My telecaster has a kind of ebony board that's black and white. Its like a cookies and cream thing. Called pale moon ebony. There's a little 30 second video on my thing if you care. Its so rare and beautiful. From what I gather, one in every whole lot of trees is variegated like this, its not its own species.
I just purchased my first Black Ebony carving ,18.5 inches tall and 12 lbs. made from the center of the tree but it has a natural hole in the bottom as the tree had some defect in the center . Will this effect the value ? looks like a old carving not new.

I have Ebony pieces that are 60-70 years old, they were scraps thrown away at the Martin Guitar Co. They are jet black, and incredibly dense.
