You were significant in making Zen Core and Zenology clear to consumers. Basically Roland is bringing subscribers behind the curtain of their history of sound design capabilities and allowing access to those tools, along with cross platform integration and convenience. ✌🏾

Now they need to bring the full Zenology Pro thing with all the vintage models to iOS/iPad OS as a standalone AUv3 compatible app. That would be huge.

Overall, I love the Roland Cloud and Zenology Pro is a great addition.I have always loved Roland sounds. My only problem with Zenology Pro is that, as far as I can tell, these pcm's are the same samples from the JV & XV series. These are 20+ year-old samples!! You can really hear it in the drum sounds. I hope Roland is planning to add a bank of newly sampled instruments. The pianos and brass still layer nicely, but as a solo sound some of them sound outdated. Especially when you consider that the JV-1080 & XV-5080 are already available, at some point, I want to hear a 21st century Roland synth sound. All that said, I'm still happy 😊 and I will definitely be using Zenology a lot!

I'm struggling to find a way to import user samples, other than to sample into my MC707. This would be the way to get around all these dated samples, but i can't figure out how to get MY samples into the VST?

  • @memoraphile3623

Yeeeeeeeeee boi. I've gone from not knowing what Zenology was when i first got the cloud subscription to the instrument i reach for 98% of the time when using plugins. I initially thought it was maybe something similar to Concerto, but just a sampler plate to entice you to get a subscription or something. Eventually found out i was so wrong and this thing is now hands down my favorite soft synth bar none and obtained that spot so very quickly.

    • @memoraphile3623
      @memoraphile3623 4 ปีที่แล้ว

It's also really awesome that the PCM has the expansion cards along with the internals too. I have a JV-2080 and I love that i can mix PCMs from my sr-jv80 cards with the internal PCMs to make patches, and that's something the JV-1080 and XV-5080 plugins are missing, being that the SRXs are all separate plugins.

This looks ace and I agree that editing on iPad would rule. So far the zencore is rocking it on my Mac. The only cloud plugin so far that sounds weird is the 303, but the others sound pretty amazing. I am exited for this being in more hardware too. Cheers and good info.

Thanks for the insight vid! Learned some new stuff. Though I'm trying to figure out how to control midi / assign cc's to the MFX section. Or create automations to control MFX parameters. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be an option. I hope Roland would allow this on an update.

This is just my dream for years. Only one thing is little bit sad and not about Zenology. I got Integra 7 in my studio and now all srx that I love can be installed as vst. Its amazing but I still got hardware that make less sense already. But Zenology Pro and all Analog Icons just damn stunning.

Hi, do you know if I can use Zenology, or any of the softwares of the Roland Cloud with my basic arranger Roand E-X20A? I´ve just bought the Pro license and I, m testing it on Cakewalk. Many plugins of RC opens in it, including Zenology, but I, m still trying to use it with my keyboard via MIDI as a controller. I don´t know if Zenology can be used with my keyboard. Would love to know about it. I, m a begginer in the world of the keyboards. Thanks!

It's disappointing to see that they don't have all the technology from the V-Synth GT in there like Vocal designer and AP-synthesis. I've never seen PCM sync in a synthesizer before but I can do that in a Steinberg's Padshop 2.

Absolutely would like a video on using Zenology Pro with the MC 101.😃
I have an MC 101 and would like to know whether to get the Zenology Pro to go with it.
Question - would I need to purchase a lifetime key to download into the MC 101?
And if so what would it cost? Tried to find out on the Roland website but only found subscription cost of $99 per year.

I wish an end-game Arpeggiator (Arpie, Midicake Arp or NDLR) was included in Zenology Pro instead of treating the Arp per synth or even no Arp depending on the hardware (like GM-800). A full featured Arp with steps, gate, tied gate, accents etc is an amazing tool, even on hi hats. Plus Arps are a huge part of synth history but sadly, they’re limited or missing from the ZenCore experience for many of us. It’s real bummer - no?

Thanks so much for explaining Zenology Pro!
I still have so many questions though.... And Roland is really bad at explaining how things work.
Is it possible to share/exchange your own Zenology Pro patches with other people? Or are they 'signed' to your license?
Can I load sounds from Roland Soundpacks in Zenology Pro and tweak/change them to my liking?
And what if my license for those Soundpacks runs out, but I still have that sound on my MC707?
So much unclear about how all of this works.. :-/

I have a Jupiter Xm and while I can access all the vintage models, I haven’t yet determined how to access the full Z-Core engine in it. Someone, if not Roland, should make a video about this. Or they should make it easy to build an init scene and tone with full Z-Core engine.

    • @pcostanza

I believe it’s the model they call XV-5080 on the Jupiter Xm. In the reference manual, it says “XV-5080, RD Piano, and other tones” and you also have access to the virtual analog partials there.
