Lying about the number of soldiers is not an honourable thing to do, it also puts the lives of your people at risk by having them go in underpowered - tisk tisk
Yeah I couldn't understand that either - the honourable thing to do would be to be honest about the number of enemies and bring the right number of soldiers for the job - by pretending there are fewer than there are, you're basically sending the few men who *do* get sent to fight into a situation where you know they'll be heavily outnumbered and likely die in the fight. Seems pretty dishonourable to me.
To be honest, I did lie, too. Even though I cleared the Campside, I told them so we get the max Number of Sldiers with me. Losses are not neccesary for that, better Safe than sorry.
.no need to steal anything in Talmberg...run to Lady Stefanie, ask her for money and bribe the guard at the gate...done.the 30 Groschen she gives you should be enough
Nice run! Speaking to the janky combat system, I had a 80+ hour challenge run almost come to an end because of how they teleport into combat and lock in a combo on you. Such a fun game, but the combat system (at times) is horrendous lol. Keep up the great work!
Thank you! I definately agree. Very fun and unique combat but so ambitious for such a small studio and it definately shows up from time to time! Hope everything is settled down for you since your move and glad to see you posting again! Enjoying your current run on your Let's Play channel!
I absolutely love the combat, for all it's flaws I think it sometimes adds. It can be very difficult and cause you to restart several times but then when you get it right it's all the more satisfying.
tbh thatcombat system is perfect for 1v1s,game struggles only with mass fights and with textures - I often got stuck into bush when fighting multiple bandits somewhere on road :D
Man, awesome video as usual. Crime is just too broken in KCD and tbh, even just looting is too, since at any point you can just go to Skalitz and get end game armor. Anyway, so that brings me to a play style I am trying rn, tho I am not far with it. I call it "Skin-walker", the idea is that you can only wear looted armor. The catch is, you have to wear everything that a given enemy had on you along with his weapon. You can´t just take helmet for example, it´s all or nothing. And another catch, you have to change after every fight. If you fight a group, you have to pick one. So if you have great gear and kill a peasant, you have to downgrade yourself. Inspiration: Sai´s picturebook in Naruto.
That is an awesome idea! I think that would add a lot of strategy to it for sure. Do you go for the lightly armored but easy to kill or go for heavily armored but hard to kill option? I have something similar to that I'm planning right now just based around no groschen. Only way to acquire anything is to loot off corpses, not allowed to maintain anything, including weapons
@@Griff_Gaming I prefer heavy armor, but so far it ended up sort of a progress from light to heavy because of the enemy scaling. My favorite challenge about it is that it forces Mr to use various weapons. It's also cool that my Henry looks unique because I have gear I wouldn't nornally wear.
I didn't even know you could lose at Priby for having too few men! When I tried that at launch, we made it to the church yard, and only 3 were left- Radzig, Robard, and Jaroslav. They all took turns getting knocked out and getting back up. Didn't fail me.
No haggling is a bit harsh, considering you were expected to haggle. Traders will still get the better of every deal. I would, however, agree that disallowing haggling for repairs makes sense.
Trust me at the start when money hard to come by it is a little rough. I thought of it like if I haggled being a "shady merchant" always trying to get a better deal. It was more just to make it even harder to come by gear and repairs so my groschen is stretched even thinner
Yay! My favorite up and coming content creator 🙂 very good video! Your a stronger man than me to try this lol 😂 i can't help but loot and steal all throughout my playthroughs....applause to you my good man, truly an honorable knight Henry has become at long last
You have no idea how much self restraint it took! I traditionally play like a squirrel preparing for winter. Like take every single thing I can off bodies. It hurt some part of my soul to not loot some of the high level bandits that had nice weapons and armor. But I'm through it now and a stronger person because of it 🤣
I’m glad you were able to take out the Cuman camp on your own terms, but I think that having as few soldiers as possible was the less honorable thing to do anyway. It’s true that you were putting less lives at risk, but you were putting those lives at greater risk. If the goal was being honorable, I think it would’ve made more sense to have the numbers be as equal as possible to give each individual soldier the best odds of survival.
Just tried to see if it was doable with mid level gear and minimal troops for challenge reasons. I was willing to go back and ask for more if it turned out it wasnt.
@@maggi98mw I'm not sure if you can do that on harcore difficulty since one of the changes is "Health potions take much more time to take effect." and Revenant no longer causes health regen.
Headcracker is so stupid. I remember headcracking Runt on my 2nd attack basically entirely skipping the mini boss fight. Also I think you can sneak into the monastery via the construction site and kill the hiding bandit. Not sure if you have to pick any locks or if taking the dice counts as stealing.
In this run unfortunately both. To break in required lockpicks and to get the die off him would have been looting but also required killing him which would have been a crime. Fortunately killing the bandits was ok just because it was self defense. I agree about headcracker but when it prompted during the Black Peter fight it was the greatest perk ever created lol
I thought this run looked pretty tough, but doable until 6:00. You mentioned all food had to be bought. That didn't cross my mind until then. No grabbing free stew, worth 25 nourishment, that is littered throughout the world. You did the impossible bud!!! great content!
i dont get it man, why dont you just use the master strike against foes, like all i do is stand still and time my parry thats all it takes to beat even the highest level enemies, ofc its not begginer friendly but still do-able
Nice. I'm doing my no money run right now on normal mode. It's certainly a different experience. I've been saving mission rewarded money (has to be given to me, nothing taken) for the rebuild of pribyslavitz. I haven't done all the possible side missions but most of them (my main mission is ready for vranik) and it was barely enough to get the tavern built which is the point where the town becomes profitable. So if you spend your coin on needless luxurious like the ability to read or a place to sleep you may not be able to finish From the Ashes.
Very interesting! I didn't even attempt From the Ashes just because I didn't think I would get enough money to even afford some profitable buildings. Bc before even building anything, the materials are several thousand (I think the granite is like 3k if you help them at the quarry)
@@Griff_Gaming yeah you'll need like 10k for the trader, bridge, and woodcutter. Then starts supplies where you need the 3 to 4k for stone. I got Marius to keep his old wage and recruited raspberry, kunesh, and kornelius. I got the cheapest livestock (woodcutter bonus) and waited on the rest of supplies. That with a couple judgements optimized for income I was able to just break even on daily costs. At that point it's 8k for the tavern (and 80 for grain) to start making around 500/day. So really you need almost 22k to go from start to profitable in From the Ashes.
I didn't think that much money could even be made from all the quests in the game tbh. I also pigeon holed myself on this run bc I didn't take any that involved stealing (no millers and no hunting since the meat would be stolen) along with some others I felt would be at other people's expense (for example helping Herman get rid of the other executioner bc it involved embarrassing him, etc) I would be curious how much you can actually make total by completing every single quest in the game
@@Griff_Gaming the poaching, Millers, and camp clearing probably paid the best. Some missions I couldn't do without spending money/knowing how to read so that restricted me but definitely not as bad as an Honorable ruleset would. If I had to buy my food or gear there would be no way. It's interesting. Money farming (i.e. skalitz runs and vendor exploits) really makes the game economy feel trivial but being a skilled thief might be just as op. Sure, I can't bribe, read, or pay for repairs but I had a 16 charisma outfit and a 20vis/0 nose outfit after my first ratay raid. Between the two setups I was unstoppable. I could tell any guard to shove it whilst wearing all stolen equipment.
Yea I never noticed until this run just how OP looting and stealing was. Like coming our of skalitz I usually have the same money I probably had after Prybislavitz in this run
Not to blow up your comments section, but... For the monastery - if you think it's more honorable you can skip getting the letter and instead break in and kill pious. I don't think you'd be able to fight him (you could try) so likely it'd be a stab in his sleep. Not 100% honorable but you'd at least be killing a criminal instead of stealing from an innocent and pretending to be someone you're not. Radzig has no authority within the monastery itself so it's almost a loophole?
So in a bit of a behind the scenes moment, I tried that. I didn't have enough lockpicking to break in anywhere so I went to the top of the scaffolding and jumped in. But my stealth was so low not being used it woke all the other monks up so I got a jail sentence. Had no way of training stealth within my rule set so I was kinda stuck
@@Griff_Gaming oof. Sounds rough. Creative solution, too bad it didn't work out. Did you have 0 noise stat and that still wasn't enough to get passed sleeping monks? I had lots of stealth and had already been sleeping in the monastery basement when in town. I tried a few ways with save scumming. What I settled on was a bow shot to the head and run back to basement. I waited a few minutes and then stealthed back up to get the dice. Managed to get the dice undetected and without a reputation loss.
@@Griff_Gaming ah. Yeah even with 13 stealth I couldn't stab him without people waking. I even tried to do a knockout thinking I would carry the body away before finishing. Didn't work out. That's when I decided to bow kill and run. Everyone woke and guards came but they settled in after a few moments and lowered their aggression. I was able to run back up to get the dice. One guard was complaining about the undertaker talking too long while I looted the dice and bolted. That was with 17vis/20cons though. In your shoes you might be able to get up to get the dice while they are yelling at you about trespassing . You may escape but I'm sure your rep would've suffered.
Haggling is not a crime. This means merchants put prices way above an actual value of the item. You could hit logs one more time for antidote potion. 2 times is not considered farming, it means you like the contest😅
sir hanush can equip you quite well , winning tourneys gives you pieces of a pretty good armor, doing waldesians quest he can give you a decent longsword st.michael's sword if i'm not mistaken
Yeah, I decided to NOT use Lords of Leipa pieces just bc I felt that would take some of the challenge out of the run but St Michael's Sword I used throughout most of the playthrough. He also give Magdeburg Cuirass after Robber Baron so used that too!
Well, befor watching the video I woud say most of the best items in game are quest or treasur chest related. For example the tourny quest for the lipa armor and literaly all good weapons, even the best sword in the game. No lookpicking and looting or stealing is quit the challange thoe.
Yeah technically I could just do the tourney but it just felt too easy to just get one of the best sets just doing that. Also treasure chests is technically looting (not stealing but it's free loot) and most good ones required lockpicking lol this was a super fun challenge though!
That's true but you can't sprint or run so likely hood I would have made it all the way over there was very slim with the remaining health I had unfortunately
@BeatsByHGFRaiden pebbles would spook if I was still in battle. Either way I only had 15 groschen and wasn't allowed to haggle. Cheapest healing option at baths is 20 so I wouldn't have been able to either way unfortunately
I don't remember how I got into the monastery, but I was able to finish the game with no kills and zero crimes all down the line. Your video makes me want to try it all over again to be a perfect Henry again. hmmm
Unfortunately that minestary quest is the killer of a "perfect" run. You either have to lockpick the chest to steal the writ, pickpocket it from the handler, or say screw the monestary and kill Pious without being accepted. I have yet to find a way to do it without doing anything morally wrong (steal, murder, etc.)
@@Griff_Gaming I think what happened for me was that I did end up pick pocketing (I went back and loaded the save right before I apparently did that) and I suppose when you only take a quest item, it doesn't register as a crime.
Do you not consider the Leipa-Set a quest reward? I thought that was the logical way to do this, not cheesy at all. Would only be cheesy if you used the 'wait for the next tournament' option, but when the tourney comes up naturally it's fair game, even the honourable thing to do, wearing the armor that represents your host. I would even say buying armor instead of using this quest reward goes against the spirit of the challenge. Was a fun video tho :)
I do but I thought it might make it a bit too easy. The tourney was a little too easy to win and getting the second best set of gear in the game behind the Zoul set just would have trivialize the challenge I feel like
@@Griff_Gaming While i understand that take, you only get the armor piece by piece, i feel this would be a nice pace of progression. Then again, i have no idea how many in-game days this challenge took
@maggi98mw this one was a longer challenge (about 65 hours of recordings) but even then I think I ran through the tourney only about 3 times so I wouldn't have gotten all the pieces even if I did use them
I did something a bit like this to start my current run (four years after my first playthrough). I did pick up weapons under certain conditions (the Skalitz bailiff's short sword when you go back to bury your parents for example, as it would probably be looted anyway, and Henry would probably want to put it through some scumbags in revenge), but for the most part I used my original clothes, original armour and bludgeon (from the Rattay patrol quest), and the bow you win from Capon. It was a lot more fun playing like that without stealing, although I did level up skills like lockpicking and pickpocketing on enemies without actually stealing stuff just in case they were ever needed for a quest. Slaying enemies was fine but I mostly levelled up combat skills by training, and only really levelled up my bow with contests or hunting once you're allowed to later on. I found I actually had more money than ever when a certain Pribyslavitz DLC quest came along. I always try to pick more moral dialogue options and whatnot (threatening or bribing enemies is cool, but I'd be diplomatic/sympathetic with innocents and try to help people wherever I could). I was lucky to avoid a "civilian death" when I first got ambushed by Black Peter. I reloaded when I realised it counts against you, so this time I knocked him out without really knowing what to do. I slashed him with his poisoned sword, he died after a delay and it didn't count as a civilian death 😅 The longsword Hanush gives you for the Uzhitz priest thing was with me until I was able to buy a Tusk, and the same for Capon's hunting bow until I could buy a Sinew bow. I did buy a Rattay shield while doing stuff for them, and that was good for me until I got the Skalitz shield. Same goes for tournament armour and shield rewards. It was nice not being a super soldier early on. I'm trying to get the Virgin trophy this time around too, so Theresa will have to wait for that third "date" lmao Anyway, enough waffling from me. Very enjoyable video! 🫡
Noticed on my hardcore run that on the Pripyzlaviz fight if you get next to the archers shooting on top of the wall and jump they will switch to swords and jump down from the wall.
Did you burn all their arrows during recon? I've noticed they jump down too but only when I burn their arrows unfortunately which I wasn't allowed to do in that run. Far as unarmed only, while not "part of" the challenge, that essentially what my NPC run became so you can check that out on the channel. Unarmed and no armor throughout
I'll have to try that then. On most of my challenge runs I don't burn the arrows either and I always thought the only way to get them off the wall was to limit their arrows.
@Griff_Gaming Weird. I could swear there was a good way to do it. My memory could be wrong. I haven't done it the correct way since my goody two shoes playthrough, though. I'll never join the monastery again.
🤣 I usually don't join either! This last challenge run I did as an NPC has to be the funniest way I think I've done it. But yeah I got the guardian drunk to talk to him alone and he told me to steal the writ for myself and his coin purse so he could flee. Other option is to steal it from the chest before talking to either of them but that requires lockpicking the chest so I'd have broken the "rules" either way unfortunately
I only said that because you can technically just win the tourney, pay to wait for the next one and do this 5 times in a row and have one of the best suits of armor in the game before even going hunting with Hans. Since this was a challenge run that seemed to me like it would kill the challenge of the run if one hour in, I already have endgame armor
I'm still trying to cook up the rules for my next run but I do want to complete a full perk hardcore. Most I've done is 4 perks. I'm tempted to RP Henry as a lawful alchemist. Being able to sell herbs and potions for money. Bow, wood bludgeon, and dagger, no shield. No crime or looting (rip cuman bow) except when required by my liege lord. Probably some sort of armor restriction but I'm not sure how far to go. Open to tweaks/suggestions.
If you're gonna go for a stealth archer approach something light and dark. No chain mail or plate armor so you can be nimble and keep space between opponents. Makes fighting groups hard though, getting surrounded would pretty much be a death sentence but it would certainly make things interesting
Did you get your inventory back after Vranik? I always steal my stuff back before escaping but I'm curious to know what equipment gets given to you if you come back empty handed.
Usually I do but in this challenge I actually put all my good equipment on my horse before going in, put on the low tier stuff I wore towards the beginning of the challenge and when that got taken away I just left it in Vranik and took my good stuff back from the horse. Far as the gear you're given it's mid to high tier from the armory. Milanese brigandine, chainmail, decent pauldrons and chausses but nothing that will blow you away that late in the game but it's better than nothing if all your gear is gone lol
Watching this I'm pretty sure I saw at least eight hundred different side quests and other encounters I didin't even know existed. Jesus Chris be praised; my brain has melted.
Ironically this playthrough I had to skip so many quests because they were "dishonorable" (for example the millers quests) but I think in total there is like 119 quests in this game (including DLC).
Towards the end of the game fayfar gives you an italian bacinet for helping him, but you have to loot it from his chest at the camp to get it. I think that should be acceptable, only looting if its a reward you have to grab yourself, or looting something off an enemy if its a quest reward also cause its not normal looting. You have to loot to complete certain quests so you should be able to loot for rewards as well.
There was a couple instances I thought about it. Like after Vranik Bernard gives you access to armory to get a new set of armor. At that point though I preferred the armor I had. In hardcore mode the closed face helmets only give 8 or 9 more protection that the bell shaped kettle hat I had but between the limited vision and stamina hit from the Clausterphobia debuff I try to avoid it when I can
Not drinking with Godwine is a sin against both God and humanity :D but i respect your need for achievemnt and content and we probably all seen that scene andits awesome :D
Nice to see that I wasn't the only one who thought of this. Although my end goal was pribizlavitz (sp?). I wasn't allowed to buy anything that wasn't given to me, like food and ammo, and I used alchemy to be self-sufficient. This character was also "dyslexic" and had to read jumbled letters to make potions, which was almost as much of a challenge as using the quest rewards only.
Oh yeah, and he created his own tournament in the tavern with everyone having special dice sets. Even with lucky throw and the beer, that was a real challenge.
16:09 Taking the bloody hoof pick was also already bending the rules this way. But IMO quest items can definitely be exempted from the rules in this kind of challenge. The hoof pick is not actually necessary in any way, as I noticed in a 0 crime stat run that I'm doing. Not taking it actually leads to a bit of alternative dialogue that most players probably haven't seen.
"I can only use quest rewards" No looting, stealing, lockpicking or pickpocketting 🤨 im sorry what...isnt that obvious or am i dumb and there like a thieves mission to pickpocket stuff, u can keep it and they pay u or something I remember near the beginning where u gotta pay off u debt and steal something
Yeah, it was to clarify that I could only do missions that were "noble". So I didn't do any of the theiving quests. Also some people consider looting the bandits at the end of Bernard's quests technically quest rewards since part of your reward is killing the bandits and taking their gear to sell
I might try this, I've done a few runs off of who Henry is.... i think i will allow game meat though if it is not marked as stolen ie the Hans quest. Possibly alchemy too, nothing wrong with making healing potions.... just no poisions ect. It would give me a good reason to say no to Pesheck..... so far ive always used him for lock picks Not sure how i would handle the hare quest though. Out the current humtsman that fingered an innocent man/ framed him for murder or side with Nicholas (huntsman) and kill the man trying to clear his name through mischief and blackmail? Personally i think i would side with Hare, knowing what i do, however HENRY only learns all i know if he chooses certain options. Wonder if he would?
Even still I think with the hare quest I think you would need to steal the huntsmans horn so Hanekin can distract him and then either kidnap or lie to his wife to get her over to Hanekin. Part of the reason I didn't do the quest on this playthrough since either side you side with has you doing questionable actions for the greater good. I did the stuff with the food and potions to make it more challenging. Until about the mid game the groschen is so limited to get decent equipment there is a fine balance between what potions are "nice to have" and which are "need to have"
Still watching but I am already mad that the Huntsman´s quest in Rattay actually worked for you. I tried it on multiple playthroughs both on PC and PS4 and that quest never works for me and the cages just disappear 🤬
Oh man, I'm so happy it works consistently now. I do remember that bug when the game came out and it messed w/ me bc only one of my cages disappeared. So I had 2, thinking I'm messing up by not finding the third 🤦♂️
Never had a problem with it. I always put the cages in a place that I can get back to then I go off and hunt for a bit. Lots of game in that area. Once the squawking stops the cages are there with a cover somehow magically placed over them.
Sorry to have to say, but "challenge runs" videos like this are not really exiting. We are not there with you to experience the frustration and difficulty the challenge provides, even the combats which are expressed to have given you so much trouble are summarized into cuts from couple of hits you got in, and then it's over. I mean if it mattered, one could say this does not even serve as evidence that this challenge is completed, nut I get it, that competition is not the point of this video.
This was my first one. I've recently started live streaming them so if that's what interests you then you can watch the whole run and see all the challenges encountered
Almost don’t my first play through . Great game but I’m slocked you don’t get a human sidekick . I was waiting and waiting and then found out all you get is the dog.. why lol
The horse in the game isn't classified as "stolen" but the journal even says steal a horse and Henry says he stole a horse to go to Talmberg. So technically from a "game mechanics" standpoint you are correct but from an "ethical" standpoint he takes a horse that isn't his, therefore stolen
Maybe I'm thinking of talmberg it says to steal. Either way, it was more in the spirit of the run to not "steal" something that wasn't directly given to Henry
I kept Kuno alive through the whole DLC - but of course he and one of the brothers got a bleeding wound in the final fight. Quest and DLC completed fine, they rode off and then promptly fell off their horses, dead on the road 😂
😂😂 at least you got the full credit for completing the DLC, but that is pretty funny that he made it through 4 seperate battles and died due to a lack of a bandage. I wish there was a mod that reworked the AI in the game (kind of like skyrim has) that would allow NPCs to actually use inventory items. Like healing potions, apply poison to their weapons, buffs, etc. Most of the ones I've tried to mod into my game either don't work with current patches or stopped getting support in 2019
@@Griff_Gaming If they would have even told me I'd have given them a bandage and a marigold potion but noooo. They just took off and then popped off. :D Many in game weeks later the horses were still standing in the middle of the path.
@AleksiJoensuu I basically expect either Bernard's or Radzigs horse to become a permanent fixture of Neuhof in my Playthroughs bc for some reason they always dismount them around there and the horse will stay there forever lol
That's definately coming in the future. Probably after this next run I do as an NPC. Luckily I'm pretty good with a bow in this game but not having the option to use melee when facing multiple opponents definately makes the difficulty spike
I'm kind of doing that but on normal, and so far it's pretty much been a breeze so long as you've got good armour and you kite very well against groups
1:16 I hope you also play on hardcore with all negative perks. To be honest I would agree with most of these, except for the maintenance. If I would play this I would also allow to loot the bandit and Cuman camps, but only ones that I go after in quests. Before watching the video, I wonder if you would make good use of archery to make close quarters combat manageable with the weaker gear.
They rarely help but going against polearms that tend to hit a little lower or archers they can be lifesavers. Far as helmet I already had bell shaped kettle hat (best without a visor and doesn't affect claisterphobic perk) and the magdeburg cuirass from Hanush which is best in the base game. I was actually surprised how much nice stuff you could get with just quest rewards!
There is a way to get past the monestary without pickpocketing, because I did a very similar run to this myself a few years ago. If you climb the scaffolding you can get onto the roof of the monestary and kill Pious with an arrow. You don't even need to loot the dice, simply return to the bandits and they will be aware that one of the novices was killed and you can advance the quest. Whether this would be valid for your run or not is debatable. On the one hand, it involves killing an NPC that did not directly initiate combat with you. On the other hand, Pious is a murderer and even if you take the "peaceful" route you will send him to the gallows anyway, so you still technically end up causing his death. Other than that, nice video. It would have been good to add another couple of rules to it. 1) No training with Bernard other than when the games forces you to + once more for each weapon to unlock master strikes. 2) No cheesing Chumps on the river, only play it once to get the one-time archery training he gives you if you beat the record score.
My goal was to try to get it without "stealing". Even if it's before talking to them it required lockpicking which I was trying to avoid, but ultimately failed 😑
I think it's 3 days from the time the quest starts. If you find him prior to 3 days he will be alive and well. After 3 days he is half dead unless you kill those bandits
They've all been updated but not for a while now. I play on both PC and console and they both have their fair share of bugs. I have also played this game for almost 5,000 hours at this point so I generally know what to expect
I can't believe i'm watching someone use combos in KCD. I did my hardcore all neg and could only do the standard 3 hitters and 4 if i was super lucky. Salutations Henry!!!
It's a little easier with open face helmets. You don't run out of stamina quite so quickly but it makes you a little more vulnerable to stabs to the face
hey there, i played this game for about 1500 hours, about the cumans at skallitz (before getting shot in the leg), you can grab your horse, when you whistle at that point for a horse, you "own" a horse, so it's not stealing, you even have the ability to loot it or put items in it's saddle, which means it's not a stolen horse, and use it to ram them off. i've beaten that first cuman like once or twice fairly out of dozens atmepts, even than, it required luck, and potion afterwards. an other method of killing the cumans there, which nowadays i kill like 20 cumans at that point, is by running into them using the horse. the problem with black peter: before womans lot dlc (i believe it was patch 1.9.2) battle mechanics were very very good, after patch 1.9.3, they added bugs and new mechanics which makes peter a problem. the bug is that when the npc tries to do the combo blunt strike with a short weapon, we can't master strike the stab.(the first hit) surprise surprise, it becomes a problem with a poisond short sword.... also, black peter from time to time glitches and becomes immune to melee weapons dmg. which sucks, i showed on stream how i fight him for 30 minutes the main problem with how you fight black peter is that you use slashes with the sword you have, the answer is face stab. he has an open helmet, just stab and pull the cursor up while you're at it after a master strike, it will crush him.
There's a few ways. You can either steal a guard uniform and sneak out, get money from Stephanie and bribe the guard, jump down the moat and escape, or if you get arrested any time in Talmberg they just kick you out so you get out regardless. Take your pick
There's a few ways to do it. Across this playthrough I was trying to avoid glitching the game out by abusing game mechanics such as fighting from carts or getting on rooftops
Very true, there's several ways to get the charcoal. Somehow going back to father to me in this case seemed cowardly (kind of like tucking my tail between my legs and giving up on getting it) so I went with lockpick option in this case. Not much better since you kind of back down from the confrontation but a little problems solving nonetheless
They were but I didn't want to exploit it too much. Used the bets with Peshek twice and the prize money from Hanush but not the Lords of Leipa pieces. Happy balance
@@Griff_Gamingbut it's interesting to me how common bugs are for other people. in all my years of playing this games i've never encountered a single one.
They are pretty common to this day. When they game first came out I'd say it was every couple hours you could experience a crash or a game breaking bug (getting stuck on stairs, falling through the map, quests not activating allowing progression, etc). They are much rarer these days but in each of my playthroughs (roughly 30-50 hours each) I experience about 3-4 throughout. In my no healing challenge run I livestreamed I had maybe 5. Game crashed, Hans wouldn't shoot his bow in the contest, loading screen got stuck, competed in a tournament and the opponent became immortal (seriously hit him with like 30 master strikes and he didn't die). It's annoying and most are quite funny tbh so I try to showcase some of the better ones in my edited VOD videos
@@Griff_GamingGreat vid will be checking out more. God I hope we get a KCD 2 announcement soon, this one was super jank at times but still so good. Few games have made me feel so immersed...just don't look at the people spawning inside each other, they're not real, they can't hurt you(they might don't touch them, don't perceive them ever)
Seems pretty dishonourable to me.
it's the robb stark approach
To be honest, I did lie, too.
Even though I cleared the Campside, I told them so we get the max Number of Sldiers with me.
Losses are not neccesary for that, better Safe than sorry.

It can be very difficult and cause you to restart several times but then when you get it right it's all the more satisfying.
tbh thatcombat system is perfect for 1v1s,game struggles only with mass fights and with textures - I often got stuck into bush when fighting multiple bandits somewhere on road :D
oh yes... and wait you are in 1v5 and guy run and smash you because its a tackle for the game but he is in front of you
Got to agree the combat is janky I can be in full plate armor with high stats, get ambushed by bandits wearing very little and still get beat
Dishonoring a maiden before marriage is not honorable
But Henry does have intentions to marry her, so it's OK
Yeah, I think they patched it because I can promise, after seeing that screen about 15 times, you can definitely fail that battle 🤣
But I'm through it now and a stronger person because of it 🤣
A knight who’s the son of a blacksmith not knowing basic armor and weapon maintenance? Sure, your challenge
Yeah more for the challenge aspect, if I could just repair my own gear it kind of negates the need for money.
If you go to the bathhouse while poisoned, they can cure it 12:00

Thank you! This was the first of many!
Just sell the shit you get at pesheks and at your own house in skalitz, it's not stealing so it's yours and you can.
@maihck yeah even with zero noise, they sleep so close together they woke up when I broke his neck (stealth needs to be at 5 to stab him)
@@Griff_Gaming ah.
Anyway, I feel I've taken enough of your time. I enjoyed the video and I'll catch you in the next one.
Interesting to see what stuff you have to do if you want to be a good person... No wonder I always have lockpicking and stealth up high first^^
Usually I do too so this llaythrough just felt wierd. Especially no looting lol
When you fight Black Peter, you can go to the bathhouse to cure your wounds and it’ll get rid of the poison effect.
That's true but you can't sprint or run so likely hood I would have made it all the way over there was very slim with the remaining health I had unfortunately
@@Griff_Gaming couldnt you have called your horse over?
@BeatsByHGFRaiden pebbles would spook if I was still in battle. Either way I only had 15 groschen and wasn't allowed to haggle. Cheapest healing option at baths is 20 so I wouldn't have been able to either way unfortunately
Try this challenge on hardcore with all negative perks. If that is not enough try to rebuild pribislavitz.
This was on hardcore with all 9 negative perks....
@@Griff_Gaming sorry for my stupidity and for skipping intro...
11:19 black peter was a cake walk for me. course i was turtled up in full plate and maxed out sword and mace skills but he wasn't that tough.
Honestly he usually isn't for me either. Not really sure why he was such a pain in the a** this time around lol
"tried sitting on their log".
Pause
You could have had waited for the all that glisters quest, and gotten master Vittus's curiass which is better than the raider curiass
I never really messed with Vittus' Curiass because everyone usually gave the impression that he was an inferior blacksmith. I'll have to check it out!
I slashed him with his poisoned sword, he died after a delay and it didn't count as a civilian death 😅
The longsword Hanush gives you for the Uzhitz priest thing was with me until I was able to buy a Tusk, and the same for Capon's hunting bow until I could buy a Sinew bow. I did buy a Rattay shield while doing stuff for them, and that was good for me until I got the Skalitz shield. Same goes for tournament armour and shield rewards. It was nice not being a super soldier early on. I'm trying to get the Virgin trophy this time around too, so Theresa will have to wait for that third "date" lmao
Anyway, enough waffling from me. Very enjoyable video! 🫡
Noticed on my hardcore run that on the Pripyzlaviz fight if you get next to the archers shooting on top of the wall and jump they will switch to swords and jump down from the wall.
also would love to see an unarmed combat only challenge
Did you burn all their arrows during recon? I've noticed they jump down too but only when I burn their arrows unfortunately which I wasn't allowed to do in that run.
Far as unarmed only, while not "part of" the challenge, that essentially what my NPC run became so you can check that out on the channel. Unarmed and no armor throughout
@@Griff_Gaming didn't burn the arrows, yeah i cheked the NPC video.
I'll have to try that then. On most of my challenge runs I don't burn the arrows either and I always thought the only way to get them off the wall was to limit their arrows.

oh shit ive tried that too, bad memories coming up
Harder than it seems at first. Especially me I restricted the side quests I allowed myself to do (millers quests, etc)

viking challenge no armor only axes?
Could be interesting. I have a run I'm editing right now with no armor that should be coming out soon!
You don't have to pickpocket the writ. You have to talk to the guy without the guardian there.
Yes you do. You talk to him without the guardian there and he asks you to get the writ
Other option is to steal it from the chest before talking to either of them but that requires lockpicking the chest so I'd have broken the "rules" either way unfortunately
try to do a only bow, no hit and no cheese spots :)
Might be on the horizon!
Videos like this make me miss MittenSquad.
RIP Mitten. I think any RPG youtuber doing challenge runs owes some tribute to Mitten Squad and I'm no exception
How is winning armor in a contest of strenght cheesing? If you legitimately won the armor then its fine.
@@Griff_Gaming I've got to be honest, I didn't think you would reply so quickly. Thank you for the clarification.
You got it! Thank you for watching!
Leipa armour is a quest reward
It is, I felt it might be a bit too powerful and trivialize the challenge
Watching this I'm pretty sure I saw at least eight hundred different side quests and other encounters I didin't even know existed.
Jesus Chris be praised; my brain has melted.
Ironically this playthrough I had to skip so many quests because they were "dishonorable" (for example the millers quests) but I think in total there is like 119 quests in this game (including DLC).
If I remember correctly, during the initial patrols you do in Rattay, you get a bludgeon that you could've used for the Jakey fight.
I had gotten it. That's what I initially used to kill the first couple bandits but I think I had already sold it at that point
Eventually on one of my challenge runs I'll for sure do it haha
Nice to see that I wasn't the only one who thought of this. Although my end goal was pribizlavitz (sp?). I wasn't allowed to buy anything that wasn't given to me, like food and ammo, and I used alchemy to be self-sufficient. This character was also "dyslexic" and had to read jumbled letters to make potions, which was almost as much of a challenge as using the quest rewards only.
Oh yeah, and he created his own tournament in the tavern with everyone having special dice sets. Even with lucky throw and the beer, that was a real challenge.
It was a lot of fun for sure!
NO ONE IS TALKIN ABOUT THE TREBUCHET CHICKEN
This isn't Skyrim, killing chickens isn't illegal! Lmao
@@Griff_Gaming I know but requires immense unluckiness of the Chicken or insane accuracy of the Trebuchet
I had made the exception for quest items. Hoofpick, the bandit ears, and the dice from the Vranik bandits were all kinda bending the rules in a way
"I can only use quest rewards"
No looting, stealing, lockpicking or pickpocketting
🤨 im sorry what...isnt that obvious or am i dumb and there like a thieves mission to pickpocket stuff, u can keep it and they pay u or something
I remember near the beginning where u gotta pay off u debt and steal something
Yeah, it was to clarify that I could only do missions that were "noble". So I didn't do any of the theiving quests. Also some people consider looting the bandits at the end of Bernard's quests technically quest rewards since part of your reward is killing the bandits and taking their gear to sell
Glory to the Head-cracker Perk!
You have no idea how grateful I was when I saw that pop up! Lol
Where did you finds Hans capon I cant find him and i want to do his quest
He should be at Pirkstein Castle first door on the right after you complete Ginger in a Pickle
Great Playthrough! You should now do the opposite run! Only evil choices!
I have some ideas how I might be able to do that as a challenge run
I might try this, I've done a few runs off of who Henry is.... i think i will allow game meat though if it is not marked as stolen ie the Hans quest. Possibly alchemy too, nothing wrong with making healing potions.... just no poisions ect.
It would give me a good reason to say no to Pesheck..... so far ive always used him for lock picks
Not sure how i would handle the hare quest though.

Well made Video 🤣😄
Thank you! Glad you liked it!

It was a lot of fun! Especially since usually I have more money than I know what to do with this made me almost prioritize what to spend my money on
the Horse Olena that comes when you whistle is not STOLEN! whistling brings her to you AND the Cumans leave Theresa alone!
The horse in the game isn't classified as "stolen" but the journal even says steal a horse and Henry says he stole a horse to go to Talmberg. So technically from a "game mechanics" standpoint you are correct but from an "ethical" standpoint he takes a horse that isn't his, therefore stolen
@@Griff_Gaming it does not say STEAL, it says GET A HORSE...dunno if the english game is different
Maybe I'm thinking of talmberg it says to steal. Either way, it was more in the spirit of the run to not "steal" something that wasn't directly given to Henry
@@Griff_Gaming well...that might be true..
30:20 you can also dodge the strike instead of just blocking it, fixing those amour cost a lot
For sure!
I think it’d be great to see a bow only run of KCD. With the combat already being unforgiving, I would love to see the struggle
Tfw no punching cows for several hours
Not this time 😔
Black peter would have been a non issue if you knew you could run to the baths and heal there :)
I knew. I had 15 groschen. Takes at least 20 groschen to heal at the baths and I wasn't allowed to haggle
i would consider fighting an unarmed man with a weapon dishonorable
even if he was attacking you?
1:16 I hope you also play on hardcore with all negative perks.
To be honest I would agree with most of these, except for the maintenance. If I would play this I would also allow to loot the bandit and Cuman camps, but only ones that I go after in quests.
Before watching the video, I wonder if you would make good use of archery to make close quarters combat manageable with the weaker gear.
Ive snapped many games in half out of frustration when i was younger i have much more patience now
I might have to get this one digitally, as much as I love the first one I've def rage quit it multiple times! Lol
@@Griff_Gaming thats why I get all my games digitally
@@Richard-yt9vii would if they weren't so damn pricey
You looted the hares with Lord Capon. You've broken your own rules 🤣
Trust me, the chausses barely help, invest in a good helmet or chest piece
Black Peter first try! EZ
You shouldn’t play ghost of Tsushima
Why not?
I was able to steal the monastery document from the chest before talking to them
My goal was to try to get it without "stealing". Even if it's before talking to them it required lockpicking which I was trying to avoid, but ultimately failed 😑
@@Griff_Gaming but sir, you can't steal what's already yours 🫡
True enough
I actually didn't know Reeky isn't always half-dead when you find him, I guess it took me too long to find him?
I think it's 3 days from the time the quest starts. If you find him prior to 3 days he will be alive and well. After 3 days he is half dead unless you kill those bandits
@@Griff_Gaming oh interesting, I was far too busy with all the side quests you get at the start of the game
@slipperyfish7560 it's easy to get side tracked lol
How is your game so buggy? I played on pc not long ago and didnt encounter any bugs, did the console version not get updated?
They've all been updated but not for a while now. I play on both PC and console and they both have their fair share of bugs. I have also played this game for almost 5,000 hours at this point so I generally know what to expect
There is a way to get a good chest piece from the wayfaring knight
I can't believe i'm watching someone use combos in KCD. I did my hardcore all neg and could only do the standard 3 hitters and 4 if i was super lucky. Salutations Henry!!!
It's a little easier with open face helmets. You don't run out of stamina quite so quickly but it makes you a little more vulnerable to stabs to the face
hey there, i played this game for about 1500 hours, about the cumans at skallitz (before getting shot in the leg), you can grab your horse, when you whistle at that point for a horse, you "own" a horse, so it's not stealing, you even have the ability to loot it or put items in it's saddle, which means it's not a stolen horse, and use it to ram them off. i've beaten that first cuman like once or twice fairly out of dozens atmepts, even than, it required luck, and potion afterwards.
an other method of killing the cumans there, which nowadays i kill like 20 cumans at that point, is by running into them using the horse.
the problem with black peter:
before womans lot dlc (i believe it was patch 1.9.2) battle mechanics were very very good, after patch 1.9.3, they added bugs and new mechanics which makes peter a problem.
the bug is that when the npc tries to do the combo blunt strike with a short weapon, we can't master strike the stab.(the first hit)
surprise surprise, it becomes a problem with a poisond short sword....
also, black peter from time to time glitches and becomes immune to melee weapons dmg. which sucks, i showed on stream how i fight him for 30 minutes
the main problem with how you fight black peter is that you use slashes with the sword you have, the answer is face stab. he has an open helmet, just stab and pull the cursor up while you're at it after a master strike, it will crush him.
I think if you have the marigold decocion effect before getting poisoned the posion lasts only like 15-20 seconds which would help alot
4:15 THAT WAS HOW YOUR SUPPOSED TO DO IT???
There's a few ways. You can either steal a guard uniform and sneak out, get money from Stephanie and bribe the guard, jump down the moat and escape, or if you get arrested any time in Talmberg they just kick you out so you get out regardless. Take your pick
對付競技輸掉報復的黑傑克,就轉身往家跑,跑到叔叔給你鏟子的拖車,跳上去!然後….. 用箭慢慢射😢
There's a few ways to do it. Across this playthrough I was trying to avoid glitching the game out by abusing game mechanics such as fighting from carts or getting on rooftops
For kunesh debt money. After he says no. You can basically just talk to father and he’ll give you the groschen you need for charcoal.
19:30 what the hell is a "horsh race"?
I'm sure if you REALLY think about long and hard you can probably figure it out. Best of luck, I believe in you!
You do not understand what honor is
Thank you for your kind words!
tournament rewards are allowed?
They were but I didn't want to exploit it too much. Used the bets with Peshek twice and the prize money from Hanush but not the Lords of Leipa pieces. Happy balance
I've barely beat the game with cheats and mods and it was a lot harder than what you're doing.
Yeah the game can definately be brutal 😄
If you don't talk to Karl, you can take the items directly from the chest while they are sleeping
Still have to lockpick the chest. Breaks the rules either way
Bro, this is not the tittle, if you buy someting its not a "only rewards"
The gold you get is also quest rewards.....I didn't name it "using only the gear i get from quests". Try again...
@@Griff_Gaming yea the gold is a reward, but the armor or weapons you buy it not. This is only a normal gameplay
It's bought with gold given by quest rewards. Have you actually played this game?? I'm curious because it doesn't really sound like you have....
Subscribed!
Thank you!
Couldn't you use the stash hidden in the river instead of dice?
Yes but they are bandits and dice appear as quest items so it doesn't break the looting policy
Bro that bandit at the 17 minute mark is literally just an anime protagonist, got his ass kicked by the villain and had a deathbed powerup
He definately had a power level over 9000 for that second encounter lol
@@Griff_GamingGreat vid will be checking out more. God I hope we get a KCD 2 announcement soon, this one was super jank at times but still so good. Few games have made me feel so immersed...just don't look at the people spawning inside each other, they're not real, they can't hurt you(they might don't touch them, don't perceive them ever)
