They force against the bench would equal the force on the tenon. No worry about the front of bench bowing out. I would worry more about the skinny tenon failing. BTW, I've really enjoyed your videos.
A complete "V" groove in the the chop with the 1/4" flat on the mating surface makes for a better fit and ease if installation, a slight taper to the base of the tennon with the flat on the top again ,makes for a better fit. You are doing it backwards.
Молодец! добавил себе в Избранное. Всё гениальное на поверхности, сам может и не догадался использовать вкладыш да ещё и с тисками, спасибо и привет из Москвы!
Ok, why is rubber cement a no no for the leather to wood bond? It is the glue of choice in all leather working applications. Hide glue makes sense as well. I am coming up on the stage of building my deadman and this video confirms my plan to do it will work. Thanks for the great video! Cheers
Hide glue, and PVA are more easily removed than rubber cement. Eventually the leather wears out and needs replacing. That's when you appreciate glue that's easily removed.
Best bench building series I've seen. I've watched them all. Fantastic built bench. Really enjoy your videos. Thank You for sharing.

What is the report on this sliding vice after a year and a half? It seems like it would be very helpful, but I'm curious to hear your assessment.
