Enochian Magick is so complex... something I would love to really understand but I am just so lazy... I wish there was a step by step video guide to working through the information. BUT DuQuette has been a major influence in my own approach and your review is spot on!
Enochian Magic is the only path ive found to accurately describe and induce the shamanic like experiences ive had naturally and later through psychedelics, naturally.
What a great and OBJECTIVE review! I came here before buying, just to see if it is a decent read. I'm pretty new to stuff like this so I want to say that watching this was actually a delight, you earned a subscriber : )
Regarding the sword it depends on which system one is using & whether you're a traditionalist or a modernist, for example the Golden Dawn had the wrong lettering around the table, but it didn't appear to affect the results (although you could ask how would we know?), they also modifyied the system with truncated pyramids that had Tarot cards, etc on their sides.
Wonderful review Dave! Ah...synchronicities, synchronicities. Interestingly weird and probabilistic universe we inhabit for sure! Today, just when I was listening to the latest Rune Soup interview where Gordon was speaking with Jason Louv about John Dee, his latest book, and the Empire of Angels (I recommend you hearing it, if you haven't already), your review of Enochian Vision Magick pops up! :) I'll surely add this one to my long reading parchment. Sounds quite immesive and detailed. Oh and I look forward seeing your review of Sheridan's new book on Sorcery too. Haven't bought it yet, but it's on the list as well. He never disappoints! Cheers Dave!
Thanks, my friend. I also listened to the Rune Soup podcast yesterday and mulled over whether to keep this review for another week because of the clash. But I think the books take different approaches based on Jason's interviews. My review of Sorcery will be for New Dawn Magazine so I most likely won't do a video version. I will be writing one for my blog after publication, though.
Yeah certainly Dave, from what I could gather in the interview, Jason's new book has quite a different approach indeed from the one you're reviewing here. Both authors are quite important for The Occult researcher and for the practioner wizard-magus alike. Jason actually has a substantial and very deep understanding of where Chaos Magic (as he's actually practicing it) emerged, and it is a delight to hear him speak about the origins of the whole Western magical tradition and its inception. Both Dee and Kellay were at the core. Well, i'll just check your blog then about the next review on Thomas' new book. Take care friend!
Enochian Vision Magick by Lon Milo DuQuette certainly is a text that can serve as a person's only source of Enochian Magick. I too write and such in a way to understand and experience for myself. Enochian is alpha-numeric and perhaps those not used to thinking that way are the best people to use it, if magick is willful changes in consciousness. I prefer not to use the Thelemic context and additions to the systems, but the saying the names of the letters of the items might serve to refer to beings not literally referred to. The instruments of Enochian Magick are part of the magick in the way that some grimoires take months to get to the main acts. Any part can be used, but what leads up to it can open a person up. Enochian exists in a way that it seems that just about any beliefs and practices can be mixed with it.
I think that belief systems have lenses, Moxygen. Personally, I think Kelley was a chancer and Dee was gullible. It’s a struggle to pull anything the ‘angels’ divulged into a contemporary context or meaning. You can, of course, with great effort, but also with such ambiguous scope that it all becomes meaningless, ultimately.
@@theoccultbookreview1178 when I looked at the Judeo Angels You get like Michael, Sachiel, Raphael etc but with Enochian angels you get names like aaa aab aac aae aaf which make no sense to me.
@@theoccultbookreview1178 I did some more research and found out that Enochian magick was supposed taught to Dee by the Archangel Uriel which would explain why there are weird names and angels I have never heard of.
@moxygenpathogen7678 it's very similar to writing YHVH, ADNI. They tell you how to pronounce their names and they very often are angel names similarly to Hebrew but there are many more angel names beyond this. They are much more like elementals in my opinion, very FINE regions of governance
That's a possibility but it would also make the concept of contact difficult to explain in working terms. The inability to distinguish individuals form the perspective of a higher level is hard to understand. Of course, maybe a person could argue that this is a deliberate barrier put in place by an even higher power who does not want us interfered with.
Chris_Fiddles I’m surprised Bardon is not better known. I would not be too familiar with how his thoughts separate from other Hermeticists, personally, Chris. It’s definitely an area for me to explore. Thanks for the comment.

This was a good review and alsonsomeninteresting information. Enough to make me interested in reading the book to find out more!

Jaefar SABNW Thanks for the insightful comment, Jaefar.
How come enochian angels dont match up with the Judeo kabbalistic angels.

Could it be that the angels saw them as one because of them being mankind (a collective consciousness)?

Really enjoy your reviews. I'd love to hear your take on the work of Franz Bardon of you've read any of it.
