Holy shit, an actual adult explaining how to play a Warlock spec without rambling or mumbling through everything at 1,000mph as if everyone has played the class for 20 years and doesn't need a nice, concise, slow breakdown of why things happen the way they do and how to take advantage of the various talent procs.
@@TwoAngryFrogshonestly though, I’ve been playing since BC first came out and just never had any interest in playing a lock😂 well now as I’m on my 6th 80 I figured why not! And they are a different beast then every class
@@smg7244 They are for sure. For me the hardest thing to get used to as compared the Hunter was having to stand still to cast almost anything. So the timing of spells is a lot more critical so you are not constantly interrupting your spell casts.
I just started a warlock alt and found your video while trying to learn. Let me say I absolutely love that you show different playstyles that while they may not maximize DPS, offer viable alternative playstyles to help keep things fun!
You don't need to cast cataclysm to maintain wither. It's an instant cast spell and havoc can apply it to save a global. The opposite talent to cataclysm is inferno which reduces the cost of rain of fire to 2 shards which makes it better for Aoe so you can keep building stacks of wither.
@justinmccray5014 Thanks for the comment! Agreed you can go either way. Inferno drives a lot more Rain of Fire casts. For AoE, Cataclysm is just an easier way to apply Wither to all enemies at once. Otherwise you need to individually DoT them outside of any Havocs.
@jayjackson3836 Thanks for the comment! In the following video (th-cam.com/video/TUbCumFFpPs/w-d-xo.html) I talk about keybindings and at the 9:00 mark there is an overlay that shows the actual keys. I use the same setup for all characters as far as where the keys are mapped into the actions bars.
I love the playstyle of Hellcaller - I find using the Cataclysm + Malevolence + Channel Hellfire combo on a pack of mobs so visually sarisfying and intuitive - but Diabolist does so much more damage, so quickly and so easily, that I don't feel I can play Hellcaller. I miss Channel Demonfire. 💔
@ricknose Thanks for the comment! You can also play Channel Demonfire with Diabolist. For my Warlock it is about 2% DPS loss if I take Channel Demonfire over Shadowburn. For open world content and just running around the world, that is not really a big difference.
Good guide overall, but I'd really like see a comparison of the two bottom-spec-tree talents "Chaos Incarnate" vs "Power Overwhelming". Both buff your Mastery but in different ways, and seem to be the only two optional nodes in the lower spec tree. Which is better? You've taken PO in your builds, but what's the math/theorycraft there?
@5133937 Thanks for the comment! For me I could probably go either way. There is only about a 3K DPS difference (less than 0.5%) between the two for my current gear, enchants, and so on. Chaos Incarnate only affects Chaos Bolt, Shadowburn, and Rain of Fire, whereas Power Overwhelming affects all spells cast. I would say of you are running Channel Demonfire over Shadowburn, that may definitely lean toward PO since you would not be getting anything from CI for Shadowburn. Honestly, there are so many variables in sims that I consider all talent recommendations as guidelines. They are definitely not hard in concrete "you have to do this". There are some talents like that just because they are so much better than others, but like you point out, PO and CI can be interchanged at times depending on the character.
great vid - with big aoe packs using M+ Diabolist build without Cataclysm, when would I cast / weave in immolates on additional targets as opposed to using shard aoe spenders / builders?
@thegreekgeek7113 Thanks! It is a lot more difficult in AoE just because it requires multiple casts in between looking to spam Rain of Fire as much as possible. In the video starting at 10:18 and 10:40 you'll see I am weaving them in by Tab targeting to spread across as many enemies as possible. So it really is a timing thing when you are in the process of trying to build Soul Shards for more Rain of Fire. Hope that helps!
@vonweaveygaming Thanks for the question! You are more or less weaving them in. You will want to fire one if you are sitting on 2 charges or if the action button lights up indicating it will be a critical hit. Shadowburn does damage on par with Chaos Bolt but only costs 1 Shard instead of the 2 for Chaos Bolt. But it comes with the cooldown so unlike Chaos Bolt you will sometimes have to wait to cast it.
I love the simplicity of destruction. I don’t think specs needs a two page rotation to be fun. The new visuals is a perfect example of “simple” yet fun gameplay in my opinion.
@michaelkjr3415 100% agree. I love the visuals of Destro (especially Diabolist) and it changes things up just enough to feel a bit different from Dragonflight.
@blacksunaccounts Thanks for the question. I personally do not since losing the and having to resummon is more DPS loss than you gain from sacrificing.
@SabinAlbei Thanks for the comment! Yeah you want to keep these from sitting on 2 charges. if you know you are going to need to move some you can hold on to a charge of Shadowburn so you have another instant cast while moving. For Conflagrate you get the Soul Shard generation when cast to help in keeping all of your other abilities going. It is also an instant cast you can use while on the move.
@@TwoAngryFrogs hello, thank you very much for the reply, but do I cast both of them? both charges? or do I only cast one charge, and leave one remaining? maybe now I am clearer in the question, so play with one standing, or cast both 2 Shadowburn , 2 Conflagrate into cooldown? I am trying to learn what procs backdraft and what procs eradication also to keep them up as much as possible I installed WeakAuras and imported the most used "best" HUD, it don't think it is optimal for me, I just want basic information on procs not too much clutter besides my Hekili, but i fell I will learn it anyway, and I know I was missing a lot maybe in the rotation, because I had a raid and underperformed, but now I got my gear up, and now I am doing as much research as possible.
