Wonderful lecture by Prof.Raabe! If I may ask Prof. Bhadeshia, what is your view on the imminent green transition of the steel industry? How do you think the forthcoming drastic changes in the extractive metallurgy sector will affect alloy and process design? In a physical metallurgy sense, our quest for designing alloys with both longevity and enhanced properties-for example, as you mentioned in your recent talk about the use of micro-alloyed steel in construction applications-how do you see it affected by the necessity of scrap/impurity-tolerant alloy design?
The two approaches are different in the sense that Professor Raabe focuses on research based on fundamental understanding, which is obviously important. My approach, that you referred to, does not require any research or development, simply good design, and promises a 25% reduction in steel consumption over the next four years. Regarding impurities, each case has to be assessed on an individual basis, and the role of the impurity.
Excellent talk , comprehensive summary
Glad you enjoyed it.
This is an awaited video for me. I really expected this recent subject in your channel. Thanks for sharing. Need more from you on green steel.
The thanks really go to Professor Raabe.

Great presentation by Dierk Raabe. Interesting to learn if the Industry will follow not only with the Project in Northern Sweden👍
