Stain and polyurethane usually do it for me. A nicely crafted engine. I am amazed at how easily it starts. Looking forward to your next project.

Painting requires a cardboard box for overspray, a 20 dollar sprayer, and excellent results. Fantastic projects I enjoyed it

I have used that technique before - don't really know why I didn't use spray cans for this job...
      Anyway thanks for your comment.

Gday Alan, your engine looks fantastic, I honestly think that when I built my 2 there was roughly 80hrs in each and I certainly made quite a few parts more then once to get the correct, there’s a fair bit of time in making the fixtures and jigs too that you don’t plan on at the start and making the mounting box was certainty the part I didn’t enjoy at all, this was a great series to follow and looking forward to seeing what you build next, cheers

Thanks Matty. I don't think I would have had the patience to build two Websters :) What really surprised me about the engine is how easily it starts with the simple vapour carburetor, and how little vibration there is. I had a Honda CB175 twin (circa 1970) that vibrated far more than the Webster - vibration was so bad the pillion passenger's feet keep walking off the foot pegs. I've also had single cylinder lawn mowers that vibrated much more. The chap who worked out the balanced shape for the crankshaft throw must have really nailed it.
      Cheers.

She runs very sweetly indeed. Certainly one to be proud of. I've thoroughly enjoyed the videos and look forwards to the next engine.
I'm rubbish with a paint brush too! I always use spray cans. Automotive shops will do a clear varnish, if you fancy trying that approach.

That's a nice outcome Alan, I like the mount. Will it stay in the shed or take pride of place on the mantle piece? Cheers Steve O

Thanks Steve. My better 3/4 isn't into this sort of thing but I might try to sneak it into the study :)
      Cheers.

I dont like wood beavering and painting should only be done from a spraygun.
I do like the result and particularly how easy it starts and how well it runs.

One good thing about "wood beavering" is no tiny metal splinters - but there's nothing that I like about painting.
I bought a spray gun ages ago but I don't like how much solvent is needed for cleaning - its a big overhead for small jobs.
If I do anything else like this I'll brush sealer on to fill the grain, sand it, apply stain and then use spray cans of clear.
      Thanks for your comment.
      Cheers.
PS: Have you made any chips with the Mazak yet ?

@@alanshomeworkshop Unfortunatly constant rain and soft ground has meant transport delays.... its a sore point.
