‘Olive Green’ + ‘Dark Brown’ make a good colour combination for the ground. Also using Autumn coloured trees like ‘Flame Yellow’ really make the surroundings pop!
@@GoldfyreAnother great piece that would go really well, especially on Vampire Knights, would be the new sword element seen in a new Ninjago Dragon Rising set (71811)
The level of detail on this wall is outstanding, just the right amount without going overboard! If I had to make a suggestion, it would be to make the wall a bit taller. Looking forward to seeing this progress further!
I do think the greenery in front could use a little bit, Maybe some dark green 1x1's and/or a leaf her or there could bring some great contrast, similarly to how you did the tan/nougat in the back. Do agree on the olive green for the majority color though, that is an awesome choice.
Definitely make sure to contact Lego about what's missing, sending replacements will cost them and show them that they need to step it up on their QA The wall looks amazing btw, really love the inside
Thank you so much! And yeah, I'm currently writing down every discrepancy in the order and then am going to contact them. I've always had a good experience with their support so we'll see :)
@@Goldfyre yes! Get those missing pieces. Lego is not a cheap hobby, you paid for them and +40 pieces missing is simply not acceptable. Also, from my experience, the costumer service is really friendly and accommodating.
Those clip & bar parts are great for making awesome looking cobblestone pathways as well. Just have a 2x2 rounded plate and a 2x2 rounded plate together and stick on the bar and it makes a fun little build. I personally used it to remake my lion castle entrance
I know it maybe a little more time effort and money, but making your walls modular is a huge help in building and moving your moc. I haven’t regretted it
Looking great so far! I personally use Harry Potter wands as arrows, they are proportionally more accurate and they look better when a figure holds them!
Never thought someone would be able to get me to sit through a haul but that was thoroughly entertaining. Can’t wait to see how this castle turns out!!
Always contact Lego if your PaB order is wrong/missing something. It's literaly one minute and usually they just send you the missing pieces without asking questions. I've reported every second order I think for either something missing (a stupid quiver) or, more often, something damaged (scratched shield, sheep, etc). Always 0 discussion and on the next day I have a new order raised in my name. They also need this feedback to improve on QA. I once reported a not-working Duplo train straight out of the box and they've ordered me a new train and even ordered a courier for me to send them back the damaged train so that they can see what's wrong with it (it turned on but didn't drive).
I too goofed up in terms of minifig width once. It was when I tried building a vampire coffin... Minifigs can't quite get in because it's too narrow for their torsos due to the arms.
Something you could try to help with either future storage or transportability is making the castle into modular sections, either through pin or clip attachments on the sides. If you ever plan on showing it off at a convention, this would be an absolute Godsend to do. Besides that, I'd recommend downloading the Lion Knights Castle instructions and just looking at some of the techniques it pulls off for inspiration.
I'm super happy for you. I know this is going to turn out amazing!! Working on my own castle right now.. it's been done a little bit, but I really wanted to modify the three in one black falcons castle.. but I'm definitely going in on it..
Wow man! Did not disappoint. Super clean build❤ I started disigning mine not that long ago amd it completely got away from me in terms of size.. haha Can be hard to cram so much detail into a smaller moc. Love the episode looking forward to your next!
I am not kidding you I literally went to a lego store and got a bunch of bricks/plates for the beginnings of my black falcon castle from the pab wall :'D!! Also your building skills are amazing!
Honestly wathcing this makes me want to make something similar. I just ordered a bunch of black falcon minifig parts on PAB along with various armors. Maybe i need a castle to go along with it. Making it ina modular type style would be cool, so you would always be able to add more!
work a few olive green 1x1s or any other earthy coloured plates into the base of the wall to make it look a bit more weathered / mossy. just a tiny bit :D
I LOVE the design of these walls but because of the height, maybe this could be part of your outter walls and your inner walls to your "keep" or more important buildings could be taller. For example: Your markets, housing, and smiths could be enclosed with the outter (shorter) walls while the keep and barracks could be enclosed in the middle of all the markets, housing, etc with inner (taller) walls.
Looks awesome! I wish I had a pick a brick website avaiable here in Brazil. Can't wait to see your creation! Do you mind sharing how to build those angled walls? Looks fantastic!
I really want to do a windmill.. and I really wish we got another windmill set.. I kind of wanted to make a castle with a little bit of a windmill scene on the side
What I would say for a recommendation is that you should probably put a mounted ballista on a tall watchtower and have a gate house over the drawbridge. That way they can always be someone on guard
Love the upgrade, however you should make the wall s taller and that section of it at the middle a bit wider for the final castle . The 2 2x1 masonry bricks look weird hanging over the sides.
It's so funny man just last night i was considering widening each section by 2 studs. I'll have a whole sketched plan of the castle in the next video so that everyone can see where i'm trying to take the moc.
Yeah, I’ve accidentally double ordered parts because of that. Wish Olive Green came in more types of shapes. Would change out my dark green grass and hills.
Look awesome so far! I get that you say olive green looks more realistic, but its much harder to come by in quantity. I buy from bricklink not the online wall, so what's going around in current sets is mostly all that's available. So i use mostly plain green bricks for foliage. Unrealistic isn't so bad, since, it gives the fantast look. My theme is medieval/fantasy.
It definitely depends on your own personal taste, which of course is 100% subjective. I really love olive green but yeah it is a pain to come by second hand.
It's funny how Bricklink sellers handle counting the parts a lot better than Lego themselves. I've gotten blown away with how good some BL sellers are, yet my last pick a brick was also missing parts. I say dont be afraid to add some lighter tints! Appropriately placed lighter color bricks can really make dark colors pop more. You could use regular tan for hay or straw, for example. (Its also slightly more saturated than dark tan so it also pops in terms of color, not just light level). The opposite is also true. Dark green can be used for foliage accents and smaller detiails to compliment the olive green as it creates more contrast and depth. I would stick to olive as main ground cover color and add dark green in little bits here and there to indicate on shade, depth, perhaps moss or a wetter patch of ground. Reddish or dark brown can also be used for ground details, trees or twigs, etc.
When i make the opposite wall for the castle i am going to try and make it with olive green plates mixed in. That way i can compare them side by side :)
I actually made a list of all the parts i wanted and then went in on PAB and picked them out. It's a good idea to have an idea of the parts you want before you start adding them to your cart imo.
@@Goldfyre yes, but how do you know what to put on the list? Do you plan out the wall ahead of time on paper or in an app? Or do you just know the various pieces well enough and are able to keep the 3D Puzzle plans in your head?

A terrible feeling in moc building is when you start a new build and you place an order for parts and when the come you find out you don’t have enough
true!!
Maybe worse is that you forgot just one piece type that is critical, and you can't start for another week or two
@@DagmarDoesLegoand then by the time they come, you lose inspiration for that idea lol
