TMY Technology (TMYTEK) has extensive and unique experience in academic-industry collaboration. In cooperation with the Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs (IDB-MOEA), and India’s National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), TMYTEK co-organized the "Taiwan-India Professional Electronics Talent Exchange Event", focusing on the theme "5G Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN)." This one-day event aims to introduce Indian experts to TMYTEK's role, technology, and equipment in O-RAN, creating opportunities for future bilateral industrial cooperation.
The event will feature TMYTEK Founder and President Su-Wei Chang and Co-founder & Vice President Ethan Lin as speakers and lecturer. In the morning session, they will share insights on the development, applications, and challenges of millimeter-wave technology, and introduce the mmWave Prototyping Solution and the FR2 OAI-E2E Open Source Platform.
In the afternoon session, Ethan Lin will conduct a course on the principles of millimeter-wave phased array antennas and lead a hands-on design workshop. This will help participants gain a deeper understanding of the importance of beamforming in millimeter-wave technology.
The 5G O-RAN Communication - Phased Array Antenna Workshop is a one-day event for 20 participants, conducted entirely in English. The morning session will feature Taiwanese experts sharing insights on the development, applications, and challenges of millimeter-wave technology, along with demonstrations of millimeter-wave prototyping and the 5G O-RAN Communication Platform. In the afternoon, a specialized millimeter-wave expert will lead a course on the principles of phased array antenna design, followed by hands-on practical sessions.
The project manager from TMYTEK will start with the basics of millimeter-wave RF front-end, array antenna link budget, and constructive and destructive interference principles of millimeter-wave beamforming. Step by step, participants will be guided through practical implementations, including phased array theory verification, beamforming, beam control, and beam pattern measurement. Participants will observe beamforming results on instruments and conduct creative and innovative research on antenna design or protocol verification, gaining an understanding of beamforming principles and millimeter-wave signal transmission.
In addition to practical work, TMYTEK will design group missions based on participants learned from millimeter-wave array antenna design. Led by a team of professional teaching assistants with extensive millimeter-wave knowledge, participants will turn theory into application, working with 5G millimeter-wave developer kits and applying them in real-world scenarios.
