I am 5'6" and a fit to muscular 158lbs. I wear a medium in most shirts. Great review and overview of tees. I like the fit of the Everlane Oraganic tee shirts, in medium, but the material is thinner than I like and the collar does not hold up well. I have an Ash & Erie, size large, The A&E is great quality and heavier than the Everlane, but it is a boxy, unflattering cut. I was surprised by the poor fit as my Ash & Erie polo is my favorite polo. One you didn't mention is Express; I wear a medium and they fit very well, not too long.
thanks for sharing your experiences with those brands. there was a reason for not mentioning express, even their smallest size ran really long on me, though if you're slightly taller than me, it could be a good length.

which of these shirts shrink ? I usually dry on high heat.
The issue I have is most brand’s mediums are too tight in the shoulders, arms and chest but are good on length. If I go up to a large they’re either too long or too boxy/loose in the mid section. I’m 5’ 7” and weigh around 185-190 lbs. I’ve got broad shoulders and a slim waist. Although it’s not a t-shirt I would wear for a night out, the Under Armour t-shirts with just the logo on the left side of the chest fit me perfectly in a size medium. However, it it’s one of their graphic t-shirts it’s too tight. They both say they’re the same material and same fit yet they fit completely different. If they’d just remove the logo from the left chest and the small one right below the neck on the back it would be the perfect casual t-shirt for me. With spring and summer coming up I’m about to order a bunch of different t-shirts from different brands because my options in my closet for a plain t-shirt that actually fits are zero.

I am considering the Ash & Erie shirt. I am 5'7" and 142lb slim but fit. I have long legs and arms, short torso. Looking at the XS on you it kind of looks long. Do you think I should get XS?
it's not long on me at all. i'd say you should get the size S...IMO

@@aey2579 They have a size finder which is quite accurate. I'd use that but I am usually recommended a Small-short/regular or Medium-short depending on the garment

Any recs (other than losing weight) to find a T that isn't too long? I'm the same height, but 35-40lbs heavier. Don't look pudgy, just have 'heavier bones' as they say. I definitely cannot fit into XS or even S, can maybe get away with a Medium depending on brand. Often have to compensate by getting Large which is often too long or wide on my frame. Any suggestions?

As a 5'3" guy, I don't have trouble finding short sleeve shirts that work -- it's the long sleeve shirts that are an issue.
Uniqlo shirts from japan have noticeably shorter sleeves ratio

They are all nice but I can't see spending 30 for 1 tshirt
with the price of apparel these days, $30 tees are pretty standard
