I think it's about time you picked some classic vehicle building challenges from the dawn of time and did those again. Random part selections, long vehicles, weird trailers, log throwers, tree baseball, explosive obstacle courses.... Spleef and sumo with custom vehicles....cardboard demolition derby!
For a handicap, you could give kAN 8 shots instead of 4. That should leave enough time to turn and get a proper direction read in both left/right and forwards/backwards directions. Or have his verbal hints start at 7 minutes and everyone else's at 10 minutes...
Thanks for playing my map! (sorry my yt name doesn't match my steam name) That was a pleasant surprise. The sign is pronounced "Boh-dee" and its a real ghost town 🤣. Also my dumb brain didn't even think about how you could use explosives to get into the lower layers of the map 🤦, I really didn't think anyone would try it. (they were meant as set pieces since mines use explosives) That said, the spot Kosmo blew up does open, its just a lot smaller 😅.
it seems to me like the audio in scrap mechanic has physics, which is why the glass border causes it to echo from every direction it also means if you're in an enclosed room with an open door to the west, and a sound happens to the north, the sound will still sound mostly west since it'll sound like it's coming from the opening
For what its worth, I love watching you play hide and seek. The jesting and banter is hilarious, the dynamic between you three (and moonbo) is so entertaining. Also I'm working on my third map xD (did the sky islands one last with no switch spots). for this map I may have some switch spots, I'll try to have less annoying caves, and try to make the map a bit less parkour heavy. So keep an eye out for Beluga Island/Forsaken Island sometime next month or soonish ;)

If you're finding audio hints so hard why not play it like Guess Who? To make it more fair you could make it so seekers can only ask from a predetermined list. If you did those every two minutes, you'd only need 10 questions for 20 minutes of hiding.
I do wish you guys would record 3 perspectives for each person so that if any camera angle is poor you could change to a new perspective or just break up the video a bit yk, I get that’d be much more footage to edit through but if you guys are recording on like Thursday or Friday, you could probably still manage with other content.
Great video ! Your skill REALLY improved ! So I got an idea : We love watching each of you LOOKING for spot, so, maybe now make a challenge to found ALL hiding spot the quickest ? like adding master switch to each spot, the fastest win !
Speaking of finding someone else. Would be hilarious if it was possible for you to start the challenge and have an additional guest join while the hider had his HUD off, so that he would be completely thrown off when he either realizes it's three hints going off or if he just finds someone he totally didn't expect.
I think when you give your hints, no matter whether there's glass or not around the map, you should say, "This is me" before your shots. That way the seeker knows who's who.
From what I understand, a game is supposed to slightly distort sounds coming from behind, in order to mimic the distortion that naturally comes from the shape of our ears. If the sound engine isn't doing that, then sounds in front and behind would end up sounding the same.
About hearing shots, I think if you create a constant source of a noise in a map and run around the map listening to how it sounds from different parts of map, and then move that source to other spots and repeat - it can be a good training.
Should build a map with hiding spots that all have tubes coming off them so the spuds impact is somewhere else, test if the sound comes from the gun or the spud impact

Handicap idea. each person shoots a number of spuds based on how many hide and seeks they have won. By the way, I enjoy watching these regardless of if you win or not. Next time you should just pick a map with a lot of detail and then just go explore, don't even try to find them, just look around at all the cool things.
Have you ever noticed the Doppler effect in SM....? if you move towards the source of the sound it pitches up, away, down.... Although I don't know if it works well with the short spud bursts.... It does work very well with a squeaking totenbot...
Lol. A few videos ago, Kosmo got all defensive about his three shot hints and tried to make out like he didn't know five shots was standard, and he'd start doing standard five shots. As if you and Scrap haven't been doing five shots the entiiiiiiire time. And now he's back to three shots. I think you guys should only do three shots when he's seeking. (And to be clear, I enjoy watching you all in these Multiplayer Monday videos, even if I think someone's being sneaky and knows it. Your bantering is familiar and enjoyable in quite hard times.)
A spawner for workshop creations would be nice for making culling and loading into other areas of maps or for a boss fight one could spawn a wall of glass to act like a down time, forcefield to delay attacking bosses before rest of connections are ready ect
something you could try is tuning your audio using fxsound software its free i had to use it for my senhieser pc37x because the audio was super quiet but then i started tuning it and it sounds more crisp and still keeps the boom for things like dubstep as well as increases directional audio if you want 1 tip for tuning is less is more only change settings little at a time and the presets are also a good place to start and mess around with i hope this helps someone sorry for my wall of text i was never good at writing edit: it should work with recording setups since it redirects output to specific devices instead of just changing the original audio so the video can have original audio and your headphones and have the EQ audio
I doubt scrap mechanic has a correct implementation of directional audio at all considering they dont even know how to implement multiplayer movement corectly. it probably just lowers the volume when you arent looking in the right direction rather than adjusting the channels correctly
I don't know if kAN is just playing a par or not, but if you're actually being seious then it sucks that you aren't having fun with Hide and Seek anymore. I genuinely love his videos and one of the reasons I watched most of the Railroads Online videos is because of his genuine love and excitement or trains. I know we're not gonna get that for every video type, but still sucks to think he genuinely may not behaving any fun.
Kan have you thought about or tried to close your eyes before asking for spud gun shots that way you can pin point one of the spud gun shots and I don't know if it'll work or not but at least it's worth a try
The reason why Kan is so bad at Hide and Seek is because his movements are so spastic. Kan, move your line of sight gradually. Look along walls, objects etc. slowly and in one motion. PLEASE
I mean, if you want an honest opinion, you end up getting fixated on a single thing like a building or an area and how to get into it that you end up burning a lot of time on it. You just got to learn when to cut your loses, when to take note of an area for future investigation, and when to just move on because you're probably wasting time. Like Occam's razor is never a tool you employ. You dig far too deep and you're banking on that 1 time you do dig deep that you'll be a genius. Flip that script and go simple to detailed in your search. I'm not saying that'll fix your bad streak in hide 'n seek, but you may find better success with the crop dusting with dumb upgraded to orbital precision strike investigating for a round or two.
Get some Beyerdynamics headphones. I don't think it is the glass because I'm always able to tell the direction while watching the video from the audio on my headphones.

You can't fake any method for front and back with stereo, just vaguely left, or right, or somewhere between. 7.1 means 7 actual speakers and 1 subwoofer. You get an actual sense of angle. I remember the joy after setting up my speakers of being able to tell EXACTLY where shots were coming from. I don't really play FPS anymore sadly. I have Scrap Mechanic, and am willing to test this on kAN's directionality map. Off topic, but has anyone noticed that surround speakers are rare these days? It's all those dumb looking speaker bars now.

Even just on youtube you can hear a difference when a map has glass or not, definitely an echo.
You can always go into sound settings and switch audio enhancements to headphone virtualization or even enable spatial sound for virtual surround.
Lower your voice, how else is Kan gonna surprise them with his newfound prowess and give his viewers a tasty title about outwitting the boys

I used one of the outhouses there, because we were told to park near the entrance and didn't know there was a modern bathroom at the parking lot
