Ion wanna get all technical with it but I feel as if the issue with the usual approach of the SCP workers is that they tend to appose and challenge his delusion, which you should never do when working with someone with a delusion. Neither should you agree and play along with it, the trick is to ask questions along the way to let the SCP give you more information and establish trust and still learn more. By not directly challenging the delusion, you establish that you're not just like 'everyone one else' who never believes him. He has set up in his mind that it is him against the world, you also don't risk him thinking you have the pestilence and... Yk... What usually follows...
