NOTE: to improve even more mail reliability, make sure you set the rdns also for the ipv6 address, the same way you do for ipv4.

I opened up a support ticket at Linode, because what you've explained has been my problem for many days.
I couldn't send mails or they couldn't be deliverd.

Thanks for a great tututorial, I was wondering about how good it is compared to Cpanel, and I see its fully fledged, without licensing fees. Do you know if it can be set with dns load balancing. So I can have dns on linode and fall back dns on another provider like digital ocean or vultr, or another linode instance?

Hi Ermanno and peeps. I followed this tutorial to the letter and at the part when I'm typing in my domain name to check if the Wordpress blog loads, it says it can't find the site. I even have Namecheap so I entered the nameservers as instructed. Is there a missing piece of the puzzle here, like adding A records into Namecheap? Good tutorial as always

Thank you for great tutorial. I have a question... there is only one reverse dns entry possible (most likely name of first domain). Will this be an issue for mail server when connecting multiple domains to vps server?

That's difficult as I don't have other accounts or domains by other registrars.

which smpt port is good for mail server and how to get that port. As you define, we need to contact customer support to open the port 25. Incase, i wanna use port 465 smtp port then how can i get that and how can we use that...

I do have one issue however, I followed every step in detail, but email I am sending is constantly going in spam folder on gmail side... Maybe you have some idea? I followed every step, tryed a lot of things, even register fresh domain... Thanks!
Thanks for the feedback! Make sure reverse dns is correctly set and check you mail spamminess by mailtester. It will tell you where you can improve. Also, if you just created the server, it might take up to 48 hours for the dns records to fully propagate.
@@eflinux Thanks for the reply! This must be an interesting topic, I think a lot of people have the same issue, I searched for the solution online but impossible to find a clear solution. RDNS ok, every mail tester is giving me 10/10 score, email is delivered ok on other servers (mail.com...) but not on gmail! Only the gmail seems to have some issues. Very frustrating! I will wait 48 hrs to test again... Many thanks and kind regards!

Usually it's done at VPS level.

Great Tutorial !, thank you very much. I have a problem, I do all the steps as is, I receive emails but they do not come out, for some reason it does not send emails, this happens to me in amazon ec2 but it is because of the blocking of port 25, the same thing happens here?
That’s because as I say in the video, Linode is blocking smtp ports by default. You’ll have to contact Linode support so that they can open them.
How about dkim and spf? My messages are going to the spam

Currently I'm having a problem, I cant login to webmail as its states authentication failed. Although I could log in to admin rainloop just fine. Would you know why?
Probably you need to issue the mail SSL again.

Probably mail SSL misconfiguration. You should regenerate it in CP.
Very good video. Didn't expect an it pro to install WP. Hopefully the nooks don't install as it is one of the top attack vectors. Yes websites should be maintained with security updates but WP is not a good site to start with...
I think for a personal website it's OK. I've seen mid size businesses using it as well. Another story for bigger companies, nevertheless it definitely needs to be maintened very often.

Can you please specify which customer support I should contact? Is it Linode's? And if I say, "Can you please open my ports for my mail server?" would they understand my request or what additional information should I provide?

In your Linode panel you have an account option on the left bottom panel. There you can contact support.

That's another approach, which will probably work as well :)
Turns out cyberpanel block port 8090... Just thought I'd share my findings for anyone else interested in the same thing.
I did realise however that in the video you set the rdns for your server as the root domain. However, if you see at 20:24 the smtp server is using the mail.eflinx.xyz subdomain. Does this matter? Or should the rdns match the smtp server domain.
That’s odd. Usually 8090 should be open. I didn’t encounter this problem. The mail server is given by CP. Usually it always starts with mail. Important thing is to ask Linode to open smtp ports otherwise sending mails won’t work.
@@eflinux i'm using digital ocean for my VPS, so I do not believe this is necessary. Nevertheless I have everything set up. 10/10 on mail-tester.com and yet any emails sent to gmail go to spam. May have to throw in the towel.
It might take up to 48 hours for the dns records to propagate correctly and get your server a higher score.

Great video! What if I have multiple sites in CP? How do you set up the multiple email accounts since Linode only allows you to set one rDNS value?
There is probably easier to point the domain to Linode name servers and manage the domains from there.

It really depends on the registrar, but you should look up Linode name servers first. Then you would add them to your registrar. This way you can manage your domain directly with Linode.

I use Namecheap. I know how to point the NS to Linode, it's more about how I set up the various domains to in Linode to work with CyberPanel's different websites and email accounts. Thanks
It's difficult to do a guide in the comments. I might do a video on that in the future, however, until then, Linode documentation is pretty good in clearing up that kind of setup too. Thanks for your understanding.
Getting error while using SMTP - tried with all port.
587 - The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure.
465 - The operation has timed out.
25 - Transaction failed. The server response was: 5.7.1 : Relay access denied

Is it recommended to host your own email server or to use a third party email provider like Gsuite or Zoho mail?
How much will it affect the performance of a wordpress website?
Let me try to answer, as far as I am concerned, hosting your email is better if you use email providers like GSuite, because hosting your own email can use more resources, although it's free.
how can i enable email in digital ocean
I'm confused. if you choose "cyberpanel" from the application (disk image?), why do you have to manually install it again from the command line?
If you choose to install it from the image, you don't have to do that. I didn't install from the image, I installed manually.
@@eflinux True, I actually tried both ways. I failed on both in the first few attempts, until I installed CP from the Linode Marketplace. Little did I know, it took quite a long time until the installation finished (which I couldn't see, because it's done by Linode, not on my terminal, so I couldn't see the progress.). After 15-20 minutes, the installation was done, and finally I could start using CyberPanel.

I'd ask customer support to open them. Even you changed them, chances are the VPS will block them anyway.

But they have politics to keep them closed on data centre (hardware) level and there is no option to open them on a VPS level.
I have setup everything as per the video and yet when I cant login to rainloop email. Even the admin rainloop account cannot login... After I press login, an error is shown that says "Authentication Failed". Do you have any fixes regarding this.
That is probably because the SSL for the mail server needs to be reconfigured. In the panel settings you can select Mail SSL, select the domain and reinstall the SSL certificate.

You have to ask Linode support to open the SMTP ports, otherwise it will not work.
Is Cyberpanel similar to CPanel (or ISPConfig)?
They are webhosting panel, however, unlike CyberPanel and ISPConfig, cPanel are paid.

Most likely you need to reconfigure the mail server ssl.
I am resigning mails but can't sending I have checked in email queue and I have seen that deferred error how can we solve?
You need to ask Linode to open the SMTP ports otherwise it will not work, as I mentioned in the video.

Been trying to do this but installation fails at Installing Wordpress with the error: Installation failed. Error message: [404]. When I view the files. The Wordpress files are there but the website is not working. On trying to reach the website on browser it brings: Error establishing a Database connection. Any help would be appreciated
Something went wrong with the WP installer. Try again by deleting the existing installation. If that does not work I’d suggest you ask the CP developers on their forum.

For sending you have to contact Linode support, they have to open the smtp ports for you. For receiving, make sure rdns is set properly.

For that you’ll have to probably use another kind of mail server.
i wonder how you managed to sent mail successfully to a gmail email... mine goes to spam folder and even I am setup dkim, dns records etc etc on cyberpanel, still low score on mail-tester and spam on gmail....
It takes usually up to 48 hours for dns records to propagate and give you a better result in mail tester as well. Probably it also depends on your domain authority, meaning how your domain is rated by Google and Co.

At DigitalOcean you need to set up personal DNS, then you can manage zones in CyberPanel.

Make sure you set the redirect to https in cyberpanel.

Probably the ssl certificate is expired. Try issuing a new one for the domain.

I wanted to know if it is convenient to have two different CyberPanel panels, one for the websites side and a specific one for email management so they are separate and weigh less or if it is not convenient and it is better to use a single panel on both the web and mail side.

It really depends on how heavy you'll use your server. A lot of emails will put load on dovecot/imap, so you'll have to see how it's your usage.

Does freenom/dot.tk have private dns?

@@eflinux From what I know (I have like 3 domains on freenom) they have an option to use their freenom DNS and cpnfigure the records there or put in the ns1 and ns2 address

I had a problem with dual boot windows/any Linux whenever I remove Linux from dual boot my drive just corrupt and say there is no os to boot in this drive drive has no partition I did some search but everyone says that it's problem of cable or our drive is a garbage now but when I install windows from usb it's just as ok and then I can dual boot it but it's a bit annoying to install everything all data is erased can you help me with this sorry I'm a little off from this topic but it just irritates me whenever I have to remove Linux thanks help needed a reply would be appreciable
