I have the 2311 compact and was honestly completely shocked with how awesome it is. My personal slide to frame fit feels as tight as a Les Baer and my trigger is perfectly crisp and light. I thought there would be some compromise with it but I haven’t found any yet. It took about 150 rounds to break in reliably (the extractor was a bit tight) and has been 100% reliable since. They really did an excellent job with these and I’m a big fan. I only wish the compact had the wider thumb safety and I wish it were single sided because this is a carry gun. But that’s my only critique.
Hey this guy is doing a steel challenge video! I'm much too oper8or for this format. DOWNVOTE - Signed guy who sat next to you on the bus on our way back from triggercon Love your videos. Bought an apollo 11 cause of you
Great review. Staccato might be a little superior, but one can always close the gap by spending the $700 they'll save buying the Oracle on more ammo and better training.
@@TheDude_365No they're not. The OA 2311 is $1799 and comes with every optic plate you need while a Staccato P is $2499 with an optic cut but no plates.
Another great video. Will you be looking at any of the new guns coming out at IWA? Particularly the new design Bull doublestacks, and the new Tanfoglio offerings?
@@TheHumbleMarksman I saw a video from TFB Show Time @ IFA, Tanfo came out with "tactical" offerings with poly lowers, OR slides, pic rails, and caliber conversion capabilities. Looked really slick!
It’s his grip I have the OA2311 and a P with Ice Comp the OA2311 shooting/accuracy wise is on the staccato ass! If my OA2311 was comped I’ll definitely choose it over the my P. My P trigger is around 2 1/2lbs vs 4lb OA2311.
Regarding the grip: is your natural point of aim different on the 2311? I find any 1911/2011 without an arched MSH results in me pointing low from the draw and I have to consciously adapt. It's the only platform that does this, whereas something like a CZ points naturally. That arched backstrap really does wonders and I was hoping the 2311 points just as well. (Although given that, I'm planning a DWX next instead....)
Hey David long time follower I don't remember if you recall but I did reach out and let you know that I believe it was last year that I got 15 gundies votes and proudly use them all on you... I really appreciate all your content and all you do for our practical shooting community . With that being said, not sure if you use this dad joke or not yet but here's one for you... ""Why do fathers take an extra pair of socks when they go golfing?" "In case they get a hole in one!" On a more serious note I was intrigued by her comment in this video with regards to a 4.5 in barrel VS. a full size 5-in barrel and of course in the context of this video it was in regards to 2011s... However I would be curious to know your thoughts on BOTH: 4.5 IN BARRELS VS. A FULL 5-IN BARREL ON non 2011S (let's just say for the sake of the conversation and selfishly you could review the 4.25 VS the full frame 5-in Walther PDP) And of course any other gun that's between that 4.25-4.5 VS the full size 5-in And secondly 4.5 in (maybe using the Springfield prodigy) VS the full size 5-in prodigy - 2011s... It doesn't need to be those exact two models however I know that the Walther comes in a shorter barrel full size and a longer barrel full size and the prodigy does as well.. . At this point I think I'm rambling but I think you understand what I'm asking . If not please reply to this message as I am dictating this to you after watching your video on my car ride home lol
I'm finishing an edit on the alien comparison video that will go live next friday today. What I can tell you is balance matters immensely. Alongside the alien - which is a balanced gun I'm shooting a 5" MPA DS9 with an aluminum grip which is nose heavy and a 5" MPA DS9-LOC with a steel grip which is nearly perfectly balanced. The LOC is a lot more stable in recoil and inspires confidence in a way the regular DS9 doesn't - not a ton different - but if I get to pick between them - I'm picking the LOC. That said - how you set up your gun and where it carries weight is possibly more important than jsut raw barrel length. I'm going to film a video this sunday playing with brass grips on a Canik Rival S and the P365 Legion seeing how moving weight around on the gun affects the recoil impulse. My theory is I will prefer the more balanced guns.
I much prefer the SIG style locking lug, and the high power cam track, over the 1911 counter parts. I think the swinging link is more fragile, and the multi lugged hooded barrel doesn't improve repeatable lock up or strength.
2311 is a sweet pistol . I do love the fact that it uses P320 Mags but I'll agree the P is smoother . More than likely smoother because if what you stated . I'll have to agree with that because I came to the same conclusion . It's nothing that cant be worked thru . In curious if CZ S2 SAO Optics Ready would fair on the same level being thrown into the mix . I shoot CZ S2 Optics Ready with CGW SAO Conversion in USPSA or 2Gun . In not good enough to be able to tell a real difference lol . I'm low B level in USPSA and probably close to A level if 2Gun was hit factor .
Nice gun. The only 2011 style pistol I would consider would be one without a grip safety. That thing is an appendix from 100 years ago. These guns are too pricey for me, but maybe someday.
I just can't get over how ugly the 2311 looks to me. I could be slicker than KY on a slip and slide and have "Wanted" bullet curving technology... Gun has to scream sexy for me to look any further. 🤮 Great comparison and video by the way David (like Always), maybe I should have started with that part first.
Last year the Oracle Team happened to be on my squad for a 3 Gun match. They had quite a few malfunctions with the 2311. Hopefully they get the issues corrected.
Don't think you mentioned the difference in price?? Also, the difference in which magazines the guns use?? I believe the OA 2311 uses SIG 320 or Glock magazines that cost less than $50 each and the Staccato 2011 uses standard 2011 magazines that cost well over one hundred dollars each. If I'm wrong, I apologize, but believe it to be true & not to mention the price difference in the original purchase price of each handgun.
i don't understand the glock/ sig mag thing as a benefit. these are 2 different markets, the crossover will be anecdotal.. but limited for now.. so the 'benefit' of using these 'cheaper' more common mags may be the driver but seems silly. just use 2011 mags. there, solved it.

Love your videos, thanks for braving the elements! Please do a Platypus/2311 comparison!
That's actually a great idea. Similar price points with very similar target markets.
New platypus with Bull Barrel
Really liked this head to head and how you acknowledged your experience with the 2011 impacting results. Great job!
My OA 2311 arrives Tuesday. Can't Wait
10 months with it how do you like it?
Thanks! I just got my 2311 compact plus. I love the trigger it's just as good as my WC SFX9. Glad I didn't spend the extra cash for the Staccato.
As a lefty I appreciate the hell out of the ambi slide release on the oracle so it gets the W for me.
Talked to stealth arms the other day and they said it’s in the works for left sided platypus

Yes the staccato has years of development behind its performance...the 2311 has features that most 2011 don't have..with time the 2311 will get there
I went Staccato C2 before OA 2311 was a thing. I’d like to shoot the OA 2311 (ported) Pro for grins & giggles but I have no regrets.
Im interested in the 2311 just because ambi controls. Being a lefty sucks sometimes.
Waiting for a steel frame version for a possible LO gun.

P for the win. Looks like in slow motion that OA 2311 has a lot of nose bounce / dip.

What about the Platypus vs the Stacato?
The 2311 looks like a p320 max but with safties and hammer
To be fair, why not the same optic?
I really want to see how the 2311 performs in adverse conditions. Is it as reliable as a striker fired duty gun with sand, mud and fowling in the mix?
since it's linkless and is intentionally designed with working tolerances in mind - I bet it actually does pretty well.
Bull barrel for the win

Very nice pistols
So Staccato P or Bul tac ? Want the Bul air but they are out of stock smh .. seems like all Bul comp guns with optic cuts are out of stock
Staccato P beats it hands down, better track record and feels nicer when it comes to fit and finish

Last year the Oracle Team happened to be on my squad for a 3 Gun match. They had quite a few malfunctions with the 2311. Hopefully they get the issues corrected.
Nothing seems to recoil like a 2011
OA feels like a 2x4 in the grip to me
Performance being pretty equal, I have to consider looks and the 2311 is so ugly. I'd definitely pick the Staccato.
2311 for the only reason that I have an M18 with a few mags and new cheaper Magpul mags. 🤷🏻♂️
No, i'm not gonna sound off in the comments.
I can respect your reluctance
Where's Perry the Platypus fall into this equation? He'd probably enjoy the weather more than the others.
Stacatto P is a Jam o matic
Mine has only choked once on a short Sig V crown
Any one example can be a problem child but my local PD is carrying Staccato models. Don’t think anyone else in the category has that kind of trust
I’ve got several thousand rounds through a P with no malfunctions
Sounds like you don't maintain your 2011 at all lol, clean and lube your weapons bud
Definitely the Staccato for me.
I'd have to put hands on the 2311 to answer fully but I'm like the one guy who doesn't like 2011 or 1911 grip angles.
OA Compact Due To 15rd Limited State..
I'll stick with my canik rival that I drug through the TF catalog.
Seemed as if the OA has a lot more flip then the staccato

Yep, 2311 uses P320 mags. Plus, Magpul just started making steel P320 mags, so you're spoiled for options with the OA.
You can buy 2011 mags for $65, MBX competition mags are $100+
Check mate makes stacattos mags, now they're selling checkmate marked mags for around 45-50
i don't understand the glock/ sig mag thing as a benefit. these are 2 different markets, the crossover will be anecdotal.. but limited for now.. so the 'benefit' of using these 'cheaper' more common mags may be the driver but seems silly. just use 2011 mags. there, solved it.
Even staccato is trying to introduce a mag that makes more sense for 9mm. WC did it with their SFX guns - the 2011 in 9mm is suboptimal
And with going for a Sig/Glock 9mm mag they also shrink the grip because they don't have to accommodate .45/10mm/38 Super.
2311 all the way.
Yea not for me 2011 all the way
2311.....cheaper, less finicky mags.
More mutants that use 1911 trigger parts but cheap commodity mags.
Be nice if they were under $1000 msrp.
JUST NOT sure the staccato is worth all that money
Platypus it up then
It is, actually a decent price for a duty 2011 in the 2011 world
I hope someone can copyright 2311.....😂🇺🇸
