    I used a plastic bottle rather than a jar because I keep dropping things. Also an interesting tip is to add some beads or gems to the jar because then not only will it make it even more sparkly but when you shake the bottle it kinda sounds like a rain stick and is really beautiful.

    it looks good :) if you put distillated water and add 2 tablespoons of glicerin, then it will last longer, the snow globes are made with this method :)

  • @nidhinaik1636
    @nidhinaik1636 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    wow that looks really beautiful....planning to make these jars.
    one question though - how can you make this stay for long time so you dont need to keep shaking them to see the actual beauty?
    p.s : these are soooo freaking cute i am in love with them just by watching you make them!

    • @MsXialin
      @MsXialin  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, yay! I'm glad this got you inspired to make one for yourself. 😁 Unfortunately, I don't know how to make the effect last longer. You can always do a trial and error session with more glitter glue, or if you don't want too much glitter, you can try clear craft glue to make the water thicker. 😊

    Can you do it with plastic I have 3rd and 4th graders and want to do this activity with them for after school program, but glass will be to dangerous so can plastic bottles or jars work.

    • @fireflysparks1105
      @fireflysparks1105 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lena Valenzuela yes! it works the same in plastic bottles, that’s what I use for children so they won’t break if dropped. I superglue the lids down when they’ve finished making them aswell, you don’t want them opening them when you’re back is turned and it accidentally spilling everywhere

    • @MsXialin
      @MsXialin  9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      For mine, the falling effect lasts about 3-4 minutes before all the glitter settles to the bottom again. :-) It's been a little over a year since I made my jar and it still works as if I had just made it; didn't dry out at all! And thank you, I'm super glad you enjoyed the video! :-)

    If you don't necessarily have Mason jars do normal jars work? If so should I mix in a separate container and then pour it in the jar? What type if container should I use?

    • @MsXialin
      @MsXialin  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Any container will work just as well. :-) I just preferred to use a mason jar because it's self-sealing and because it looks a little nicer than a plain jar hehe.

    • @MsXialin
      @MsXialin  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, of course! It might not make a dramatic difference, but it can slow the settling of the glitter by a little bit. :-)

      Clear glue won't make it slower. You could always buy glycerin, that will make it slower(it's the stuff they use in snow globes).

    wait, does the water have to be warm to start out with? or can it just be normal temperature or a little cold.

    • @whitneyng
      @whitneyng 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      the warm water helps the glue dissolve. I experimented with room temperature water and i had to shake the clumps of glue away.

    Do you add the drop of food coloring before you heat it up or after you put the glitter in or it doesn't matter?

    • @MsXialin
      @MsXialin  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I added the food coloring after I heated the water, but before I put any of the glitter in. I don't think it makes much of a difference though, that was just my preference hehe.

    Can I add something else than glitter glue or clear glue? Both are very expensive :( I tried with just glitter but it just falls too fast and the calming jar just became a workout. Which I guess works for me but still.

    • @MsXialin
      @MsXialin  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe you can substitute the glue for glycerin. :-) I haven't tried it out, but other people in the comments have mentioned it, so that could be a good alternative! It can also be used for other things in the future, so I guess you get more bang for your buck with that hehe.

    Hi, I absolutely love this idea and just recently made it. I used a glitter glue from michaels. Two entire bottles and even with that it was still extremely liquidy. What kind of glitter glue did you use?

    • @MsXialin
      @MsXialin  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I honestly just used a cheap blue glitter glue from Walmart, haha. I'm not too sure why yours turned out so liquidy. :-/

    @jennuine99 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    What about regular white glue? I have glitter glue but it doesn't seem like it's thickening the water -_- how much approximately did you put in...? I put about 1fl oz

    • @MsXialin
      @MsXialin  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never use regular white glue! It'll make the water appear milky and gross. :-( and I used the entire bottle of glitter glue that was shown in the video, which was about 3 oz.

    This tutorial is really great!! But I have a few questions. If you go long periods of time without shaking it, will it still work when you do shake it again or will it get stuck to the bottom? Also should you seal the jar once you're done or just screw the top back on?

    • @MsXialin
      @MsXialin  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, I'm glad you liked the tutorial! To answer your questions: Yes, it'll still work just the same even if you haven't shaken it after a long period of time. And you don't necessarily have to seal it; just make sure the lid is screwed on completely. :-)

    The glitter got stuck to the glitter glue and it falls down in globs. Any help to make it stop globbing?

    • @MsXialin
      @MsXialin  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you heated the water well enough, the glitter shouldn't stick or glob up... The heat makes the gel in the glue melt so it's easier to mix. 😕

      @MsXialin  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! :-) I heated my water before I dyed it, but you can do it in whichever order you prefer. The result will still be the same, hehe.

    Does this actually work and how long does it last ?? Please someone tell me

    • @MsXialin
      @MsXialin  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      The one I made lasts for about 2 minutes once it's been completely shaken. If you want it to last longer, you can add more glitter glue to make the mixture a little bit thicker. :)

      Glitter glue is basically clear glue with glitter lol

      You can add your clear glue and then add some glitter in the jar.

    Does the water have to be warm ?

    • @MsXialin
      @MsXialin  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the water has to be hot so the glue will sort of melt and make things easier to blend/mix together.

  • @jasminerocha2800

    How many minutes do you boil the water?

    • @MsXialin
      @MsXialin  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can turn the heat off as soon as the water begins to simmer. :-) But if you'd like it to be any hotter, you can always leave it on the stove for longer.

    This looks amazing! Is there any way that you can make something similar to this where you don't have to shake it and still have it look like that? Like stay full 'glitterized' ? :)

    do we have to use food coloring or we can use paint?

    • @MsXialin
      @MsXialin  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think you can use paint. :/ Since it's so thick, it might separate after the water cools down or after all the glue and glitter settles after being shaken. You can experiment with watercolors though! :-)

    • @LC-wm6wy
      @LC-wm6wy 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! The glitter jar is supposed to calm you because you're concentrating on how slowly everything is falling. :-) And unfortunately no, you cannot use white Elmer's glue for this as it will make the appearance milky.
