Decidedly, I will never like the sound of bronze strings ... For an electroacoustic bass, I prefer the Flatwounds Stainless Stell Strings or the Black Nylon ... 😏
I just bought this model a couple of weeks ago. My first acoustic bass and my first proper fretless. Luckily my local shop fitted flatwounds and slightly lowered the action. It’s a lovely thing to play and learn new techniques on. I’m pretty chuffed with it. It seems like it maybe kind of fragile when it comes to taking knocks to the body so I invested in a heavily padded gig bag.
@@duendedude2345 I didn’t notice much of a difference in before and after so I assume he wasn’t able to get much but I’m happy with how it is. It wasn’t something I requested him to do. If i have to play hard for volume or expression, low action can rattle sometimes.
Cheers. I was looking at those nylon core flat wound strings and they're over 60 quid. Do you reckon they are a big jump from the 'traditional' flatwounds as far as achieving that honky double bass tone?
@@big-smoke-rc used the nylon wound strings many years ago on fretless because I figured there would be less wear on the fingerboard but they are too expensive, so now use steel flat wounds. I prefer round wounds on fretted bass. Regarding sound, I don’t think nylon strings are essential for a more upright bass sound.
You’re right. It sounds pretty bad. Why didn’t you review with the flats on instead of telling us how bad the wire wounds are? Thanks for the description otherwise.

Mine doesn't seem to have much scope for lowering the action, but I may try taking it down a little.

Please more videos with the Rotosound Flatwound strings!
Planning on it. Thanks for your interest.

Thank you for this
My pleasure!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Great stuff!!
you think the piskup would work with electric flatwounds? thanks
Of Course, I have electric flat wounds on this bass now.
Wrong strings need nylonwounds prefferably from d'addario.

See my videos playing Indian raga on this bass. I had then changed to flat wounds.
Sounds a lot like a resonator guitar
Sounds cheap and crappy.
Terrible
