On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you prefer more up close and personal dogfights consider the IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battle series and experience intense WWII aerial combat over famous battlefields such as Stalingrad, Moscow, Rhineland and Normandy. Fight in and against Russian, American, German, British warbirds such as the P-51 Mustang, P-47 Thunderbolt, Bf-109, FW-190, Spitfire, Hurricane and rugged IL-2 Sturmovik attack plane. You can also fly legendary SPADS, Fokkers and Camels in WWI dogfights over the trenches of WWI and discover your inner Red Baron! And all of this can be experienced in jaw dropping virtual reality!
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. That's probably the closest damn duel I've ever seen between two aircraft. Not often you see a single round go more than five minutes a pop, a wonderful display.

From the look of it, it seems like the Rafale kept most of the strengths of the Mirage while also gaining some new abilities. I'm a big fan of Dassault, so it's nice to see you do fights with the Rafale.
I'm curious how much of the Rafale's abilities were holdovers from when France was still part of the Eurofighter program, before they pulled out to pursue the Rafale's development.
I didn't notice during the fight, but during the slo-mo replay at 5:30, you can see that the Rafale pilot had long since ejected, while GS was still debating whether or not to blast the jet again again to make sure it was dead.

I'd like to see some 2v1 and 1v2 dog fight breakdowns. I can tell you're searching for ways to keep BFM relevant and this would mix it up beyond playing "spin the dissimilar air wheel of fortune". You could do offensive and defensive setups also. Group BVR would also be awesome to watch even if the Amraam isn't what we wish it was.
To my knowledge the Eurofighter has a better thrust-to-weight ratio and is better for air-to-air whereas the Rafale has better multirole capabilities and has better ECM and Electronic Warfare capabilities.
I think the claim that the Eurofighter is superior at air to air is just more of a marketing claim against the Rafale.
Personal, I think both the Rafale and Eurofighter are close to evenly matched in the air to air Arena

Tried to beat that mission around twenty times with a variety of different aircraft (including the F-22) and failed...until I used the Rafale. Flew it a few more times after that and realized it's a great aircraft.
Ofcourse, Ace Combat is nothing like DCS in terms of realism, but I have a special fondness for the Rafale 😃

Eurofighter is outright superior to the Rafale in real life, and the F-22 is a generation ahead. Rafale is still great though
@@kinggeorgewows9695 I don’t know what would make you say that. Euro fighter is a more powerful aircraft while Rafale is a more balanced one aligned with the Dassault philosophy.
If we look at their oppositions in exercises the rafale came out on top always (but that was dogfighting). And it’s also probably because it is a better born aircraft and it didn’t struggle like the EF did in its evolution. As a consequence pilots in Rafale have more flight time and thus more training than pilots in EF. Both aircraft at max potential are probably quite comparable and it’s good that they are on the same side.
From a possibility of evolution it seems that the rafale is more upgradable and was thought with that in mind whereas evolution in the EF has always been slowed by different interests of different economic partners.
Rafale is also a more reliable platform and availability rate is much higher than the EF, all of this can explain partly why it has been winning markets recently (of course there is a political aspect to this).
@@kinggeorgewows9695 not necessarily, from what I've heard, low speed and ground attack favors the Rafale while high speed, high alt A2A favors the Typhoon

==> LOL, the WELL-KNOWN fact is that it is, overall, the exact opposite, as piwo reminded. I say "overall" because a few specifications of the EF are superior: its thrust-to-weight ratio, hence a slightly higher rate of climb, its top speed and its service ceiling.

This comes from a person that spent much of his time in 90s in flight sims like Chuck Yeager's Air Combat, F-19, Falcon 3.0 and 4.0 or Jane's F/A-18. @@oggearhound2242 Somehow never played WW2 flight sims, but I have some great memories from Red Baron 1 and 2. Now playing mostly on consoles and flight sims are nonexistent there, unfortunately.
F-19 back in the 80's I loved it
I always was more of either the chopper sims (Apache and Commanche) or the space sims (Wing Commander & Tie Fighter), but I always loved Chuck Yeager's!

@@HIP-wv8nu you can’t really say a ‘best jet’ because they are for different purposes. The eurofighter is an in intercepting plane, and would win in a beyond visual range fight, whereas the Rafale is a true omnirole fighter jet, and would win a a heated close range dogfight. Both planes are super capable and look amazing and will forever fly by each others side 😊
Love the Eurofighter series of videos. And while this and the Rafale are pretty classified, it's a credit to their creators that they are evenly matched, these fights being decided by talent and the smallest of mistakes on one side.

The Typhoon is one of the few fighters that can perform sharp air combat maneuvers at supersonic speeds.

The delta wing makes it unstable but extremely manoeuvrable to the point it can thrust vector without even having it there’s videos on there of an RAF Pilot and a German pilot in a training dogfight, the German fighter pulls up quickly and stops mid air, the RAF one does the same and pulls the middle finger.

Love the Rafal.. In NATO exercise, rafal pilots did great job shooting down f22 in dogfights, there is great video on youtube from rafall HUDs, very capably aircraft for air air fights and also bomb atack role,

The insane (best of any delta) thrust-to-weight ratio is probably a big part in why it's such a good rate fighter, so much power, decently light, and great energy (for a delta).
I have always thought, and this wonderful display of airmanship reinforces it, that if you want a delta winged airframe, contact the French. However, if you want a powerplant, contact the English.

Always loved the look of the Rafale. Look at these canards!
The fun fact is that one of the raison france leave the project is that the typhoon's canard make for the pilote impossible to look down at his right/left side.
Warheads and guided missiles are cool to witness, but there is something special about seeing rounds decimating metal.
I enjoyed the flight path these planes take when dogfighting, it was like a slow dance. Seeing more sunset or sunrise in your battles will be nice.
Great fight, as showcased in round 2, the rafale is very capable when pushed aggressively. Which makes me really want to see you vs Longshot in there

Never ceases to amaze me that Rafale was the result of France pulling out of the EFA program. Yet it hit service well ahead of the EFA. Thats the issue with design by committee. It delays and waters down everything. I know the EFA is a capable 4.5 gen fighter but it was almost outdated before it entered service.
I'm no expert but in my opinion, these two are as close in design as it gets. No doubt they are tuned differently but if you were in any other jet, it would make a little difference which one of these two would you be against. No doubt Rafale is better looking though.
I think it’s the prettiest fighter plane so far. Those curve line between fuselage and air intake is sexy.

I find between Typhoon and Rafale, the Typhoon looks more sleek and efficient, which also reflects on it's flight performance.

An interesting fact about the Rafale. Its Mica-IR and Mica-EMs have the same range. I learned that from the Fighter Pilot Podcast.
Sounds like the French picked up some tricks from the Russians with those longer range MICA-IR
You can’t over g a typhoon in real life, the care free handling system means it limits inputs after 9 g and then sustains it
the problem is that at each redflag exercise the typhoon gets crushed by the Rafale :)

It is my understanding that the Eurofighter Typhoon in REAL LIFE is more capable both in the one circle and the rate fight, simply superior in every aspect to the Rafale (not an "edge" factor). Either both these mods are very inaccurate (in terms of flight model) or one of them is.
Below Mach1 the Rafale is more manouverable.

Rafale offers higher sustained aoa, meaning it can fly a smaller radius. Eurofighter is better at rate fighting, meaning it can fly faster in circles. In any case the differences are small.
Took a while for me to get to this video, but damn i love how close this match up was! Also, i didnt realize immediately that this is a Rafale M you squared up against, or at least that's what the markings say, but glad to see you going toe-to-toe against this French beauty

I do have to say that the Rafale is definitely one of my favorite fighters. It can accomplish so much compared to it's competition on a budget. But I do have to admit that I admire the Eurofighters higher thrust to weight.
Two planes with very similar dogfight performances, which means that the outcome of the fight depends more on the mistakes made by the opponent (or yourself) than on the plane. I personally love both.But it must be admitted that the Rafale is much more versatile than the Typhoon, in fact the air intake design prevents the possibility of being embarked on an aircraft carrier, the slats in front of the cockpit Limits visibility for ground attack, etc.

After watching this video, I am definitely convinced that Turkey should acquire Eurofighters to counter the Greek Rafales. We would have short term air superiority until the delivery of F-35's. Eurofighter has simply better avionics and is suited for air-to-air combat. Nice job Brits. 👍🏻🇹🇷🇬🇧

Out of the canard/delta winged planes, eurofighter, rafale, gripen, and I guess technically the J-20 is one too, I think the rafale is the best looking. I just don't like the air intakes on the eurofighter, and the gripen's look old like the F4 phantom. I don't know what to say about the J-20. The rafale has the best lines/style.
It's all in the air intakes: the Rafale looks the sleekest, the Gripen Frontside looks a bit more dated. From the backside they all look modern I think! I even find the Chinese J-10 a bit more aesthetically pleasing than the Typhoon haha

IRL the typhoon is reportedly better than f16's in a rate fight, apparently the only danger they face is from earlier blocks of the f16 that are significantly lighter but even then the viper is the underdog.

The reason the Eurofighter and Rafale are so close is because the French were originally part of the Eurofighter project, but then left and built their own fighter aircraft, I believe it was die to the French need for a naval carrier based fighter that the other participants did not need and so they left when they felt like they wernt getting what they wanted. Good thing two otherwise I'd only have 2 sexy delta wing canard fighters to ogle

An interesting fact for the typhoon is it actually has foreplanes not canards as the foreplanes on typhoon move symmetrical and the canards on the rafale move independently so those are canards 👍
