Accents change surprisingly fast. 3 years talking to and hearing Americans non stop will give you an accent.

You either adapt to the slang and accent of your peers, or you'll be the odd ball out. I know from experience, I moved to the states when I was 13 too...that was 10 years ago and if you hear me talk, you'd think I was born and raised in this country
