Every time I watch one of your instructional videos I want to shout out a big thank you! They are so very helpful and takes away a ton of guesswork and frustration. Just wanted to thank you again for your contribution to rod building.
Hey man, I love your channel. I teach basic and some advance rod building with Project Healing Waters. I am constantly referring students to watch your videos!
I hate when the metallic threads unravel when using on the bobbin holder and wrap around one of the legs and increase tension, so what I do is put a nylon mesh sleeve over the whole bobbin holder and spool and it stops the annoying unraveling of the thread, not sure how to get a picture to you, but I know you will figure it out... Cheers for another great video... Karl K from NZ the land of the All Blacks 😊😊😊
Thanks again for the great video!!!...i've learned so many great techniques from you. Question, i just got a few carbon fiber rod blanks shipped to me, would you sand off the ribs for clear coat...thank you...
Jim, If you're talking about Xray blanks, I would never sand the ribs. It will slow the action and power. Plus, there is no reason to clear coat the rods except in the area where you are putting a label. If you want a smooth blank from NFC, you could order an IM or HM blank. Thanks for watching
Im not sure what x ray blanks are, and secondly, ooops...it was your comment in this video about not wrapping to tight because of the ribs that triggered my concern. If i sent you a photo of the ribbed blank im hoping you could let me know if i have x ray blanks?...I've never heard of that terminology before....thanks again for helping all of the beginners out there...i have so much to learn OBVIOUSLY lol

Thanks for sharing the channel. If there is anything I can do to help out, maybe a Zoom class, just shoot me an email.
Nice job Captain Lee!
Thanks G

Thanks Karl. Send me a picture to fdxcustomrods@gmail.com
What size thread are you using on your rods? I know different sizes may be used for different applications but I’d there a size you tend to use most
Typically, I use "D" for most guide wraps. I do use "A" for some accents.
