Nick isn't JUST "ignoring" Larry here, he's _acknowledging_ his existence by responding whenever Larry calls for him, but _expressing_ it's invalidity by calling for Maya anyway. I’ve got a crazy theory that Larry’s (or yahari’s) English name is only Larry Butz because in the original Japanese, the saying at Phoenix and Larry’s school was “yahari Yahari,” or, “of course it’s Yahari.” The pun obviously didn’t work in English, so they made his last name Butz and changed the saying to “If something smells, it’s usually the Butz.”
