Trees are a renewable resource and it helps to think of them as a crop being harvested. These taken will likely be replanted, very few are offended when corn is harvested. Trees of this size obviously take longer than a solar year but still only the blink of an eye in earth's history from long before we climbed out of the trees and will likely continue long after our species relents dominance to the next.
Not a tree hugger but to see a big, beautiful healthy, trees to be cut down just sad. They are a legacy and impressive to look at. Amazing work of nature.
He’s a very smart worker that is an art to drop a tree where exactly you want it. No denying he is a very hard working man. It’s a shame to have to cut down trees 🌲. Trees make air for use to breathe on the plant it is called photosynthesis. You also have to realize that for ever tree cut down they plant 🌱 5 new ones in return so they can grow and make more air.
The inclined plane is a noteworthy invention. When utilized as a wedge, it efficiently applies force to separate objects. Conversely, when coiled around a central axis, it exerts force to securely fasten objects together. This configuration is known as a screw.
If it's so sad and you think that he's destroying the environment, then you better not live in a wood house or use paper of any kind or any of the other thousands of products made from wood???

Well, unfortunately, just because you notch a tree and then back-cut it, doesn't mean it will fall in the direction you think. You need to look carefully at the lean, weight distribution, and several other factors. Please leave it to professionals.
I take it that you only have a 2 pack a day cigarette habit with that job.lol. hard work at its highest level. I use to climb trees for a company that specialized in tight quarters removal. Let me tell you folks it ain't easy. Cheers
Trees are like people, they grow up, mature, and as they age become infirm and die. It's better to harvest and replant then waste the tree. It's a RENEWABLE resource folks .
They don't call em widow makers for nothing. Looks a tad safer than my box cut but quite a bit slower. That's pretty much the largest I've taken down. To add to the excitement it was in the proximity of a house but unlike many I made sure no one was home!
Back in the '70s & '80s, my Pappy fell trees in ritzy neighborhoods and for friends of his who also worked for the USFS but weren't tree fallers. He was a climber also. For the Gifford Pinchot Nat'l Forest he was Transportation Planner/Engineer (road designer and builder) and went to every major forest fire in the US, before the eruption of Mt St Helens, after the eruption he spent most of his time in the Volcano Center in downtown Vancouver Wa (this was before the Cascades Volcanic Observatory was established) where he was airtraffic controller over the mountain. He retired in 1990. He taught me to be a great ground man but i never got into the industry, other than helping friends with the falling of trees and the clean up. Fun times for sure, especially the Mt St Helens experience.
I knew cutters that went to work after st Helen's blew. My dad worked in the woods all his life and residential tree service. My grandpa logged all his life also, then built road for forest service in northern Washington st. I still live in the area and took over from my dad after he died in 90.
Sometimes you want a high stump to catch the next big one so you can buck the loggs. And if you don't take a little time and care you will destroy the entire piece of wood by breaking it. Most people that haven't done the job don't understand that it's o.k. Two truck loads in that one tree. Smart Ass 😆
Dad would have had it done in about 5 minutes. Just kidding. Thanks for sharing! I load train cars with what's salvageable from what you guys are doing.
Never have seen a timber faller use that small of an undercut when felling a tree. Also falling that tree across the slope poses a challenge to buck the tree into logs, setting chokers, etc. 32-foot logs set to roll downhill. Not very safe. Better to fall trees up or down the slope.
This isn't California. Down the hillside and it torpedoes to the bottom and blows up and probably destroys other timber. Up the hillside and it could kick and take off butt first down the hill creating a whole other dangerous situation.

To see there houses getting blown away by hurricanes. Forest fires. Wood rot. Parasites. And then Cutting more trees down. No wonder this beautiful planet that we all live on is getting ruined.
It is so sad and unfortunate to see such a beautiful natural tree destroyed for whatever reason disregarding its enormous value and benefits to the environment. I have always maintained that humanity is the biggest threat and danger to the planet earth. Our mindless greed and selfishness and disregard of other living things in the environment is really tragic.

O corte com a serra não deveria ser na horizontal. Assim o peso da árvore a mantém na vertical.
I always wander why they leave so much wood in the stump.

Trees this big can be very challenging when they lean the wrong way. If done incorrectly the tree will break apart and the wood will be useless.
