Irrational is ok, find help if you need it, ptsd is a medical condition not a character flaw, whatever you need to feel better is worth it. I hope one day you will get better. Abuse is horrible and if you need to reach out then do it, be afraid, that is ok be sad, but remember you deserve to be happy.
I love how Mother Mother is capable of so many different genres and sounds at the same time and the fact that the vocalists are all so different from each other and have such different voices that they're able to create such beautiful harmony in such different ways, their sound is so unique which is incredibly hard these days, it's the perfect balance of 70s, 80s, 90s and their own entire different decade. I can't believe that this is by the same band that made Hayloft and Burning Pile it's amazing.
Molly is definitely my favorite vocalist in Mother Mother, I love her extraordinary, a bit hoarse and a bit children’s voice SOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!! It merges with loud strong Rayan’s and deep voiced Jasmine’s voice, and these three voice create magical music. I love Mother mother (sorry for my english lol)
Lyrics: [Verse 1] Protecting you, protecting me I throw the evidence into a trunk and drop it in the sea Lie awake, I sleep awake I sleep with one eye on the bedroom door, the other on the cake Protecting me, protecting you Carving away our fingerprints out of our fingertips until they're smooth [Chorus 1] Lie awake, I sleep awake I sleep with one eye on my royal flush, the other on the take I sleep awake [Verse 2] Protecting this, protecting that Calling a deadbeat with his dead bolt wrapped around his artifact Protecting that Lie awake, I sleep awake I sleep with one hand on my .45, the other 'round my baby's waist [Chorus 2] Lie awake, I sleep awake I go to bed with all my lights turned on so I don't slip away I stay awake Out on the street I keep a started car who only waits for me Conveniently [Guitar Solo] [Outro] Lie awake, I sleep awake Lie awake, I sleep awake Ahhh, ahhh Ahhh, ahhh
if you listen close right before the solo ( 3:46 ) you can hear a woman screaming like arguing about something or she did something and is gone kinda crazy and then the screaming goes down slowly around 5:16 .. (in the left part of the headphones) and i love this.
This is my favorite song to listen to if I have a breakdown, it helps ground me and has kept me from having a relapse. It's helped me become 5 months clean. I want others to know that you can do it, keep going.
To me the lyrics are about an abusive relationship, with the main character having possibly killed their partner to protect themselves and their child, and now trying to get away with it. Either way, I love how intense it is and how surreal Molly's vocals are! This song is so underrated.
i relate sm to this song. some nights i literally cannot sleep for the life of me because i tend to overthink about someone killing me or in general about people who hate me, and even in my dreams almost every night i get killed in my dreams or see people who have abused me in the past. it really sucks to live like this. i want to stop feeling this way but its so hard to not think about it.
I think this song is about some kind of trauma, maybe PTSD, or anxiety mixed with paranoia. I can relate, i always sleep awake. I'm aware all the time, even when it's 4 or 5 a.m
I can’t sleep, I never sleep. It’s been weeks now since I’ve slept at night. My only sleep is during school or when I get small naps when studying. Everytime I nap for 30 minutes or an hour I have these painful nightmares that make me wake up with my heart pshyically hurting that it makes me cry. This song is calming for when I try and sleep. I just play it, stare at the ceiling and hope I get sleep for school. I keep the lights on just in case I have nightmares, this song is so comforting for me
This to me is kinda how a person is paranoid in the day and feels like he is the artifact and the one protecting is the house or he is paranoid about his family getting hurt and he can't sleep at night because of it
It would make sense that the person is paranoid about their family because it would give literal meaning to the lyric "I sleep with one hand on my forty-five the other round my baby's waist"
Okay hear me out! Sally face fans! Imagine the ending of chapter four in like a TV show style where Sal has just been told by Addison to go kill everyone. He exits Addisons room and this song starts playing. Then everything goes in slow motion as the lights of the hall way flicker on and off. We see the shadows of the people getting murdered and Sal come outside to flashing lights and police cars. He puts his hands up dropping the knife and sees Ash crying and struggling to go talk to him. Cut to the trial scene and the judge giving him the death sentence. And Ash is crying trying to tell the judge that it wasn’t his fault. Then we see Ash a few years later rushing to go save Sal before he gets executed and get evidence and then by the very end we just see her screaming at the door and banging on it holding up a photo of Larry. Screen goes black. End credits. THE MURDER SCENE WOULD BE SLOW MOTION AND SO WOULD ASH SCREAMING AT THE DOOR. CAN SOMEONE MAKE IT HAPPEN? Edit: thank you so much for the likes

I live a cushy life, I have nothing to relate to this genre of music. It feels shameful to relate to something that so readily wallows in agony and despair; insensitive, out of touch, and out of line with my normal impressions. I still love this music though.

Also, and I'll readily admit that I'm just a random stranger on youtube with very little idea of your situation, I'll ask you something someone else once asked me... This song is such a good ending to the album. All of it works amazingly. The first part where it's calm and slow, introducing you to the character's behavior. The second part keeps it interesting by getting faster and having stronger instrumentation as it prepares you to its fastest part. The lyrics also get more severe as the character does more drastic stuff to stay hidden. The third part just throws everything it has to give end to not only itself but the album. You also get a peek at what might have gotten the character in this situation in the first place. The song ends just as it started as maybe a way to suggest that this might be neverending for the character or that, maybe, they finally got to sleep. Sorry for the maybe nonsensical dump, I just really like this song and wanted to talk about it.

@@Mr.Munster Well, if anything please do keep looking! I admittedly had the same happen with a bad cover of Viva La Vida ina dress up game from the early 2010's haha, let's hope you'll find it!!
Always imagined this song was about a parent who got tangled in some sort of mafia after their spouse got killed by them, and had to join to keep their kid safe. After awhile of being in the gang they plan to escape and eventually manage to try and drive away but are chased down by the leader and his minions. Towards the end their car flips and goes off road after a sharp turn and lands close to a town. They end up dying, but the baby lives cause they protected it with their body, doing the one thing they promised. The baby is found by the townspeople, who care for it. Haven't really thought of anything else for this song, but you guys can add on to it if you want

Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Protecting you, protecting me
I throw the evidence into a trunk and drop it in the sea
Lie awake, I sleep awake
I sleep with one eye on the bedroom door, the other on the cake
Protecting me, protecting you
Carving away our fingerprints out of our fingertips until they're smooth
[Chorus 1]
Lie awake, I sleep awake
I sleep with one eye on my royal flush, the other on the take
I sleep awake
[Verse 2]
Protecting this, protecting that
Calling a deadbeat with his dead bolt wrapped around his artifact
Protecting that
Lie awake, I sleep awake
I sleep with one hand on my .45, the other 'round my baby's waist
[Chorus 2]
Lie awake, I sleep awake
I go to bed with all my lights turned on so I don't slip away
I stay awake
Out on the street I keep a started car who only waits for me
Conveniently

[Outro]
