Going to apologize now for all the uhs. Work put me on overnights and this is my switch day... I've been up for about 26 hours so my brain isn't processing correctly. I shortly after finished editing and went to sleep. By the time this posts I'll be in bed.

C4s are my favorite generation but the 84 is by far the least desirable year of the C4! What this thing probably made 150hp!!

@@C4VETTELT1 As the owner of a 1984 C4, you're completely correct, it's easily the least desirable year, and least powerful by far. 1985 had huge improvements

275 at the wheels? That is amazing!! What did you do to make that kind of power? Wow!!

It should be 375 but not bad. Heads, cam, exhaust. Stock rotating assembly. Obviously supporting mods to the induction system.

Hey man, I just bought a 1984 corvette, I just want to know what it takes to tune the engine.

    • @ratherbeboating10
      @ratherbeboating10  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Xfire performance (the old DCS guy) sells the converted EBL ecms that are plug and play and tunable. It's not cheap though and depending how much you love the car you could probably go to a stand alone setup like a microsquirt, haltech, or Sniper and be ahead of the game. If you're just doing mild stuff you can actually trick the stock calibration on the stock ecm just by messing with hard parts and have it run fairly well though. Really depends what you want to do. Could also LS swap and be done lol.

That's pretty good for crossfire injection.
Can I i pick your brain about the ebl flash? Mine was just delivered on Sunday. I didn't do much research before ordering it. I just found out how to load bins into Tuner Pro.
What size injectors are you running? What is your fuel pressure? I've used holley sniper and hptuners but I haven't tuned on this yet. I'm using it on my mild 92 c1500. I just got it so it's mostly stock. I generally tell guys to ditch tbi as soon as they can because they can't support power. I've been burned by a custom mail order chip guy in the past. The truck puked black smoke and didn't make shit for power. It was a vortec headed 93 k2500.
Which wideband controller are you using? When I cam mine, I'd like to have the wideband already set up. Thanks for any info you can provide.
Anyway, I saw your intake port work. Well done. Can't wait to see the finished product.

I am running 80 lb/hr injectors on a VRFPR 16ish base, 24 wide open on pressure. There are calibrations for a 94-95 L05 in the software that should ballpark a stock setup.
The wideband is a zeitronix ZT-2 if I recall. Dynamic EFI also sells one that is optimized for the software as well.
      Any other questions?

@@ratherbeboating10 I got an 18psi fuel pressure regulator spring. With my stock 61lb injectors that should support about 271hp. I'm planning to use the stock heads for now, but put a baby cam in her.
I blew up my torque converter about a month ago. I installed an electric fan, headers, and 3" to 4" single exhaust. I'm running 1⅝ headers y'd to a 24" long 3"id glasspack and a 4"id x 31" long glasspack as mufflers. 4" tailpipe in the stock location. The tone is tame, but deep. I'll leave the loud exhaust for my supercharged truck that can back it up. And it gets decently loud at wot.
I plan to put a baby roller cam in it. I've actually got a comp xfi252hr lying around. It's a 202/212@.050" .550"/.546" lift cam. I'd have to run 1.4 rockers to run my stock heads. I think I'll pick up an xtreme energy 252 hr cam. It has a more modest lift but similar duration. It's 200/206@.050 and .472"/.480" lift. I can run 1.5 roller rockers with it and be fine. I've got an Edelbrock tbi intake lying around so I'll slap it on while I'm swapping the cam. That should wake up the truck a little. Hopefully this engine management system will help me get there on the stock tbi fueling.
For my fuel system, I'm going to slap in a 255lph pump. I've got some 80lb big block injectors but I'm going to try to run the stock 61s @18psi for now. This truck is kind of a leftovers build. Lol. I just want a little more power than stock. Not necessarily a full build, but better than stock.
I've got a relay running my fan right now. How does the ecu trigger the relay to run the fan? I've got a 180⁰ thermostat in it right now. I wouldn't mind activating the fans at 185⁰ and shutting down at 180⁰. My other truck has dual electric fans. It's powered by holley sniper. I have one set to turn on at 174⁰ and the other at 175⁰. The second has never had to come on.
Anyway, thanks for the help. If I run I to any problems getting the motor going, I might be back.

@@EricErnst The ebl uses one of the pins on the harness on the fan. It may not be pinned on the stock wiring harness so you'd have to add it. But it is a ground trigger you'd run to a relay and just program your on and off settings as well as a minimum run time and speed disable.
It's a lite version of say HP tuners or the like. Once you start fiddling around with it, the terminology is all the same. It just does things weird because of the lesser resolution you have with an older baud ECM. My car drives as well as most after market management systems I've driven. A friend has a fi tech on his cobra and it I don't think it really does that much better of a job. Granted there is a 200hp and 150 cubic inch difference but still.

@@ratherbeboating10 I was playing around with some of the settings for the fan. It looks like some of them are already in. Like a fan disable at 42mph and the like. The sniper setup grounds a relay for fan control too. I'll find the pin. Thanks for your help.
The fitech systems are very basic. They use a 3x3 table for fuel. I've tried calling their customer service and they just gave me the runaround. I'm glad I went with sniper on my other truck. . Although I almost wish I'd gone with a super sniper. I'm out of injector with the standard unit. The terminator x max systems have transmission control for 4L60E and 4L80Es. It can integrate traction control and do everything from the same unit. That was not available when I bought mine so I had to go with an aftermarket tcu. I can program my trans with my phone now, so that's cool. I can keep my truck off the rev limiter at wot by either adjusting the shift rpms or the rev limiter.
I just put a 2000rpm stall in my 700r4. It takes a little getting used to. Stock in pickups is 1400rpms. Those L05s are low revving torque machines. I'm using the bin from a 90 c1500 L05 with a 700r4. Anyway, thanks again. I'll read up on everything and let you know if I have any more questions. You've been a good help already.

Have you changed your gear ratio. I read that 3.31's was a rare option you could order in the 80s and made quite the boost in acceleration and still manageable on the highway as far as RPM's.
3.73's 4.10's or higher are best for track/racing and not MPG friendly.
But I'll never forget the power I unleashed when put higher gears in my Mustang. Felt like 100 horsepower jump.💯🙌✌
