Food cooked outdoors over a fire always tastes great ! The water that You threw out has some nutrients and good taste as well. In a house You could keep it for stock. Outdoors or indoors You don't want to burn the food .

We don't have stones in this part of the country, only flint. Flint explodes when heated. The leaves were wet. We don't get big forest fires here as it's so hard to burn anything in this climate. We need very dry hot summers before we worry about that.
