I am from Jacksonville, FL and know them all....Dale Krantz-Rossington was asked by GARY ROSSINGTON (Who later became her husband) and Allen Collins to be in Rossington Collins Band. This woman, besides being sweet & an amazing Singer is NOT WHAT "wingnutt4200" said.....you need to KNOW a person before passing judgement on them...actually, we aren't supposed to pass judgment on anyone. Dale was ASKED to be in this band & she kicks ASS in the vocal dept. I actually HAD to sing, "Don't Misunderstand Me" at Judy Van Zant's wedding to Jack Gronin in late 1980's reception party. I sang "Don't Misunderstand Me" in front of ALL the famous people from my town, Jacksonville, FL.....and I KNOW I'm not as good a singer as Dale, but she complimented me with sincere kindness, so do NOT put her down or anyone else you don't know, whether they be famous or not!!!!!!! Suck on that info people!!
Anna-Marie, people like bat shit wingnut, are assholes. The world is full of them. Singing makes your heart happy, so ef em all I say!
The only thing I know is her music is tops, she rocks out. If some fool puts her down, they hate music. She still gets it done.
I'd give my left one to meet Dale as she blew me away from the first time I heard her in RCB. Major pipes! Would love to hear her sing gospel.
It wouldn't matter to me either way how she became or who asked. I just ordered the album along with about six other Lynyrd Skynyrd CDs and the movie Lynyrd Skynyrd. She's not only a good singer but she is one hell of a good-looking woman I mean absolutely beautiful the most mesmerizing eyes I have ever seen! She is top-notch in my books that is my judgment! and I'm trying to go down and see them in Tennessee I hope I can make it driving a truck is very hard but I may have to lay my keys down and drive down there! This is their last tour
I like her in the band I can remember them when they came out and I bought the album and loved it!

Dale has such a strong Rock n Roll voice. Unusual for a Lady! Very few can pull it off. She is one of the rare ones that can. Always loved The Rossington Collins Band!!! Definitely I look up to Dale. She's a Giant!!
she was the next step for Gary and Allen and i was blown away when i heard that first album. its too bad it didn't keep going.
I wouldn't mind seeing Dale front her OWN band & be the lead singer, cos she HAS IT.
Dale is the nicest lady I’ve had the privilege to speak to her and she’s so sweet
if you LISTEN to Dale, she sounds alot like Janice Joplin.....I got the chance to actually SEE them in San Diego a long time ago.....and Dale blew us all away......she gave it her all.....just the way Ronnie would have wanted it.....she's a hell raiser just the same as Ronnie.....She's a great singer....married to a great guitar player.....mr &mrs gary rossington!
Had they been able to carry on with that line up, they would've gone far.

One of the best sounds from the south, with real experiences and life stories. Lynyrd Skynyrd will live on forever.
This was a great band. Allen Collins was a fantastic explosive guitarist that played with more energy than anyone that i have ever seen play a guitar in my life. It's damn shame he had that car accident. He was well on his way to a big comeback. He got his second chance. It seems that that band was really cursed. Skynyrd that is and he would surely have been still there today if he hadn't wrecked that car. think about all of the hard ships that the band had. It was all smooth sailing until the rift between Ed King and Ronnie. From then on it was all down hill. Sad story really. I hope they all died with peace in their hearts. A few are still with us. They have a lucky star on them. Dale is a great vocalist.
I recently got to thinking about it and I don't believe after Ed left that he and Ronnie ever spoke to each other again, it was another sad part of the Skynyrd story.
I remember RCB came to Memphis. I got there early. I walked to the front door of the venue and it was open. Walked in and found my way to the main floor. Nobody said anything to me, I got to watch them rehearse for the show! It was awesome! My seat was on the balcony and I watched the concert

Gary and Dale recorded a really good album just a couple years ago. Her voice mellowed down some (she’s older now, of course).
What a GEM of a VIDEO. Glad I found this. I've been listening to the L.S.B for years and years. I still remember that terrible accident in 77. I just got in from the Philippines back to Japan during my time in the marine corps. Great Video THANK YOU.

I loved RCB. I loved Dale on vocals. She was such a great and powerful singer. I saw them live in San Francisco. What an emotional night. To see the band, most of Lynyrd Skynyrd playing together again was a dream come true. They're all gone now. Rip Gary, Allen, Billy, Leon, Steve, Cassie and Dean. 🙏😪

I always thought that Dale was the perfect replacement for Ronnie. I loved her raspy soulful voice.
I bought an RCB Tshirt at their concert ,wore it and washed it so many times you could read the newspaper through e.
We all got excited when we heard about The RCB. I live in Louisville Kentucky and we saw LS at least once a year or so. Dale was a welcome edition to the family. She is very strong on vocals and show skills 🎉
I loved Rossington Collins band. Two great albums. Dale is awesome.

I moved to Jacksonville in 76 from NC. I was 8 years old. Soon as I got there, I was in a park and a local girl around the same age taught me how to French kiss. I miss the 70's.

I remember hearing don’t misunderstand me! I loved Lynyrd Skynyrd but this was something new! It stood out on its own! It still had a bunch of Skynyrd boys so you knew it was gonna be a tight band! I liked it and still do!

Something happened between Allen and Gary.
Gary and Allen were druggie fuckup emotional wrecks, their both being in love with Dale and Dale picking Gary also hurt the band whether they admit it or not.
Allens wife died of a hemorage due to pregnancy complications. That lead Allen in a downward spiral who couldn't cope with the loss of his wife. Gary had to let him go since he wasn't meeting up with the band, or showed up too high on drugs to perform/practice. Allen had become heavy into drugs. To say: something happened between Allen and Gary is not the correct wording. Gary has always loved Allen like a brother who tried to do everything for Allen. The band had to go on without Allen, but then Lynyrd Skynyrd started back up with Jonnie Van Zant. The opening bad for them was still RCB and still is to this day with Dale the lead singer. Dale was and still is backup singer for Lynyrd Skynyrd.

@@kevenrowe2958 RCB was still performing ass the opening act after they went back to Lynryd Skynryd with Johnnie. Gary sometimes played both bands during a night. Dale is also (currently) a backup singer for Lynyrd Skynryd.
I'm pretty sure it was Gary. Sounded to me like Dale and Gary were in the same interview.

I can understand the comparison angle bc I find myself doing that exact thing with Johnny. It just ain't the same. The stage presence, the voice, nor the lyrics can ever compare to Ronnie. But I also do the same with the other members... just ain't the same. However, I'll follow them to my grave

According to the book "Remembering The Freebirds of Rock and Roll" Allen and Dale couldn't stand each other and Allen even refused to come back and do an encore with her at one gig.
what that a good book? There were a few written including one by drummer Artimus Pyle. I just came back from JAX after visiting Allen Collins former home! It was amazing. I am still haunted his presence. He was brilliant; a raw talent and my reason for learning guitar.

Yeah - Johnnie a little stiff sounding on most tunes - doesn't have that relaxed confidence feel like Ronnie - but who else could keep Skynyrd alive?

Good band, so sorry Allen had that crash. What a shame and so much lost talent. I was routing for him and he screwed up.

The band could have gone further if they had a decent manager. Larkin Collins was not up for the job.
They were fair at best…
Never liked back-up singers and thought them unnecessary and distracting, "doo-whopping" in the background with their limited talent.

Makes sense since its Ronnie's brother, who was a success before Skynyrd. Keep it in the family.

Frankly, I think it was a poor choice. I do not think anyone could fill RVZs shoes but at least they should have tried. Not only did they need a male vocalist but one with a style similar to Ronnie's.

That first RCB album is an absolute gem.
It was quite good. But remember, in those days, alot of people, and music biz execs did not take women in bands and the recording biZ seriously. Their loss.🌍🪲🫤
They're musicians. They wanted to continue in their specialized field of expertise. Any fan can tell you, they made the right choice. RCB rocked! Fortunately got to see them in concert, too. No Lynyrd Skynyrd Band for sure but they all held their own. Another awesome concert experience for the fans who love music! ❤️❤️
The album was very well received and the tour was awesome.
The best post crash band that could've been close to the original.
It did effect Gary and Allen's friendship. That's why they had seperate bands from 1982 on - the Allen Collins band never seemed to get off the ground. Of course they made up after Allen's accident. Their friendship was pretty deep so it was restored but not ever the same.
I heard they both had very strong feelings for Dale.
Note, my comment says "According to..." I'm quoting a book, not making a claim myself. I doubt Allen ever dated Dale as the first RCB concert tour in 1980 was interupted when Allen's wife died giving birth to their third child so he wasn't dating her at that time... at least not out in the open.

Heard on another youtube vid poor Allen had to preach during public appearances about not doing DUI as part of his sentencing. What genius talent writing guitar part for Freebird. RIP ❤

But been binging LS all month after hearing Freebird on radio after yrs of not. Rediscovered each orig member. Damm whst could've been had decisions by RVZ, Artemis not being late an hr & fuel wasted, . & pilot error overall bad mechanical condition of the old plane. God thry could've driven and listened to Cassie's fears

Saw them after they formed at the Paramount in Seattle. Spotlight on an empty mic during an instrument only Freebird. Not a dry eye in the house..............

Between '80-'83 there were Guild guitar & bass ads with Allen, Gary, Barry & Leon and another ad with just Allen sporting a beard and yet another out-there, angular guitar. I'm sure these ads can be found somewhere on the internet.
