Here in the Philippines, there is a variety of fruit we call Marang which is like the cross between Durian and Jackfruit. It is also smelly and taste a bit like durian but the peal is similar to jackfruit.

Sorry to say...marang is not a cross between durian and jackfruit , it's cross between Jack fruit tree and wild jack tree
I hope I have a chance to try then I can comment on this. I planned to go to Philippines last year, still have credits from flights.

Jackfruit we called 'Ka-Noon', also we have 'Cempadak' which looks similar and we eat both of them :)

Jackfruit is the winner. Durian stinks so if you eat it you might stink as well

I think that's Cempadak, it's different than jackfruit.
