Great job, one of the best rebuilds I have see so far. I enjoy watching all your videos ,I can't wait to see the finished product. I just finished rebuilding my dad's mk1 gt, now I'm going to start on my mk1 gt which I bought about four years ago .watching you build your car motivates me to get started on my car .I'm from south Africa and the mk1 cortina is a much loved car by many here, but they seemed to be only a few left now.so I'm going to hold on very tight on my mk1 gt. Thanks Jim take care...

      Hi Desigen,
Thank you - I really appreciate it. That sounds awesome anout yours and your dad's Cortinas. I'd be interested hearing more about them, i know what you mean about keeping onto your mk1 though!
Good luck getting yours back on the road!
      Jim

Good job, don't forget the inlet manifold support that bolts from the inlet manifold to the engine mount.

      Hi Brian,
I have it on standby, the manifolds were placed onto the head so I could check the flatness of the mating faces.
      Thanks for getting in touch
      Jim

      Thanks Stephen,
You'll need a 1/2" spanner for the bolts but I'd recommend checking the flatness of the manifold- I made a video on that as I had a similar problem.

      Thanks Alan,
It's been overbored to 1590cc with an A1 cam, bottom end is factory parts but balanced.
The head has been ported and polished by myself but otherwise standard. I'm not sure what sort of power it will make but thr majority of the changes I've made were due to how much work was required to recondition the engine opposed to performance

Were the mk1 engines green ? Is that a criossflow gt exhaust ?

They were green but its a darker shade, I couldn't get an exact match because there seems to be some confusion what shade of green it is. So I went British racing green as it's an off the shelf mix should I need to get more.
The manifold is a pre crossflow GT as standard but they look similar to the crossflow manifolds.
