 and was extremely dissappointed, so much so I won't consider wasting my money on Asics again. Are you able to comment if the Novablast 4 addressed these issues in anyway?
Haha that’s hard to answer cause the Novablast 2 is a great shoe IMO. One of my all time favorites - had 5 pair that all got over 500 miles. Our opinions of a good shoe differ dramatically I guess. What I can say is that the Novablast 4 is less soft and more stable than the 2s.
The NB2 is bouncier than both the 3 and 4. But I might give the 4 an edge on the 3s, with the 4s also being a hair heavier. But It's hard to notice much of a difference honestly
Depends on the weight of the runner + foot size + biomechanics i guess. I have the Novablast 4 as my first shoe with that much foam and stuff and it is feels extremely soft to me, beeing 90kg (but also with muscles) at 1,80m at EU 45,5 feet. Any softer would be pudding - why would I then need shoes anyway?
Not sure this review applies for slower runners...your easy pace is 8 minutes? Thats mine and others 5k pace hahaha the firmness of the midsole might not be comfortable at those 1030min paces 😮

I'm on my 5th pair of novablast 3s, they're my favorite shoe ever. I now feel confident for when I will eventually have to buy the 4
I think you will like the 4 because its small upgrades from the 3 but they are noticeable.
NB4 seems noticeably firmer then the 3 to me. I really enjoyed the 3 as well.
How does compare with the Cumulus?

Endorphin Speed 2 are made for faster runs. They are very unstable at low speeds. The cushioning is also focused on energy return, not comfort.
They did something similar between the Nimbus 24 and 25 that they did between the Novablast 2 & 3. Now they have the Nimbus 26 and Novablast 4, basically just continuations of the previous iteration.
