My Dad's twin brother was a huge supporter of Boys Town. He didn't go through the program, but he mentored younger boys when he was a teen. Their mother had died, and his heart went out to them. My grandparents sent their many boys to help the widower and his boys. The widower had married quite late in life, but his boys were quite young when their mother died. I guess he wasn't able to keep up with all the chores, and his boys were too young to pitch in. The boys all grew up to be flourishing members of the community, and they remembered my uncle with great fondness and gratitude. I think that's why Uncle Dan was drawn to support Boys Town. He saw firsthand how important it is to step in and mentor young kids in rough circumstances.
Such a much needed project in a world (including our society), where more & more children are neglected and without love, structure or even consequences. Jonathan always uses his platform and voice to represent so many children- Right to Life, sponsoring children abroad, this documentary, etc. I’m grateful that this message will be available in theaters. Praying that gets public support.
Yes, this is fine. Great. But Mr. Roumie wants to be a saint and cannot take the slightest criticism even from one in good will. Has he read the saints' stories? St Teresa of Avila went before the Inquisition and had to argue her way out of being burnt at the stake. St. John of the Cross was beaten and incarcerated in his own monastery, St. Nektarios of Aegina was thrown out of his initial seminary-monastery. And Mr. Roumie acts as if he is going to roll into sainthood in a limousine with millions of fans and adorers.

Growing up I remember my dad always sent money to Boys Town...
Me too.

My bias is that the concern for poverty is being lauded by a man worth millions.
This is about Father Flanagan, that's it!
