Onew is my ultimate K-Everything bias. From the moment I heard his voice, that was it for me. And then, getting to know Shinee and how amazing they all were, it was such a wonderful ride. I have been a Shawol for 11 years; I have cried with them and celebrated them, and they will always be my favorite group in the world. Most emotional moment: seeing the 5 of them live in Mexico. I flew from Costa Rica with my sister to see them perform and I cannot wait to do it again. I love watching you fall in love with them. They truly deserve to be called LEGENDS. Reexperiencing these moments brings back so many memories. Big hug!!

I saw Taemin in a “dating-like” variety/reality show and got curious about him then discovered the legend KPop group SHINee. That was in 2013 and never looked at any other group because they just can’t compare, not even close! I fell in love and still am today and until they retire maybe? Got my heart broken in 2017 and slowly healed through time. Now I’m totally fine because I can see how SHINee have also been healed. I went through a lot with them that’s why I can never unloved them. They are just very special to me. Hard to explain but I know you get it.

Three years ago my, then, 15 YO daughter got me into Kpop. First with BTS (and I also thought there was no one else but BTS), but then she introduced me to Taemin and......OH MY GOSH, he just blew me away with his creativity, charisma, intensity, and let's be honest, he's probably the most beautiful human on the planet (sorry, hubby, but I love you the most...hehehehe.) From Taemin, I discovered SHINee and that was the end of BTS for me. I've never looked back. Bias: Taemin Fav SHINee Song: That's EXTREMELY HARD! It used to be "You and I", but I think now it's "Area" and "Code". "Area" edges out "Code" though. Fav Solo: Taemin's "Eclipse" solo at his 2019 Arena Tour WOW Moment: SHINee's 2014 performance of "Evil" at their SWC III - Seoul concert (must be the SEOUL venue). All 5 dancing blindfolded and the dark, theatrical atmosphere and performance were just....WOW! Shocking Moments: Key's "Born to SHINe" performance; SHINee's "Your Name" performance; Taemin's "Slave" performance...he's so naughty. It's all Key's fault. Most Emotional: SHINee's MV for "Our Page". What I love most about SHINee: Their true, very visible brotherhood and love for each other, as well as their very demonstrable love for their fans. They are GENUINE. They are open with us and not afraid to approach us. I also love the respect that SHAWOLs have for SHINee and other fandoms. You don't get the negativity that many fandoms seem to thrive on. SHAWOLs are so respectful and well mannered that SHINee members have no trouble walking right up to them after shows like MCountdown or Inkagayo to talk with them or give them their winning bouquets (as Taemin does), to the dismay of their bodyguards. There is a heartfelt authenticity to SHINee and SHAWOLs that I haven't experienced with other fandoms.
Hello! Can't help but comment on this. What made me stay with shinee despite knowing other groups first is the brotherhood and their personalities. They're like your family, your comfort. Even if you have other friends that you go to for fun, you'll always go back home.

Once you become a Shawol, it's inevitable that you will eventually become at least a soft stan of all of SM's other groups, EXO, NCT, WayV, Red Velvet, Super Junior, Girls Generation, TVXQ, etc. because SHINee are connected to all of them. Whether it's through Taemin as a member of SuperM -- which is a group made up of members from EXO, NCT and WayV -- or if it's just getting to know SHINee on a personal level. You become fans of all the other groups because a lot of SHINee's best friends are from SM's other groups and you often see them doing things together, so once you get to know their friends you start to want to get to know their groups because EVERYTHING SM does is connected. For Example, Taemin's best friend is Kai from EXO and once you see them together you will want to get to know Kai, and in turn that will lead to getting to know EXO; Minho is best friends with Suho from EXO and Changmin from TVXQ among others; Key is friends with Taeyeon from Girls Generation, BoA and all the members of Red Velvet, etc. Welcome to the SM rabbit hole -- once you are in there is no way out. ;p

Thank you for finding Shinee and spreading the love! Lately, some younger kpop fans like to disrespect them because I honestly think they need them out of the way for their favorites to climb. But Shinee are icons for a reason. Even other entertainment companies love them (YG’s vocal coach, even Bang PD from Hybe) and 90% of the 3rd and 4th gen idols look up to them. Other groups are amazing too, but Shinee deserve all the respect and acclaim.

Bias - Minho because he got me into SHINee. I watched Minho in a variety show and loved him & followed into SHINee. Minho is underrated. He's voice is so soothing, he's low notes are 😍 the way he moves while dancing & obviously the visuals are great. Wow moment - Sherlock (Clue+Note) & Excuse me miss from SWIV concert just made me go wowww. Best thing about SHINee- All 5 of them are vocals,dancers,visuals. They are all really good at everything.

i thank your friend for introducing a legendary group. key has been my bias from the start but i am telling you that i am always bias wrecked by one of the members everytime. so picking a bias on shinee is quite difficult. also my fave solo work would have to be press your number though she is comes close. also prepare yourself physically, mentally, emotionally if you are going to watch key's born to shine. it is not for the faint of heart. also good choice for going to nct next. the getting to know you stage takes time but they are following the footsteps of their senior shinee.

Got into SHINee just 2 months after their debut from a random youtube video. I have been a Shawol since then. My bias is Taemin and he always has been I never changed it! Iconic moments from me are all the concerts I have beem too. I saw SHINee 5 times in Korea and Japan and it has been crazy! And I'm so thankful! I cried every time hahahah

But It was not until 2017, when we lost Jonghyun and watching the other members struggles with what was lost and how they found resilience thru that devastating time was when I binged and dug deep into their music and Jonghyun's musical talent. I was truly blown away. You ask the defining moment I became a true Shawol, I watch SHINee's From Now On 2018 concert. It was heartbreaking❣ It was then I became a Shawol because sharing that experience with the remaining members and SHINee World change me 4ver. There is no other group I've seen with the love and brotherhood, and strength of these 5 members. I started with Kpop in spring 2019 like so many with BTS and Boy with Luv. I watched a few like "best kpop songs of the decade" videos and because they were among those songs i put Lucifer and Sherlock on my Kpop playlist because i liked them. But the journey actually really took off for me with Super M and Jopping because there i met my ULT bias Baekhyun and i got introduced to NCT. I knew Taemin was in Super M too and that he was a SHINee member but that was it. After Jopping i fully became an EXO-L and a multi, BTS actually got cast aside^^. I still like them but their music is, apart from most of their title tracks, just not for me because i dont like full on hiphop/rap music. And then DCM happened...... and i became a babywol. I am still binge watching a lot of SHINee content, there is just soooo much stuff on youtube from them! Bias: Onew/Jinki, i am a sucker for unique voices and he has such a rich voicetone and strong voice: i love him! And he is ridiculously sexy and handsome and his lips and thighs are EVERYTHING.... And dont get me started on his smile! He joined Baekhyun on my ULT bias status

Ive come to know about SHINee when I saw drip drop on mtv 5 years ago, TAEMIN dancing just drew me in and when I searched him up and saw he was in SHINee Jonghyun was the one who really brought me in because our personality were so alike. So thanks to Minho i got to know about the kpop legends.... that's SHINee💎 Through the years i have come to know of many awesome groups like Exo, seventeen, tvxq, BTOB, girls generation, f(x), nct......(i can still go on😁) but SHINee hits me different....they are my forever favourites.... My all time favourite SHINee stage performance is 'Excuse me miss', "stranger", "tell me what to do".....but to be honest.....SHINee is the legend of stage performances.....and you will know when watch and react to their many other songs and performances😊

Bias - forever Jonghyun Fav moment - too many, but I'll share two. Excuse Me Miss stage performance. Key sharing his idol journey, believing himself as a chicken trying to be a Swan and come to the realisation that it's ok to be a chicken. That brilliant 15mins was so profound. I got so inspired by him. I'm also an NCTzen. My only regret is having a bias in NCT. My bias always get the least lines or screen time in their MVs. My heart ache. That's the downside of stanning a 23 member group

I became shawol since I saw that cute Taemin in Replay MV, but switched to Jonghyun. I like Jonghyun being so talented since Hyeya, Juliette, and playful in Hello Baby during RDD era, that look got me. and then, here comes the moment that I finally fell for him. That year, when he was reported dating, he became so sad, every shawol knows he was faking the smile on Hello stage. 2010/11/07, there was a Fan Party in Taiwan, someone asked if anyone willing to support Jonghyun no matter what, she will made the banner for us. So on that FP, during Jonghyun's Solo stage, everyone in the hall held that banner said: Jonghyun ah, we will protect you! We don't know if he saw the banner when he was performing, cause he seemed too concentrated. So during the group interview after everyone's solo, Taiwan Shawol held up the banner again when it was Jonghyun's turn to speak. After that, we clearly see that we made it! We found our playful and smiling Bling Bling Jonghyun back!!!!! Jonghyun burst into tears on the last stage - Hello, that he couldn't ever sing anymore, so we sang it for him, and cried with him, that became the eternal moment for me. Therefore, my favorite song is View, because I like everything of it. It is definitely a mark for K-pop industry. favorite SOLO is quite hard to choose, cause all the member's style is different... But to be honest, after knowing them for more than 10 years, it's really hard to tell who is the bias. It feels like family! 🔹️ Favorite Solo: Jonghyun's White T-shirt. So bright and happy. And he looks gorgeous in pink hair. 🔹️ Wow Moment: Every moment in the concert! And in the programmes when Minho win another competition. Recently, Taemin's stage on MAMA 2020. 🔹️ Best Thing: We grew up toghether. SHINee came in to my life when I was only 14. To be honest, I don't listen to their old songs that much because I would easily drown in the emotions since their songs recall the memories of different periods. I am really proud of them.

Bias- jonghyun [ bling bling is jonghyun] favourite songs - all songs in 7 albums my journey of being a shawol [it's bit dramatic but yeah i just want to share it with you] it starts when i am 15 years that is 2018 december 1st i am already in to kdrama at that time so i started lisenting to kpop before shinee i listened to many group i was like okay good, okay nice and the time came SHINee 'ring ding dong' the song started in that mv jonghyun was like 'babby' and that it i am done i kept on rewatching that part like n number of time and that's it i became a shawol and i am in this wonderfull shinee world emotional moment- i dont know more about shinee when i started lisenting to them i was just a babywol at that that i am coming from school doing my homework and lisenting to their songs and its december 18, yeah its that day our jonghyun became a angle.That day i was watching jonghyun solo stuff and yeah..... i get to know about it that he became a angle i can't take that news and not belived that i started searching about him in internet that i still remember i not ate anything i can't sleep next day i came back from school and listened to his interviews, his blue night radio. So it is like physically impossible for me to pick a bias or a favorite song. Like, all of SHINee's songs are a strict no-skip list for me. I discovered Taemin first when he released Idea and Criminal last November, so I would say I have a longer "bond" with him out of all the members, but when asked to pick a favorite of the 5, I just can't. I love how different they all are from each other. And their solo work is all sooo good. There's an old clip from when the band visited a women's university and the host told one of the students to pick only 3 members to hug, and I just wouldn't be able to do that. I'd be like, "Uh, no, I don't like that rule. I'm hugging all of them. Not sorry."

Bias: Onew (ultimate) How I fell in love with SHINee? Through their Hello baby show. They are so funny and talented. SHINee is the first Kpop group I love, I love them all but there will always be a soft spot for Onew. I actually love to watch back their old shows and listen to old songs, it was very healing.
How I learned about SHINee: I got into SHINee while watching a kdrama Boys Over Flowers back in 2011 while finishing my graduate studies. How I fell in love with them: I fell in love when watching their live performances. I had watched their lives before their music videos. They could sing well from the start. Bias: My bias is and will always be Key. He has this charisma that you have not fully unlocked but will in time. Favorite solo: album Key - Face. Special song: I don't have a favorite song because they are all too good. A very special song for me though is Ayo. Whenever I went through something extremely hard it's my go to comfort song. Memorable moment: going to SHINee World V concert and seeing them perform live and hearing Key tell his story of how his stylist burned his Gucci outfit in English! I became a Shawol after I heard BTS’s MOTS 7. I had actually been lamenting that nobody made New Jack Swing music or hard hitting commercial R&B any more. So I heard that and loved it. Someone made a comment about “if you think it’s hard to learn BTS members, try being a fan of NCT.” So I saw Superhuman and fell for “red-haired man” (Yuta). Then I saw a video where NCT 127 watched Monster, then I had to check out EXO. Then I heard Mark, Taeyong, and Kai were in a group together. They were doing their favorite songs, and they talked about SHINee (I knew the name) and then they all imitated Taemin’s Famous video. So I watched that, and then it just spiraled from there.I’m happy to say that I was there for the NGDA 1&2 comeback.

Talking about my story SHINee has become my happiness. My ultra bias is key and other 4 are bais/es. I was late because I get to know them because of Jonghyun's incident. I regret it so much until one shawol (I don't know her) told me that I am not late for anything and welcomed me. And I am a fan of my own fandom shawols. Because they are amazing. SHINee and most 2nd gen groups are legends! Specially when talking about vocals and stage performances... Your friend is right! People are quick to forget how hard it was to get big before youtube, smartphones and vlives. In varieties they would put 2-3 groups to battle for camera time instead of each episode being for just one group and promo. The video quality... you were lucky to get 480p. If your group did not do variety... they simple did not exist for the korean gp. You guys should do a reaction about MMTG 2nd gen revival! Key is one of the MCs and there is a lot to unpack for new kpop fans.
first heard of shinee when they were big in the booming kpop scene in my country back in 2009, think amigo was my very first song. wasn't a fan of it at that time. then in 2010 my sister was obsessed with shinee and played lucifer/rdd on repeat and it got me annoyed because i wasn't a fan of those two tracks. eventually she made me watch hello baby in 360p and that was it. i fell head over heels in love, and a huge part of it was because of key. he was SUCH A CHARACTER and how he looked was very close to my ideal type back then. and now, almost 12 years on i'm still here at age 27 with them. literally grew up with my five shining boys and i know they will be here with me and in my heart for the rest of my life to come :)
Omg your friend is so funny! I'm like her too, when I love something I share it with everyone. I haven't been able to share my enthusiasm with some of my cousins that listen to kpop. Unfortunately some people just are biased towards their fav group only and don't want to support others. But i at least got my sister into it. Would love to see more videos with your friend! Their first song I heard was From now on (Thanks youtube :/) and while it was obviously sad - you can get a lot of context from just the performance - the moment he started singing I went "WOW WHAT THE FUCK!" out loud. And I had to know who this guy is. Turned out also Taemin, who I've heard a few days prior was in this group, hence the youtube suggestion. I clicked cause Key was super pretty in the thumbnail :D I ended up liking most of their songs. Jinki is one of my favorite singers, one of the people I can listen to forever, cause their voices sound very... idk.. I can't explain it. Peculiar? Unique? On top of that, he just seems like a very chill person and appreciates it. I love his Voice-only streams, his smile, and his small kind gestures. Bias: I CAN’T PICK uhh uhhh Jonghyun was my first bias then my bias wrecker became Onew THEN Onew became my bias and now Taemin, Key, Jonghyun, Minho are my bias wreckers in that respective order. Favourite Solo: Taemin’s Think of You It actually became my favourite song when it came out. It’s a soul song for me to kind of just be in my feelings and feel my emotions. On the sexy note it would be MOVE cause he is UNMATCHED. WOW moment: I CANT PICCKKKK JSSGDHDH Two things I can think about right now is the everybody Tokyo dome performance and jonghyun’s 19 second high note in stranger. Most memorable moment: hands down. MELON MUSIC AWARDS artist of the year awarding 😭 I cried SOOOOO MUCH. That shit was so emotional for all shawols and SHINee. We were a hot mess. Best thing about SHINee: they’re so full of character on stage. They’re not so serious, they’re clowns. I know every group is talented and very unique but their talent in my opinion is quite unmatchable. They can all sing, act, dance, and have multiple talents and interest. What I truest truest love about them is when I hear them harmonize together and sing in one voice. That to me is super special and they have never failed me musically. I genuinely love their music. Just a little note as to how great they are and you will never get sick of them. I’ve been a shawol for a good 11 years. SHINee has always been here for SHINee World and we have always been there for them through all their ups and downs.
I got into SHINee at the time when KPOP is starting to enter my country. The music charts at that time is full of kpop songs back then and I was instantly drawn to Ring Ding Dong. This is why rdd is close to my heart as it's my start of being a shawol
But I think only Taemin said that clearly to his fans not to cheat on him, the rest of the members are more mature so they never said anything. LOL, but I won’t cheat on SHINee coz they are my one and the only one for me.

Thanks Ade for not giving up on introducing SHINee to your friends!!!! I can see myself in you hyping up SHINee with other people (especially those who only know one kpop group btw).. flaunting them in my social media accts. I just feel it's sad if people don't know how great they are... SHINee deserves to be known. IMO they have set the standards and keep on setting it higher and higher, the idol of idols. The kind of experience we're having with SHINee, the amazement, the feelings... should be experienced by others too.
Back in 2010 when my friend showed me their RDD MV for the first time I was literally like "what the f is that?". And then few days later I found myself looking for this MV all over youtube because it was somwhere at the back of my head. And I found it. And I got stuck with them until today.

Bias: Lee Jinki (Onew), also my ultimate bias in the whole kpop industry, cuz let's be honest, everything about him is lovable🐰💜 I can write a whole book about why he is my bias, but to keep it short, I've been a Shawol for 12 years and Onew is one of the nicest, sweetest idols I know😍😍 Favourite Song: All time favourite is An Encore and Green Rain. Recent favourite is Body Rythm and Area Favourite Solo: Onew - Sign (that song is so cute!!!!!!!!!!!) WOW moment: Their blindfolded performance of Evil 😍🔥 They danced to it in blindfolds.... that itself is WOW!!! Best thing about SHINee: They are one of the most respected groups in K-pop yet they are all so down-to-earth. The 5 of them went through alot yet they are still going strong and are always there for each other💜💜💜💜💜 On a side note though, you should definitely check out NCT, Seventeen and Ateez. NCT and SVT are big groups but they have some dope songs and so does ATEEZ. You should check out some of the 2nd gen idols like 2PM and Highlight as well😊😊
Love this video! So fun to see another multi-stan haha. For getting into NCT, I might actually recommend using SuperM as a path since you have Taemin there and there's only 7 of them so it's not as overwhelming as the whole NCT universe all at once. It's a natural segue into NCT and even EXO if you're feeling up for it!
My shawol origin story actually began when a friend of mine sent me their debut album to listen to, she was absolutely obsessed with them, but at the time I was really into Big Bang so I didn't actually end up listening to that album until 2009. When ring ding dong dropped, I remembered that my friend really liked them and finally went and listened to the album. I was blown away. Needless to say, I haven't looked back since. My bias always flip flopped until Taemin's solo debut. His music style caters specifically to my tastes so, what can I say I'm a simple woman (That's not to say that the rest of the members won't wreck me on any given comeback). Favorite song? My favorite title tracks are a tie between View and Lucifer. View had incredible visuals, and the song is full of fun summer vibes and always makes me happy. Lucifer, honestly, was the first time I was wowed by choreo in kpop, and I have a soft spot for the styling in that era (Key's haircut? Iconic. Taemin with long hair and that red/black wardrobe? Devastating. And Jonghyun's long note haunted me in my dreams). As far as B-sides go, I can't pick just one so I'll just list my top 5: Alarm Clock, Rescue, Farewell My Love, Ayo, Obsession. Favorite solo would be Taemin's Already, it just steals my breath away every time I listen to it, and the fact that Jonghyun wrote it makes it that much more special to me. Wow Moment: Jonghyun's Y Si Fuera Ella performance was so raw and left a deep impression when I first saw it, and seeing them live in concert for SW5 really cemented them as my ult. Best Thing: SHINee can literally do anything and make it work. All of the members are so talented and incredible in their own right, and it's such a treat getting to see them together when they have comebacks. SHINee's one of the only groups I grew up with that are still together, so it feels like reuniting with old friends whenever they comeback. Since you're checking out NCT next, then it only makes sense to check out Exo afterwards since they're in the same company. They're a very close second to SHINee for me, and their discography is magical.
I'm in my mid 30's and what draws me towards them are the throwback feel good songs they do. No one in kpop can perform like they do, their vocals are ridiculous. They made a comeback in 2021 and still sounded great. RIP Jonghyun, forever 5.

I noticed your friend Ade said CL is a legend as well. She is legit for her too! She is one of the best rapper recognized by not only idols. She is the leader of 2NE1, one of the iconic 2nd gen girl group from YG (where Blackpink from). I found it actually kind of sad that some army or other 3rd, 4th gen kpop fans are not that interested in other groups work. I know our time is limited, love and interest, too. But back in the days, 2nd gen groups used to have a bunch of collaboration, switch stages, so 2nd gen fans have their ultimate biased group, but also familiar with other groups member and tracks. If you don't have a more open mind, you might miss lots of gems, and blind with the whole K-pop industry, I truly think this is where the fan war comes.
Oh Ade! Bless you. You really did a good job. And Yetti welcome to the dark hole of SHINee again. Isn’t it such a joy to be enjoying these amazing people? I was really late into SHINee also I’ve heard about them but I was so much a drama fan (still am) that I wasn’t into K Pop. I learned about SHINee in 2017 when the tragedy happened I didn’t understand why I felt so sad and crying for someone I didn’t know. That’s when I started to dig deep and learn more about the group and of course when you dig deep you fall into the hole but I must say it was a happy hole. So when SHINee was quiet for awhile I gradually learn a lot about them watched their videos, guestings, variety show and just fall in love. Then sometime 2018, TaeMin guested in Why Not the Dancer and I was introduced to this little boy called JiSung who dances well. He did his version of Move but honestly I said to myself, ‘you still need to eat more rice to be able to dance Move’ but he was so effing cute. So I find about NCT and saw their music video called Chewing Gum and said, ‘OMG they’re so young!’ They’re like my kids. The mother instinct in me got born hahahaha. I need to do tuition for these boys. Hahahaha. Then I learned about NCT127 too and found JungWoo who was so funny. At first, I wasn’t really into their songs cause SHINee sang differently but you just want to help NCT so you stream their songs. And finally because you play it on repeat you get to like the ‘noise’ that they bring. SM really knows how to conceptualize for their groups. I commend their A&R department for it. So now like Ade I have 23 people more to love. I have 23 sons, who are extremely talented, you know SM has the best vocals right? Hahahaha I am obviously biased. But they were really trained well. K’s are usually nasal when they sing because of their language but if you’re from SM they’ve been taught to lessen that. Not only are they talented in dancing cause they also have very good dancers but VISUALLY there is no visual hole in NCT. Absolutely none. There would always be biases but there isn’t much solo stanning because you get confuses who you like at one given time. You’re going to be multi biased with NCT, you’ll find yourself shifting from liking this boy to the next one. Even Shotaro and SungChan who just entered NCT last year got me shooked. Shotaro is an amazing dancer and a cute Japanese. SungChan is just so handsome (he is MC of Inkigayo every Sunday). Hahaha. To think they don’t even have permanent groups yet. You can probably start with NCT127 and watch their Hit the States videos, American 101, Brooklyn Boys and see if you like them. Did I just start asking you to watch variety before their MVs hahahaha. My favorite 127 songs are Highway to Heaven, Superhuman, Kick It, Touch, Punch. For Dream I love Boom which I used to watch alternately with Chewing Gum even the hoverboard version just to see how much they’ve grown and of course Hot Sauce. they’ve recently become double million sellers and the repackaged album hasn’t even come out yet. 127 is coming out with a song with Amoeba Project called Save and it seems like it’s going to be a bop. Everyday i played SHINee's song, i watch SHINee video, tell them about SHINee news and they just Meh, but day by day they used to like it, they start to put interest on SHINee and ask me more about SHINee. Without realizing they humming the SHINee's song and start ther life as a Shawol 😁 Its make me happy, finally we can share and discuss the same positiv tought than gossiping other people behind 😁. My bias is minho, it started when i liked him from a drama and boom after 2 months i became a shawol officially, and i don't lie about that but every moment with them is iconic to me, i always think that although i watched alot of groups i never find such a talented men with amazing personalities like them, i'm really lucky to have them in my life , and you're lucky to because you are a shawol now, hope you get into them more to know how amazing they are, it's more than you expect really 💓

I became a shawol when I was a baby myself back in 2009 😂 I first heard them through one of the main OSTs on Boys Over Flowers, but didn't get into them until around the Ring Ding Dong era after seeing them on Arirang TV at my grandma's house. They've all been my bias at one point but I have such a soft spot for the older ones, Onew and Jonghyun. I've seen them grow so much and it still boggles my mind that I've been their fan for 12 years??? I basically grew up with them. I love them as performers but what really made me fall for them was seeing them on variety shows, especially Hello Baby where they took care of a 4 year old named Yoogeun. Even now Yoogeun follows them on IG and calls them his SHINee dads. I get randomly nostalgic and emotional for a lot of their songs, but Jonghyun's "Before Our Spring" will always make me cry. I have the last lyric from that song tattooed on my shoulder. Your friend is so right, and I hope that more newer fans at least recognize credit where credit is due with SHINee, because most current groups, including BTS, have grown up with SHINee's music and have been influenced by them in some way.

As a new shawol it's important to know our other names too. We're not only called shawols but also lil freaks (given to us by key) and jjakoongs (given to us by taemin)! Also can't forget the time Onew called us babies and key called us his children 😂
I also get overwhelmed with the idea of getting deeper into more groups.. SHINee already following like 7 artists (groups + 5 solos) for a long time I check groups here and there but SHINee is still alone up there.. still untouched. But there are really tons good groups - NCT, EXO, SEVENTEEN, ASTRO.. and more randomly catch my attention.
My history with SHINee is very long because first last year I saw Hwarang and I loved the character of Minho, so I looked for the actor and there I saw that Minho was the actor and then I discovered that he was part of a group, then I thought I would like to try to listen to them, so I watch the video Countless and I thought they were great, but then I never saw them again. Then they realize Don't Call Me and I love it after that or before I don't remember they have this interview with IU, so since this interview I love them. They are so talented and cool.
Shinee is my ultimate group. PERIOD. Next, I have undying love for EXO, then NCT. I will forever be thankful for NCT because they pulled me through hard times with SHINee and EXO. And with so many members in NCT, unlimited combinations, and foreign members, they are pretty much enlistment-proof. And OMG, if you love these three groups, seeing them interact in SuperM is amazing! It's clearly SM family for me.

Onew is my ultimate K-Everything bias. From the moment I heard his voice, that was it for me. And then, getting to know Shinee and how amazing they all were, it was such a wonderful ride. I have been a Shawol for 11 years; I have cried with them and celebrated them, and they will always be my favorite group in the world. Most emotional moment: seeing the 5 of them live in Mexico. I flew from Costa Rica with my sister to see them perform and I cannot wait to do it again. I love watching you fall in love with them. They truly deserve to be called LEGENDS. Reexperiencing these moments brings back so many memories. Big hug!!

I saw Taemin in a “dating-like” variety/reality show and got curious about him then discovered the legend KPop group SHINee. That was in 2013 and never looked at any other group because they just can’t compare, not even close! I fell in love and still am today and until they retire maybe? Got my heart broken in 2017 and slowly healed through time. Now I’m totally fine because I can see how SHINee have also been healed. I went through a lot with them that’s why I can never unloved them. They are just very special to me. Hard to explain but I know you get it.

Three years ago my, then, 15 YO daughter got me into Kpop. First with BTS (and I also thought there was no one else but BTS), but then she introduced me to Taemin and......OH MY GOSH, he just blew me away with his creativity, charisma, intensity, and let's be honest, he's probably the most beautiful human on the planet (sorry, hubby, but I love you the most...hehehehe.) From Taemin, I discovered SHINee and that was the end of BTS for me. I've never looked back.

What I love most about SHINee: Their true, very visible brotherhood and love for each other, as well as their very demonstrable love for their fans. They are GENUINE. They are open with us and not afraid to approach us. I also love the respect that SHAWOLs have for SHINee and other fandoms. You don't get the negativity that many fandoms seem to thrive on. SHAWOLs are so respectful and well mannered that SHINee members have no trouble walking right up to them after shows like MCountdown or Inkagayo to talk with them or give them their winning bouquets (as Taemin does), to the dismay of their bodyguards. There is a heartfelt authenticity to SHINee and SHAWOLs that I haven't experienced with other fandoms.
Hello! Can't help but comment on this. What made me stay with shinee despite knowing other groups first is the brotherhood and their personalities. They're like your family, your comfort. Even if you have other friends that you go to for fun, you'll always go back home.

Once you become a Shawol, it's inevitable that you will eventually become at least a soft stan of all of SM's other groups, EXO, NCT, WayV, Red Velvet, Super Junior, Girls Generation, TVXQ, etc. because SHINee are connected to all of them. Whether it's through Taemin as a member of SuperM -- which is a group made up of members from EXO, NCT and WayV -- or if it's just getting to know SHINee on a personal level. You become fans of all the other groups because a lot of SHINee's best friends are from SM's other groups and you often see them doing things together, so once you get to know their friends you start to want to get to know their groups because EVERYTHING SM does is connected. For Example, Taemin's best friend is Kai from EXO and once you see them together you will want to get to know Kai, and in turn that will lead to getting to know EXO; Minho is best friends with Suho from EXO and Changmin from TVXQ among others; Key is friends with Taeyeon from Girls Generation, BoA and all the members of Red Velvet, etc. Welcome to the SM rabbit hole -- once you are in there is no way out. ;p

To come full circle, I pay attention to the little details that they add to incorporate JongHyun - a moon, a 5th door/chair, a reserve space…

Thank you for finding Shinee and spreading the love! Lately, some younger kpop fans like to disrespect them because I honestly think they need them out of the way for their favorites to climb. But Shinee are icons for a reason. Even other entertainment companies love them (YG’s vocal coach, even Bang PD from Hybe) and 90% of the 3rd and 4th gen idols look up to them. Other groups are amazing too, but Shinee deserve all the respect and acclaim.

i thank your friend for introducing a legendary group. key has been my bias from the start but i am telling you that i am always bias wrecked by one of the members everytime. so picking a bias on shinee is quite difficult. also my fave solo work would have to be press your number though she is comes close. also prepare yourself physically, mentally, emotionally if you are going to watch key's born to shine. it is not for the faint of heart. also good choice for going to nct next. the getting to know you stage takes time but they are following the footsteps of their senior shinee.

I was like WOW, who is this group? At time time I was heavy into Big Bang and 2NE1. Jonghyun's vocals and stage presense struck me. But It was not until 2017, when we lost Jonghyun and watching the other members struggles with what was lost and how they found resilience thru that devastating time was when I binged and dug deep into their music and Jonghyun's musical talent. I was truly blown away. You ask the defining moment I became a true Shawol, I watch SHINee's From Now On 2018 concert. It was heartbreaking❣ It was then I became a Shawol because sharing that experience with the remaining members and SHINee World change me 4ver. I started with Kpop in spring 2019 like so many with BTS and Boy with Luv. I watched a few like "best kpop songs of the decade" videos and because they were among those songs i put Lucifer and Sherlock on my Kpop playlist because i liked them. But the journey actually really took off for me with Super M and Jopping because there i met my ULT bias Baekhyun and i got introduced to NCT. I knew Taemin was in Super M too and that he was a SHINee member but that was it. After Jopping i fully became an EXO-L and a multi, BTS actually got cast aside^^. I still like them but their music is, apart from most of their title tracks, just not for me because i dont like full on hiphop/rap music.
And then DCM happened...... and i became a babywol. I am still binge watching a lot of SHINee content, there is just soooo much stuff on youtube from them!
Bias: Onew/Jinki, i am a sucker for unique voices and he has such a rich voicetone and strong voice: i love him! And he is ridiculously sexy and handsome and his lips and thighs are EVERYTHING.... And dont get me started on his smile! He joined Baekhyun on my ULT bias status

Fav moment - too many, but I'll share two. Excuse Me Miss stage performance. Key sharing his idol journey, believing himself as a chicken trying to be a Swan and come to the realisation that it's ok to be a chicken. That brilliant 15mins was so profound. I got so inspired by him.

I became shawol since I saw that cute Taemin in Replay MV, but switched to Jonghyun.
I like Jonghyun being so talented since Hyeya, Juliette, and playful in Hello Baby during RDD era, that look got me. and then, here comes the moment that I finally fell for him.
That year, when he was reported dating, he became so sad, every shawol knows he was faking the smile on Hello stage. 2010/11/07, there was a Fan Party in Taiwan, someone asked if anyone willing to support Jonghyun no matter what, she will made the banner for us. So on that FP, during Jonghyun's Solo stage, everyone in the hall held that banner said: Jonghyun ah, we will protect you!
We don't know if he saw the banner when he was performing, cause he seemed too concentrated. So during the group interview after everyone's solo, Taiwan Shawol held up the banner again when it was Jonghyun's turn to speak. After that, we clearly see that we made it! We found our playful and smiling Bling Bling Jonghyun back!!!!!
Jonghyun burst into tears on the last stage - Hello, that he couldn't ever sing anymore, so we sang it for him, and cried with him, that became the eternal moment for me.
Therefore, my favorite song is View, because I like everything of it. It is definitely a mark for K-pop industry. favorite SOLO is quite hard to choose, cause all the member's style is different... Jonghyun's White T-shirt, and Taemin - Advice, is that OK?^^
I am and will be always proud to say I am shawol because they never stop trying new things, and that's what they always say they are proud of theirselves. New genre, new choreographies, new style, singing, dancing, acting, variety, you can always expect new things from them, and they never disappoint you. So it is like physically impossible for me to pick a bias or a favorite song. Like, all of SHINee's songs are a strict no-skip list for me.
I discovered Taemin first when he released Idea and Criminal last November, so I would say I have a longer "bond" with him out of all the members, but when asked to pick a favorite of the 5, I just can't. I love how different they all are from each other. And their solo work is all sooo good.
There's an old clip from when the band visited a women's university and the host told one of the students to pick only 3 members to hug, and I just wouldn't be able to do that. I'd be like, "Uh, no, I don't like that rule. I'm hugging all of them. Not sorry."

I got into SHINee while watching a kdrama Boys Over Flowers back in 2011 while finishing my graduate studies.
How I fell in love with them:
I fell in love when watching their live performances. I had watched their lives before their music videos. They could sing well from the start.
Bias: My bias is and will always be Key. He has this charisma that you have not fully unlocked but will in time.
Favorite solo: album Key - Face.
Special song: I don't have a favorite song because they are all too good. A very special song for me though is Ayo. Whenever I went through something extremely hard it's my go to comfort song.
Memorable moment: going to SHINee World V concert and seeing them perform live and hearing Key tell his story of how his stylist burned his Gucci outfit in English!
Wow moment: watching them live perform Hitchhiking, Prism, Odd Eye, Please Don't Go

I became a Shawol after I heard BTS’s MOTS 7. I had actually been lamenting that nobody made New Jack Swing music or hard hitting commercial R&B any more. So I heard that and loved it. Someone made a comment about “if you think it’s hard to learn BTS members, try being a fan of NCT.” So I saw Superhuman and fell for “red-haired man” (Yuta). Then I saw a video where NCT 127 watched Monster, then I had to check out EXO. Then I heard Mark, Taeyong, and Kai were in a group together. They were doing their favorite songs, and they talked about SHINee (I knew the name) and then they all imitated Taemin’s Famous video. So I watched that, and then it just spiraled from there.I’m happy to say that I was there for the NGDA 1&2 comeback.

Talking about my story SHINee has become my happiness. My ultra bias is key and other 4 are bais/es. I was late because I get to know them because of Jonghyun's incident. I regret it so much until one shawol (I don't know her) told me that I am not late for anything and welcomed me. And I am a fan of my own fandom shawols. Because they are amazing. Even when they sing, and helping others
SHINee and most 2nd gen groups are legends! Specially when talking about vocals and stage performances... Your friend is right! People are quick to forget how hard it was to get big before youtube, smartphones and vlives. In varieties they would put 2-3 groups to battle for camera time instead of each episode being for just one group and promo. The video quality... you were lucky to get 480p. If your group did not do variety... they simple did not exist for the korean gp. You guys should do a reaction about MMTG 2nd gen revival! Key is one of the MCs and there is a lot to unpack for new kpop fans.
first heard of shinee when they were big in the booming kpop scene in my country back in 2009, think amigo was my very first song. wasn't a fan of it at that time. then in 2010 my sister was obsessed with shinee and played lucifer/rdd on repeat and it got me annoyed because i wasn't a fan of those two tracks. eventually she made me watch hello baby in 360p and that was it. i fell head over heels in love, and a huge part of it was because of key. he was SUCH A CHARACTER and how he looked was very close to my ideal type back then. and now, almost 12 years on i'm still here at age 27 with them. literally grew up with my five shining boys and i know they will be here with me and in my heart for the rest of my life to come :)

🔹️ *Bias* - Jinki. That voice is too incredible. Their first song I heard was From now on (Thanks youtube :/) and while it was obviously sad - you can get a lot of context from just the performance - the moment he started singing I went "WOW WHAT THE FUCK!" out loud. And I had to know who this guy is. Turned out also Taemin, who I've heard a few days prior was in this group, hence the youtube suggestion. I clicked cause Key was super pretty in the thumbnail :D I ended up liking most of their songs.
Jinki is one of my favorite singers, one of the people I can listen to forever, cause their voices sound very... idk.. I can't explain it. Peculiar? Unique? On top of that, he just seems like a very chill person and appreciates it. I love his Voice-only streams, his smile, and his small kind gestures. That said the other members are a close second to him - I can talk in length about what I like about any of them.

🔹️ *Emotional moment* Hmm... I'd say Rainy Blue by Onew and Taemin. It was just very well done and you can feel the emotion.
Also - watching View on LSD :D I'm not a tripper in general, it was just that one time, okay, but experiencing Shinee on acid hits different. *Don't do drugs!* Definitely not for this reason alone! But in case you do - give view a watch/listen.
🔹️ *Fave song* - Hmm... In general - Obsession. I love this song. But it gets taken over sometimes - Currently, it's Body rhythm.
🔹️ *The best thing about Shinee* - They are a complete package. I like listening to them, I am entertained watching them, and how the hell are all five of them so handsome on top of that? I also love how often they sing live, live. I've said this before but Shinee gives me a feeling of small moments of happiness. Like what you feel when you walk out and see something beautiful, or when you are a part of a great conversation or looking out to see it was snowing the whole night, the feeling of summer and fun. Just this captured in a song. I remember this quote in Babylon 5 "One moment of perfect Beauty" and they are that for me. that's probably the best thing about them.
I'm a fan of many things. Mostly Metal, so I never expected I would love a pop band a lot. And I like other Idol groups, but Shinee... They are their own thing.

It actually became my favourite song when it came out. It’s a soul song for me to kind of just be in my feelings and feel my emotions. On the sexy note it would be MOVE cause he is UNMATCHED.

Two things I can think about right now is the everybody Tokyo dome performance and jonghyun’s 19 second high note in stranger.
Most memorable moment: hands down. MELON MUSIC AWARDS artist of the year awarding 😭 I cried SOOOOO MUCH. That shit was so emotional for all shawols and SHINee. We were a hot mess.
Best thing about SHINee: they’re so full of character on stage. They’re not so serious, they’re clowns. I know every group is talented and very unique but their talent in my opinion is quite unmatchable. They can all sing, act, dance, and have multiple talents and interest. What I truest truest love about them is when I hear them harmonize together and sing in one voice. That to me is super special and they have never failed me musically. I genuinely love their music.
Just a little note as to how great they are and you will never get sick of them. I’ve been a shawol for a good 11 years.
SHINee has always been here for SHINee World and we have always been there for them through all their ups and downs.

Thanks Ade for not giving up on introducing SHINee to your friends!!!! I can see myself in you hyping up SHINee with other people (especially those who only know one kpop group btw).. flaunting them in my social media accts. I just feel it's sad if people don't know how great they are... SHINee deserves to be known. IMO they have set the standards and keep on setting it higher and higher, the idol of idols. The kind of experience we're having with SHINee, the amazement, the feelings... should be experienced by others too.
Back in 2010 when my friend showed me their RDD MV for the first time I was literally like "what the f is that?". And then few days later I found myself looking for this MV all over youtube because it was somwhere at the back of my head. And I found it. And I got stuck with them until today.

Best thing about SHINee: They are one of the most respected groups in K-pop yet they are all so down-to-earth. The 5 of them went through alot yet they are still going strong and are always there for each other💜💜💜💜💜
On a side note though, you should definitely check out NCT, Seventeen and Ateez. NCT and SVT are big groups but they have some dope songs and so does ATEEZ. You should check out some of the 2nd gen idols like 2PM and Highlight as well😊😊

For getting into NCT, I might actually recommend using SuperM as a path since you have Taemin there and there's only 7 of them so it's not as overwhelming as the whole NCT universe all at once. It's a natural segue into NCT and even EXO if you're feeling up for it!

My shawol origin story actually began when a friend of mine sent me their debut album to listen to, she was absolutely obsessed with them, but at the time I was really into Big Bang so I didn't actually end up listening to that album until 2009. When ring ding dong dropped, I remembered that my friend really liked them and finally went and listened to the album. I was blown away. Needless to say, I haven't looked back since.
My bias always flip flopped until Taemin's solo debut. His music style caters specifically to my tastes so, what can I say I'm a simple woman (That's not to say that the rest of the members won't wreck me on any given comeback).
Favorite song? My favorite title tracks are a tie between View and Lucifer. View had incredible visuals, and the song is full of fun summer vibes and always makes me happy. Lucifer, honestly, was the first time I was wowed by choreo in kpop, and I have a soft spot for the styling in that era (Key's haircut? Iconic. Taemin with long hair and that red/black wardrobe? Devastating. And Jonghyun's long note haunted me in my dreams).
As far as B-sides go, I can't pick just one so I'll just list my top 5: Alarm Clock, Rescue, Farewell My Love, Ayo, Obsession.
Favorite solo would be Taemin's Already, it just steals my breath away every time I listen to it, and the fact that Jonghyun wrote it makes it that much more special to me.
Wow Moment: Jonghyun's Y Si Fuera Ella performance was so raw and left a deep impression when I first saw it, and seeing them live in concert for SW5 really cemented them as my ult.
Best Thing: SHINee can literally do anything and make it work. All of the members are so talented and incredible in their own right, and it's such a treat getting to see them together when they have comebacks. SHINee's one of the only groups I grew up with that are still together, so it feels like reuniting with old friends whenever they comeback.
Since you're checking out NCT next, then it only makes sense to check out Exo afterwards since they're in the same company. They're a very close second to SHINee for me, and their discography is magical.
I'm in my mid 30's and what draws me towards them are the throwback feel good songs they do. No one in kpop can perform like they do, their vocals are ridiculous. They made a comeback in 2021 and still sounded great. RIP Jonghyun, forever 5.

I noticed your friend Ade said CL is a legend as well. She is legit for her too! She is one of the best rapper recognized by not only idols. She is the leader of 2NE1, one of the iconic 2nd gen girl group from YG (where Blackpink from).
I found it actually kind of sad that some army or other 3rd, 4th gen kpop fans are not that interested in other groups work. I know our time is limited, love and interest, too. But back in the days, 2nd gen groups used to have a bunch of collaboration, switch stages, so 2nd gen fans have their ultimate biased group, but also familiar with other groups member and tracks. If you don't have a more open mind, you might miss lots of gems, and blind with the whole K-pop industry, I truly think this is where the fan war comes.

Oh Ade! Bless you. You really did a good job. And Yetti welcome to the dark hole of SHINee again. Isn’t it such a joy to be enjoying these amazing people? I was really late into SHINee also I’ve heard about them but I was so much a drama fan (still am) that I wasn’t into K Pop. I learned about SHINee in 2017 when the tragedy happened I didn’t understand why I felt so sad and crying for someone I didn’t know. That’s when I started to dig deep and learn more about the group and of course when you dig deep you fall into the hole but I must say it was a happy hole. So when SHINee was quiet for awhile I gradually learn a lot about them watched their videos, guestings, variety show and just fall in love. Then sometime 2018, TaeMin guested in Why Not the Dancer and I was introduced to this little boy called JiSung who dances well. He did his version of Move but honestly I said to myself, ‘you still need to eat more rice to be able to dance Move’ but he was so effing cute. So I find about NCT and saw their music video called Chewing Gum and said, ‘OMG they’re so young!’ They’re like my kids. The mother instinct in me got born hahahaha. I need to do tuition for these boys. Hahahaha. Then I learned about NCT127 too and found JungWoo who was so funny. At first, I wasn’t really into their songs cause SHINee sang differently but you just want to help NCT so you stream their songs. And finally because you play it on repeat you get to like the ‘noise’ that they bring. SM really knows how to conceptualize for their groups. I commend their A&R department for it. So now like Ade I have 23 people more to love. I have 23 sons, who are extremely talented, you know SM has the best vocals right? Hahahaha I am obviously biased. But they were really trained well. K’s are usually nasal when they sing because of their language but if you’re from SM they’ve been taught to lessen that. Not only are they talented in dancing cause they also have very good dancers but VISUALLY there is no visual hole in NCT. Absolutely none. There would always be biases but there isn’t much solo stanning because you get confuses who you like at one given time. You’re going to be multi biased with NCT, you’ll find yourself shifting from liking this boy to the next one. Even Shotaro and SungChan who just entered NCT last year got me shooked. Shotaro is an amazing dancer and a cute Japanese. SungChan is just so handsome (he is MC of Inkigayo every Sunday). Hahaha. To think they don’t even have permanent groups yet. You can probably start with NCT127 and watch their Hit the States videos, American 101, Brooklyn Boys and see if you like them. Did I just start asking you to watch variety before their MVs hahahaha. My favorite 127 songs are Highway to Heaven, Superhuman, Kick It, Touch, Punch. For Dream I love Boom which I used to watch alternately with Chewing Gum even the hoverboard version just to see how much they’ve grown and of course Hot Sauce. they’ve recently become double million sellers and the repackaged album hasn’t even come out yet. 127 is coming out with a song with Amoeba Project called Save and it seems like it’s going to be a bop. Everyday i played SHINee's song, i watch SHINee video, tell them about SHINee news and they just Meh, but day by day they used to like it, they start to put interest on SHINee and ask me more about SHINee. Without realizing they humming the SHINee's song and start ther life as a Shawol 😁 Its make me happy, finally we can share and discuss the same positiv tought than gossiping other people behind 😁. My bias is minho, it started when i liked him from a drama and boom after 2 months i became a shawol officially, and i don't lie about that but every moment with them is iconic to me, i always think that although i watched alot of groups i never find such a talented men with amazing personalities like them, i'm really lucky to have them in my life , and you're lucky to because you are a shawol now, hope you get into them more to know how amazing they are, it's more than you expect really 💓

I discovered SHINee in 2012 while watching the Kdrama Boys Over Flowers. Their OST stand by me made me look them up. Their vocals where so beautiful . I fell Hard and they got me sucked into Kpop. SHINee is still and will forever be my #1 . I love all members but if I gotta choose a bias it's the best leader Onew. Hes just a pure Angel. SHINee Rock. There's not enough words to praise this guy and his VOICE omg. I can listen to him 24/7. He was the first one to win The Best Leader Award and the last. The best moment in Kpop for me was when they won Artist Of the Year 6 years after debut. These boys are so precious and humble. They are not just a band. They are family

I became a shawol when I was a baby myself back in 2009 😂 I first heard them through one of the main OSTs on Boys Over Flowers, but didn't get into them until around the Ring Ding Dong era after seeing them on Arirang TV at my grandma's house. They've all been my bias at one point but I have such a soft spot for the older ones, Onew and Jonghyun.
I've seen them grow so much and it still boggles my mind that I've been their fan for 12 years??? I basically grew up with them. I love them as performers but what really made me fall for them was seeing them on variety shows, especially Hello Baby where they took care of a 4 year old named Yoogeun. Even now Yoogeun follows them on IG and calls them his SHINee dads.
I get randomly nostalgic and emotional for a lot of their songs, but Jonghyun's "Before Our Spring" will always make me cry. I have the last lyric from that song tattooed on my shoulder.
Your friend is so right, and I hope that more newer fans at least recognize credit where credit is due with SHINee, because most current groups, including BTS, have grown up with SHINee's music and have been influenced by them in some way.

I also get overwhelmed with the idea of getting deeper into more groups.. SHINee already following like 7 artists (groups + 5 solos) for a long time I check groups here and there but SHINee is still alone up there.. still untouched. But there are really tons good groups - NCT, EXO, SEVENTEEN, ASTRO.. and more randomly catch my attention.
My history with SHINee is very long because first last year I saw Hwarang and I loved the character of Minho, so I looked for the actor and there I saw that Minho was the actor and then I discovered that he was part of a group, then I thought I would like to try to listen to them, so I watch the video Countless and I thought they were great, but then I never saw them again.
Then they realize Don't Call Me and I love it after that or before I don't remember they have this interview with IU, so since this interview I love them.
They are so talented and cool.
Shinee is my ultimate group. PERIOD. Next, I have undying love for EXO, then NCT. I will forever be thankful for NCT because they pulled me through hard times with SHINee and EXO. And with so many members in NCT, unlimited combinations, and foreign members, they are pretty much enlistment-proof. And OMG, if you love these three groups, seeing them interact in SuperM is amazing! It's clearly SM family for me.
